What is your favorite anime that takes place outside of Japan or has Western-inspired themes (i.e. Antique Bakery - French pastries)?

Mine would have to be Cowboy Bebop (the entire galaxy) and Kuroshitsuji (England). I only chose those two because the setting is a big part of their storylines.

Rozen Maiden Ouverture: prequel that takes place in Victorian England.
I felt it really expanded on Suigintou's character effectively; I really felt sorry for her after watching it. :(

I really hope Michiko to Hatchin turns out well, because I find the setting particularly compelling.

Mine seem to have a pattern.

Top wo Nerae! 2 - In space.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - In space.
Monster - In Germany.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes - In Germany in space.

Most of my favorites aren't set in Japan. I find those to be more unique than a typical story set in Japan.
