This has been on my list of show to watch for a while now. Having completed it, I would say it was a lot of fun. It's nothing deep nor is it anything overwhelming original. It's just fun. Fun can go a long way though.

The art and animation are unremarkable, though far from bad. The story is quite thin and simplistic. It rids on humor, some of which can be hit and miss. There's a lot here that isn't at all great. Regardless, I'd still give it an 8 just because the characters and the humor when it does work make it a silly, fun read more

Before watching this anime, I had my doubts. But in the first ten minutes, I was hooked. Why? Because of the humor.

Ixion Saga DT doesn't really have much of a plot going (yet) but from what I've seen, it seems like an episodic anime to me.

For those of you who do not like episodic animes, then don't watch, but for those of you who like Sket Dance and Gintama, then I recommend. This show is funny, likable, and overall you'll be very pleased with it.

I feel a plot brewing, so don't worry- this anime has a direction!

If you come into this hoping for the standard sword & sorcery, historical/fantasy shounen adventure fare, you're probably going to be disappointed.

I rather despise that genre, because they're all the same. Once you've seen one, you might as well have seen them all. They re-use the same tropes and devices, and don't much original fare to offer.

This series takes those tropes, and irreverently plays with them, providing parody and lots of unexpected content. And trolling. So bad it hurts. I haven't had so many laughs over an anime since "Daily Lives of High School Boys" (which, incidentally, has the same director; who's read more

Just finished watching Ixion Saga .Mixed Feelings about that one :

Ixion Saga can me summarized as an attempt to replicate the relaxed/wtf/lol?/laid-back style Gintama made popular in Anime .
In this style a lack of a greater overarching plot , comedy and dirty jokes , excellent sound-soundtrack choices and strange character are the standard .The style is great , Gintama that introduced it in the Anime industry a masterpiece .Let's see how Ixion Saga DT fared though :

As i said before the specific sub-genre/style Ixion belongs to lacks plot lines as it's main points .Even though i take that as a given , still Ixion Saga read more

Both are comedy-oriented in an RPG-esque setting.
Both are hilarious.
- Both are comedy-oriented, with some action, that is hilarious most of the time.
- Both by the same director, who also directed School Rumble. The director's touch and experience from Gintama is obvious in Ixion Saga DT.
- Both have creative humor with hilarious plot-twists.
- The humor in both is similar; puns, parodies, energetic characters, traps, virginity, balls..etc
Ixion Saga DT and Outbreak Company both deal with a fantasy world in which characters are enlisted to help others. The main male protagonist is familiar with the otaku culture because of his own experiences.

There is a lot of parody and comedy going around both series. The main male protagonist also has odd fantasies regarding many characters on various occasions. There is some "action" but most of it is presented in a fun style rather than anything serious. Most of the episodes are also standalone rather than a linear arc.

Both involves the characters getting in to the game.

Both involves a 4 people protagonist.

One is more of First Person RPG, while the other is sort of a MMORPG.

In one anime the character can get out of the game either voluntary or if he/she got beaten in the game, while in the other anime the character is trapped in the game.

The female lead in one anime is an 8 year old kid, while the female lead in the other anime is a year older than the MC.
It is similar to SAO 'cause the Hero in Ixion DT got sucked up in an alternate dimension and seems to travel with a few companions to find a way to get back to the RW. Although there's not really any romance on this anime. Although in SAO the hero didn't get "sucked up" instead in SAO the hero just got "Stuck in a VRMMORPG".. SO JUST WATCH IT

Both MC's are avid gamers.

Both MC's found themselves trapped in the game.

Both MC's have to find a way out of the game itself.

In one anime the MC is also playing against other players who were in a life or death situation, while in the other anime the MC is the only one (from his world) who is an actual life or death situation.

The MC in one anime was kidnapped and brought to a deserted tropical island to play an actual life or death version of the game he played. While in the other anime, the MC unknowingly volunteered to be transported into an alternated world of the game.

One anime has an extra action genre, while the other has comedy as its extra genre.

One anime is more of blood and gore, while the other is more of fantasy.
