| My profile avatar is male, but my forum avatar is female - big deal..besides if you're really that interested in somebody's gender you can just go read it on their profile. Most of the time people use avatars because they find that character cute or they just like the character in general, they have no intention gender switching. |

| don't really find anything wrong with guys using female avatars and vice versa as long as you don't pretend to be a chick/guy LOL. I play female characters in MMORPGs as well but i make it pretty fucking clear that I'm a dude. |

| I don't know if this is true for other people, but for me the character designs in anime rarely reflect the type of male I find appealing. I don't like Justin Bieber's in real life and I don't like them in anime. When anime does try to have "manly" characters, I find they usually fail miserably. Female character designs usually perfectly mirror my taste in reality (as perfectly as stylized 2D characters can) , so I prefer to look at them. |
