That was so sad :( I was really hoping Maya and her mom would get to meet while she was still alive...

I wonder what Maya will do about Hayami now.. I kind of feel bad for him to since he didn't mean for it to end up this way, but it was still wrong of him, even if he was trying to get her more popular.

:| That girl pretending to be this "Norie" person... She's horrible. She's made herself out to be a really good villain -- i.e. really easy to dislike.

Poor Maya... If anything she needs a little time to grieve, for heaven's sake! You can't expect someone to just keep on working right after someone really important to them has passed away! I mean, seriously... Give her at least a week to get a hold of herself and come to terms with it all...

So the death flag was raised and executed huh? I feel sorry for Maya now although her decision at the end of this episode isn't exactly a wise one imo.

Hard to feel sorry for Maya when her "friends" didn't want her around any more; this was the first time she made any effort to meet them, she still hasn't looked for her mother either.

And now Maya is depressed because her mother died who she hadn't seen in half a decade and parted with on poor terms. Even when visiting her dead mother as soon as acting was brought up she got over her grief. A bit creepy if you ask me.

Not sure you have any right to berate Hayumi Mizuki, Maya could probably use her friends right now who you kept away and then what happened at the end wouldn't have happened.

I knew the mom would die but didn't think she would die so dramatically to the point where I'm crying. God that was the saddest episode in the whole anime... the fact that the mom escaped the hospital and walked, hitched a ride, able to find a theater that played Maya movie was the build up. And it built up nicely.

Everything in this episode was executed nicely. And when she finally took her last breath after coming to peace and hearing her daughter again, she passed away. Maya is in a ball of confusion, sorrow and lonely.

It's a shame of how much control other people have on her life who want her to experience all types of emotions just so she can be a super star. It's awful !

Masumi is mostly to blame for Maya not being able to see her mother before she died, but I feel that if Tsukikage hadn't cut her off from her mother when Maya first started acting, it wouldn't have even been a problem in the first place.

The episode started already with the change in tone but this was unexpected. Her mother died while listening to her daughter acting in a cinema. That's really depressing.

『 The truth has power because it’s the truth.
And because it is the truth, that makes it just.
It’s persuasive, isn’t it? Don’t you want truth like that? 』

The series has really taken a dark turn now. It doesn't look like evil deeds are necessarily punished, for example that Ondine director's deeds have been forgotten now, and since they've been hinting at a possible romance with Hayami, I expect he'll have some kind of redemption arc.

Honestly, Masumi deserved the hate for this one. He should have just let her meet her mom instead of tying to build publicity for the play. But I also blame the teacher of Tsukikage for tearing the letters/destroying the packages she sent her and breaking the mother-daughter bond from the start. I hated how the only way to be successful was to break off family system. I also blame Maya for not even bothering to visit her mom when she was still well. She ran away at 13 but now she is 18. For 6 years, she neglected her mom.
