A Japanese girlband has caused outrage after their outfits for a Halloween concert were compared to Nazi uniform.

The group, Keyakizaka46, performed on Saturday at Yokohama arena in Japan wearing military-style black capes with wide collars. They also wore peaked hats featuring a bird symbol akin to the formal Nazi symbol of an eagle atop a swastika.

While video footage shows fans screaming in adoration of the band - whose young members range between 15 and 21 years old - others have taken to social media to share their disapproval of the girls' choice of attire.

Many saw a strong resemblance to the uniforms worn by Nazi soldiers in WW2, sharing pictures of the girls posing in their outfits alongside black and white images of SS soldiers.

There's an overview of the outfit on ANN, no swastikas were on it, thus the fools that are offended have too much time on their hands.

Raidou's outfit is a school outfit if I'm not mistaken.

But it isn't as if police didn't don similar uniforms. The cloak is merely a raincoat.

You know its to the point where if you know damn good and well that the topic is sensitive why would you purposely choose to do it regardless? And then try to look kawaii uguu on top of it. I mean they might as well have had "make nep great again" hat and the 4chan cosplay would be complete. Sigh.

At least its not as bad as this https://twitter.com/HitDaBoogiez/status/793119773060128768/photo/1

Oh it's find when it's "how do you feel about x" or "what's your opinion on x". But when we're talking about history and you start persecuting groups or individuals, you should, at the very least, skim through what has already been said.

I mean, at least find out if you're alone in the persecution or you're one of the crowd. I'm not asking you to look past any links here, or read pages of posts.

Yet, people wear Che Guevara shirts and not a word is said...

At any rate, such imagery has been used by many musicians, Sid Vicious, Scott Weiland, Jimmy Page, Lemmy etc. Hell even Prince Harry wore a swastika as part of a costume. I personally find going for 'shock value' is often in poor taste, but seriously people make mountains out of mole hills.

Update :Japanese teen girl band Keyakizaka46 Nazi-esque outfits irk Jewish Wiesenthal Center and Sony music apologizes

yes another apologize

Sony Music Japan apologized Tuesday after a popular Japanese all-girls band came under fire for performing in outfits resembling Nazi-era German military uniforms.

The mostly teenage members of Keyakizaka46 appeared at an Oct. 22 concert in black knee-length dresses that look like military overcoats, and black capes and officer caps with a Nazi-like eagle emblem. Sony Music is the group’s label.

“We express our heartfelt apology for causing offense ... because of our lack of understanding,” Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) said in a statement posted on its website. “We take the incident seriously and will make efforts to prevent a recurrence of a similar incident in the future.”

Of course it had to be the Jews. It's always the Jews when it comes to stuff like this.

So, how much did they ask for in compensation, because that seems to be the general trend whenever a Jew gets offended?

All these Halloween related news.
I have been thinking, these costumes are actually based on the real people who wore them in the past.

Recently, there are news about how the costume was very offensive to Black people.
Wearing Black as in a race that is somehow treated no different than any monsters, not as a human being.

And maybe ISIS costume is one of the things it can be related in this kind of topic.

In Korea, Imperial Japan Army costume obviously would be the most offensive costume than the Nazi army uniform.

Whether if these females are wearing that is close to the real thing or not, they are just wearing for show.
How do I know if their costume is offensive or not?
Even so, I don't find it offensive as of now.
But, if I think about the people that is who actually reminded of the offenders who wore those kinds of similar clothes and to them it is like their past trauma being resurfaced.
Still, to be turn out this grand in Asia, Europeans might be even more impacted by this.

the manji is show why cultral apopreation is wrong

the nazi took a symbol older than there nation and crrupted its meaning

It's not cultural appropriation though, the symbol has existed all across the world and for thousands of years. It's a relatively simple symbol as was probably thought up as an 'original' design at different times, and used many times with varying meanings or no meaning. It was actually found in Europe to what was dated at 10,000 years before we know it was in Asia. It's found on Roman sites and Christian sites as well as Hindu and Buddhist. Even in America, the natives were using the symbol. And Japanese people only know it as the 'Manji' because they took it from China (Wanzi), which is really the same level of 'cultural appropriation' as saying the Nazis appropriated it.
