| I don't think idea of whitelisting will work properly and i doubt many people know about this thread. They will start complaining as soon as image won't embed. English sites are one thing and let's just forget japanese sites for a moment, i have seen images from chinese and korean sites. And lots of random sites from google image search results. Who will report/add all these domains. It won't work most of time and you have to remember the whitelist, which is impossible. |

I've removed it from the list for now. Han-yuu, I know there are a lot of problems with the whitelist solution. The staff have voiced most, if not all, of these problems to Xinil already. However, Crave wants MAL to be as secure as possible and the whitelist is a preventative measure towards this goal. Unfortunately, it means a lot of hotlinking will no longer be possible, but hopefully uploading these images to a site like imgur before linking them - or just linking the URL like we've been forced to do until now - will suffice for the future. I apologise for the added inconvenience this causes. |

The topic will still remain open for people to request domains to be added to the whitelist and the summary of public domains will still remain in post #2. I just don't want people who stumble across this thread right now to think the whitelist is already pushed - when it's not. This topic is here to stay. |
