Ive seen alot of anime characters who talk too themselves and get over-heard by the other characters by accident

and I rarely see them actually talk too us

key characters, or anime that do either and your opinion on it.

I always liked it and Think it adds too the fun and comic relief.

I thought of Kyon and Watashi. When done well, it's really fun to be in the head of someone insightful or snarky. Done badly...Well...

To me? Anime character talking too me?

YOU TALKING TOO ME!????

I don't think that's ever happen..not that I can remember...not with what i watched..

talking to themselves, Yeah I like it because it helps me get to know the character better. I mean that is the whole point on why they do that after all (most of the time)

It is quite funny, like the one played in katanagatari.

Or any anime where the 'straight' person in the show mentioning facts that they had to act reasonable and true to their cliche, or care about ratings.

In most video things I think internal monologue is really just story telling laziness, but because anime evolved out of manga (where internal monologue is almost a necessity) I think it's okay.

I've seen characters breaking the wall before in anime; I don't specifically remember them all, but I remember when Vash did it in Trigun.

I think it's funnier when it happens in manga actually, but it's not funny everytime. Not if I've read several in a short period where characters are breaking the fourth wall and such, or if it's too out of place (which just happened recently-- it was a tense-ish scene and all of a sudden the stoic character was like "What'll happen if the main character dies here?!" or something. Didn't find that one funny.)

If you are indeed talking about breaking the fourth wall, then I don't really mind it. Joshiraku used it a lot and was pretty damn funny to boot.

I find it cute sometimes and annoying others.
Depends on the show really.

I usually find it pretty funny or I'm indifferent towards it, I can't remember getting annoyed by any character with this trait.

Sometimes it's pretty funny when characters speak to the audience. There was a fucking funny cutscene in Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door when the disguised villain out of nowhere said "you there, I know it's pretty obvious who I am, but don't tell Mario".

Please use it.

To answer your question, I don't mind when characters talk to themselves. It's pretty normal though it gets annoying when they talk about someone who's right next to them and they somehow don't hear them.

It depends on the anime and specifically the character. Take Kyon from Haruhi Suzumiya or Houtaru from Hyouka for example.

That was my most favorite out of all the Paper Mario games :)

I do, actually. I think it's fun when they break the fourth wall to explain more on how they feel.

I chose "Some characters are ok, not all though" ,I think it's pretty self-explanatory.It could be used to know what the character is thinking, get to know him better or for pure comedic reasons.

Yes, I love it when the antagonist for no apparent reason is rambling aloud about their mastermind plan when they're completely alone and someone walks in and over hears them. Great plot development. /sarcasm.

thread title gave me scary memories of blues clues and dora the explorer..

I'm better off with anime characters not talking to me unless it's part of a joke where they then say something along the lines of "Oh, I like to pretend I'm part of a show" when someone overhears them talking to a wall

Yes, I don't mind monologing in my anime. It's sometimes amusing. Hell I do it myself.

When anime breaks the fourth wall, it's mostly annoying to me. Except Gintama, because the self awareness is a HUGE part of the show.
