Well, that settles it. She finally was able to say who she is with confidence. Tears were shed of course ;.;

7/10. I honestly kinda enjoyed this tbh.

It was a great manga, and though I like the ending, the transition from the festival to the final scene was kinda rough. Still this manga got a 9 from me. 。◕‿◕。

It's a mystery to us all...I think

“Girls can wear jeans and cut their hair short and wear shirts and boots because it’s okay to be a boy; for girls it’s like promotion. But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading, according to you, because secretly you believe that being a girl is degrading.”—Ian McEwan, The Cement Garden (1978)

They never mention Kikuchi's full name right? But well, i bet it was some random guy anyways and not him.

Really did enjoy this, the feel when she said her name :)
Biggest question is whether she ended up marrying Kikuchi >.<

If you pay close attention to Kikuchi and her daughter at the end, you could see that their eyebrows are similarbut that doesn't mean anything, I know. Still it was a very nice read.

In chapter 4 she said that she can't say her name because it begins with a vowel, but in this chapter she married and change her name to Takemiya, so I wonder why she still can't say her name?
It's pretty good for a short manga, though.

Unless we read the original version, I don't think we should question this too much. I don't have the Japanese version (I read Japanese), but I feel her issue refers to a specific aspect of the Japanese language that translators can't really transcribe well. I read the official French translation, and in this version, it's the consonants she has trouble with, while names are said in the Western order (Shino Oshima), so it's her first name she can't say. At least, the French version is consistent, as her first name doesn't change and Takemiya too begins with a consonant anyway. If anyone has read the Japanese version, they might have a better insight.

Shinokayo! It seemed too fast to me, don't you see potential for Given? With further development it would have been a great story.
In the end the message of friendship remained intact, and it was nice.

As much as I enjoyed it, it fell flat in the end with that awkward abrupt finale and epilogue.
Seeing that form of extreme social anxiety through stuttering from insecurity and trouble with specific vowels which influenced a sense of shame and depression, to the point of crying from desperation of her difficulty to speak properly was intriguing.
Somewhat relatable, but nonetheless, it was easy to care for our protagonist Ooshima, even if, albeit sad, her introduction and crying after Kayo kicks her out was funny.

The short length isn't a problem, because the story succeeds in evoking the protagonist's frustration of struggle and sense of betrayal and hatred towards the guy who bullied her by mocking her self-introduction, which is bittersweet when he apologizes, but later gets told to shut up out of spite.
It feels rushed, but the plot of this new friend Kayo who's a musician guitar enthusiast inviting Shino to sign with her as the Kayo Shino band at the festival was nice from Shino's talent in singing, even if it didn't happen at a moment where Shino "disbanded" when the guy joined, even though his intent was to speak to her more.

After Kayo performs on her own at the festival with good guitar playing but bad singing, and when Shino bursts her emotions at the festival in front of her classmates was awkward...
I empathize with a soft-spoken, reserved person or whatever bursting out what they feel to the public. This wasn't bad, but as awkward as it was and realistically may have caused more bullying if not defended properly- the story skips to an epilogue where she's a mother, still (probably occasionally) stutters her introduction on the phone, and gets saved by her daughter, with a new last name.

I'm guessing Kikuchi the guy who bullied her may be her husband.
It's somewhat decent. Sweet bond of friendship. Bittersweet struggle of insecurity, with a hint of unknown unrequited love, but the ending is awkwardly executed. 4/10.

If it was longer, it could have a great one-season anime adaptation and it could have potential to be pretty popular, maybe like Bocchi the rock
