| EVERYTHING i want to say to Subaru he said already to himself.......very satisfied. REM also said the BEST lines in the episode. Subaru does not deserve Rem so I'm pretty cool with that Rejection. |

| Dude! Awesome post! You truly understood everything that was going on here and put it all so nicely into words - better than I've ever could! Thanks for that! It's really such a shame so many people are simply filled with rage and disappointment after Subaru's rejection for Rem in this episode and this one fact alone seems to overshadow everything else this episode or even this whole show did until now for them. That's pretty sad to me. =/ Don't get me wrong - personally it hurt me a lot too, when Subaru outright rejected Rem, even after this lovingly & amazing confession since I'm also clearly someone who thinks Rem is most definitely best girl for quite some time now - after this episode all the more of course! And of course anger emerged in me as well. Although I saw it coming I wanted to punch him really hard at that moment like many other people for sure. Subaru is such a lucky idiot for having such an angel care for him this much! But even so... I think the reason why Subaru still tails after Emilia like a dog despite Rem's affection towards him is pretty stupid as it is simple: Like some other people already stated before: Emilia was the very first person that showed kindness to him and saved him in this new and unknown world where he was all alone. Add the fact that she is quite the beauty and voila! He fell for her pretty hard right there and such feelings don't just simply vanish. Rem's love for Subaru is real, just like his love for Emilia is (to him at least). And as cruel and sad as it sounds: Just because Rem offers him everything since she loves him this much, doesn't mean he has to love her back for that. She does it because she wants to and not to make him fall in love with her... even though of course she most definitely hopes it will happen. But love just doesn't work that way. So the show's portrayal of all that is actually pretty realistic. This episode really did an amazing job in delivering all these feelings IMHO! But to be completely honest... Right after I finished the episode I had mixed feelings about it. But the more I think about it all, the better my impression of the episode gets. TL;DR: Great episode, still awesome anime! Rem is best girl (x10 after this episode)! Can't wait for the next episode! :> |

It's the first step he needed to take in order to change. Also, Rem and Subaru have known each other alot longer than a few days. I think your sense of time is a bit off. It's fine to be objective. But at the very least have your opinion make sense. |

However, people are calling it that because it looks like the start of character development. Anyways, I think the suspense of disbelief might just be your problem with this anime. Not saying you're wrong for not believing what Re:Zero throws at you though. It's very hit or miss anime. I'll try to explain. Maybe Re:Zero love isn't as deep as we would think it would be, but to me it makes sense. TL;DR at the bottom. Ok. So we get the gist of it that Subaru was a NEET in the real world. Deprived of bonds and just any social interaction. He didn't do anything other than exercise but probably just for his own pride. So he's a complete loser there and he comes here to this fantasy world. He doesn't know why. He doesn't know how, but Subaru takes this fact very well thinking that he gets a "do-over" or a chance to be a "hero" or anime protagonist of his dreams. But, he doesn't get that. He gets no special powers. He gets nothing. He's treated like shit from the get go. His problems from the real world don't just vanish when he gets teleported to another one. If they dragged him down in the other world, they'll drag him down here. And even people passing by like Felt just ignore him when he was in need of help. Then when he's getting beat up by the mooks, Emilia saves him. She's the first person to show him kindness in this world, probably the first person to show kindness to him, a NEET, in a looong time. That means a lot to a NEET. So with his whole "mai waifu" projection he starts to become attached and fond of her. Almost in an unhealthy fashion. Anyways, as he learns more about her, he sees sides about her that he likes. She's honest, cute, selfless in a way that she almost ruined her entire chances of finding the insignia just to help out Subaru and that little kid. He admires that in her so that amplifies his affection Then, he dies. She dies. He feels that it's fault. He really likes her (not love yet) and is mad that she died. She doesn't deserve this. So after a while Subaru helps save Emilia and you know what she does? Instead of letting him die, she brings him back to the mansion and has him healed up by Beatrice. She could have let him die on the street, so once again she shows her selflessness. He loves that about her. Now fast forward a bit more, in all the loops Emilia is super kind to him, willing to go along with his little chuuni moments, chime in and talk to him instead of just ignoring him. Even in the loop where Rem died, she believed in him. Top it all off with him freaking out in Episode 8. He was super SUPER stressed out. He didn't know how to make things work and he now he knows for sure he can't talk to anyone about his problems. Puck, Beatrice, Rem, and Ram see there is something wrong with him, but for the most part they don't trust him. Then Emilia. Emilia, who only met Subaru a few days ago(in her view. Subaru has known her for a good month or two by now), decides to give him the lap pillow scene. He's allowed to get out a lot of frustrations off his chest. She supports him despite not knowing what messes with him but she's concerned anyway. Notice how he said "Stop that or I might fall in love with you". I think that lap pillow scene was in fact where he fell in love with her. At first he just had a crush on her, but more and more the time spent with her he started to like her more. Sure, he was still placing his waifu projection on her at the same time, but he does genuinely like her. For me, this is all very believe-able. I've seen a lot of people like Subaru who are in bad situations and then there's always that person who saves them. And then when that person saves them, they become super attached. And it's understandable to me, because who wouldn't? You were stuck in a bad rut for so long and then this person who didnt have to came out of nowhere and helped you out. It goes for Rem too. I too think she's going a bit overboard with the whole "Kidss" when she's only really known him for a month or two, but. I don't think it doesn't make any sense. She too was in a tough situation for like 5-10 years of her life. She kept beating herself up, feeling inferior and feeling like she was scum for being happy that something bad happened to her sister. Then Subaru pulled her out of it. Her savior pulled her out of it. Is she going overboard with how she feels, maybe. But I think it makes sense. It's probably not the most healthy way to love someone but if someone were to save you from a situation that's been screwing you up...Yeah. TL;DR: Emilia has had Subaru's back countless times and gave him the chance to vent out his frustrations and also talked with him that it'd be okay. She's a hero to him. Rem was in a bad situation that had crippled her mind for years but Subaru saved her from that. If we were talking about Kiznaiver though, I would agree with you 100%. That show I can't really believe the characters when they say " Ilove you" |

Hmm.. It's more of from his point of view was what I realized. I was thinking about that the other day. I was like "Why the hell would Subaru like Emilia." But when I thought about it from his view, it kinda makes sense. At least to me. We barely see Emilia, but he saw and spoke with Emilia for a while. Don't take my word for it though, that's just my two cents xD |

Then, he wanted to run away. That isn't developing. If you're original statement was about potential character development, then I would have agreed. I was not being serious about the few days thing by the way. He clearly stayed more than that at the mansion.It still hasn't been a lot of time. Like I said in my OP, they're just kids so it isn't that serious. Still cringey af. |
 Best girling intensifies! i want a SOL spinoff-series about Subaru und Rem making a family NOW Im not a big fan of characters sreaming their heart out at each other all in tears and drama (heck there even started to appear a bunch of white birds out of nowhere lol) especially when its going on for a whole fucking episode But what they said made sense and it was overall good pulled of (the ost helped) so i guess it was justified here |

| Papa Puck shows his Big Daddy side and gives the cold shoulder to everyone like a boss. Natsuki finally getting his shit together, losing it again, and regains it because of best girl Rem. She really had planned out their future from zero. The first time I actually shed tears in the series. "Subaru, I believe in you. Let's start from square on- no...zero!" "I love Emilia. I'm weak so pls halp." Natsuki why. Why reject the best girl. She couldn't handle the friendzone at the end lelz. I liked the clever title drop tho. Can't wait to see how they'll deal with the obstacles past that checkpoint. |

| So rem see Subaru exactly as he see Emilia. His time was stopped and he wasted most of his time before he came in this world and Emilia somehow defreeze it. The Subaru Rem know and the actual Subaru are as different as the Emilia Subaru know and the actual Emilia |
| this one episode contains the least action but got the story moving far from what other episodes had accomplished good ep, subaru said everything that should be addressed. his words were all on point. it even got me at some point. (actually at most) lol fuck you subaru seriously and you dont always see an mc flat down sink a ship that fast. i like how he said it without sugarcoating. at least he's honest and that even made his connection to rem stronger. and rem showing why shes the best girl. i hope emilia catches up because even when rem got rejected, shes still far ahead. i hope to see deeper onto emilias views and thoughts i wonder how will this episode change the pattern of the previous ones. it's refreshing to see something postive from re zero once in a while definitely 5/5 |

| Poor writing at its best. I never really understood why the **** he fell in love with Emilia in the first place, especially such a "deep" love as he portrays it. I mean she "saved" him and she's "beautiful" and that's about it. I mean, Rem has given him more reasons to love her in a single episode than Emilia did in 18 episodes. The guy who wrote ReZero is trying to make us relate with the love aspect where you can't control your emotions therefore it's perfectly fine for him to still love Emilia, except hes forgetting that people don't magically fall in such a deep love with hardly any stimulation for it, if anything Emilia would be something more related to a Crush and not actual love, even if he did love her it wouldn't be anywhere near as deep as he's trying to portray due to the lack of stimulation for it & the overall time spent together wasn't that much either. He and anyone else in this world could easily fall in love with someone else in his situation and it would be perfectly reasonable to do so. |

| Was their a reason he had to mercilessly break her heart for this story to fuckin progress, I mean he proposed to her, got rejected, got confessed to and broke her heart in minutes, was their ever a fucking reason the author had to make Rem and Subaru have this kind of relationship in order for the story to progress, I mean this episode was almost all dialogue about how Subaru is such a looser, how Emilia is so awesome and Screw you rem for ever falling in love in the first place. I really love this show and compared to anything airing now, its Golden but I really could have lived with skipping this episode. |
