DRAW YOUR SWORD !!!!

As indicated by earlier SoundScan data, "K" sold much more the Amazon Stalker figures. There are some who theorized that female consumers are more likely to buy at storefront. Of course we do not know if this applies (or how much it applies) to "K" but I've seen quite a bit of talk around that. Vol.1's figure of >5000 is pretty respectable. For vol.2 the ~3300 figure is not bad, but I wonder if this indicates a downward trend for sales (since vol.1 is cheaper but it has good extras), or perhaps some people do not want to spend so much money on one anime title?

Nobuna and TariTari are stable, really stable.

Evangelion is back in chart, obviously the recent airing of the earlier movie on TV had an impact.

Ixion Saga DT OP/ED single was expected to sell well, BUT NOT THAT WELL. Estimate was about 10-15k. Bundling the OP and ED together of course helped sales a lot, but I guess that it was played by some up-and-coming young group known by mainstream pop music fans definitely helps.

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Where does that estimate of 10-15k come from? The first week sales of Golden Bomber's previous 3 singles were 40k, 38k and 51k. It was obvious that the Ixion OP/ED wouldn't sell as much as those, but I doubt the estimate would have been that low.

Well K definitely exceeded sales expectations. Atleast on Amazon.

Wouldn't be surprised if it ranks again at/near the end of the season.

Very odd to release it this early though.

Not really interested in the sales this week except some of the singles. I've been waiting for the full versions of a few songs so yeah, that's cool. But seriously lol at the DT ED selling so well.

It came from some estimates I saw in Japanese forums some time ago (before any data from Oricon daily chart came out). I think the idea is by comparison to AKB0048 where the artists did not use its actual name as the artist name, the jacket/lyrics putting more stress on the anime, and the marketing not done as much in the usual music channels. Hence the estimation, which turned out to be over-cautious.

Also the CD comes out in 4 versions could also help boost sales. I wonder if previous singles by Golden Bomber have multiple versions too?

SAO managed to do a 3rd week in sales. Nice. Well, not many came out in the corresponding week so that's why. It's still good. Did this tie or surpass IS's sales for the first volume?

2 volumes of K are out already? That's pretty early and weird. Both volumes did well I guess, the first more than the second.

And lol, Ixion Saga OP and ED. Better grab both and listen to it. The ED is just lulz.

I'm pretty sure K was predicted to be a 10k average seller before the Fall season started. So it's actually below expectations but underestimated by Stalker due it probably being a store front title (Animate for example).

Just putting out the "before season" prediction for reference. It indeed beat the expectations if you just look at the Stalker points accumulated.

And Stalker just completely changed in the last hour. All the BD and DVD v1 are now combined in one table :O

It's a 29.2% drop. Not too comparatively terrible for a discounted Vol. 1→Vol. 2, but those are bad in general so that's not saying much. And this means all the other volumes will be closer to 3-4k than 5k. Average sales will likely be around 3.5-4k. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the production committee was very much hoping for at least double that. Looks like they threw a lot of money at this and aren't getting a return.

Not through anime anyway. Maybe they can move merchandise, but I really don't know.

Just FYI, basically no anime comes out next week. Just some Jewel Pet DVDs and the last volume of Acchi Kocchi.
It will be interesting to see four second weeks of K.

*insert hopeless dreaming about 338 more Horizons*

@bippo, are they talking about Yassan's lackey?

I hope episode 6 of K boosts sales a bit. Volume 2 had the first OST, right? I'm surprised it didn't sell more just for that. Definitely worth it.

Yeah, Kamamoto
I'm pretty surprised by that actually; I was under the impression Yata himself was one everyone is going nuts over.

Just this one split-second cut in ep.6 was enough to trigger an outburst of heartthrob for this chap as the shock is just too big (people just demand to see him more):
As for Yata, the impression is that he is more like a wild brat. Handsome ikemen is what female fans are after.

What is the rush with K?
Don't you usually start to release BD/DVD at the end of the season?
I honestly don't think 6 episodes is enough promotion.

Also, although 3000Yen/episode isn't that much, but isn't 9000 at once a lot? Volume 1 + 2, that's quite a bit of money.

K ended up being a flop.

Goes to show that people aren't stupid to buy an anime based on artistic merit alone.

I wouldn't call 3.7k a flop. Not great, but not a flop either.

K had the highest production values of the season, other than perhaps Chuu2.

And the volumes were cheaper than the average anime BD.

It flopped big time.

Wait. I know the first volume was discounted...I looked on amazon...the second one is more costly than the first.

I still think GirlPan will be almost as overestimated as Tari Tari, but pretty awesome anyway.

What is your basis for thinking that? Only people I've seen that think it won't live up to Stalker expectations is because it didn't have much hype pre airing, but it was an anime original so nobody knew what to expect from it.

¥ 6,300 is somewhat on the low end of normal for 2-episode BDs these days. The average MSRP of a one-cour late night TV anime LE BD in 2011-2012 (n=821) is ¥7,197 give or take. ¥7140 is most common.

>70% of releases fall between ¥6300 and ¥7350 inclusive though, so ¥6300 is still in the normal range. Third most common price point overall, though a distant third behind ¥7350 and ¥7140 (combined they make up almost half).

Really? I see. But its still in the normal range right? Though I didn't know about it being low end.

Ah, I see. Yeah those are some pretty good reasons to expect an overestimation... I'm just hoping it'll do at least 10k. I feel that unless its being overrated at a Tari Tari kinda level, it should do that.

I think K did not sell that much because both vol. 1 and 2 came out on the same day. If we added both the sales of vol 1 and 2 together that would probably be the amount if just vol 1 came out.

Personally I don't like how K BD/DVDs came out so fast. They should of waited for the anime to finish.
