Both are comedy-oriented in an RPG-esque setting.
Both are hilarious.
- Both are comedy-oriented, with some action, that is hilarious most of the time.
- Both by the same director, who also directed School Rumble. The director's touch and experience from Gintama is obvious in Ixion Saga DT.
- Both have creative humor with hilarious plot-twists.
- The humor in both is similar; puns, parodies, energetic characters, traps, virginity, balls..etc
Both series have the Main Character stay in another world that is related to a Video game

That's it for the similarities...I guess...
Similarities:

Both involves the characters getting in to the game.

Both involves a 4 people protagonist.

Dissimilarities:

One is more of First Person RPG, while the other is sort of a MMORPG.

In one anime the character can get out of the game either voluntary or if he/she got beaten in the game, while in the other anime the character is trapped in the game.

The female lead in one anime is an 8 year old kid, while the female lead in the other anime is a year older than the MC.
Watch the first episode and you will see why Ixion Saga DT is like Gintama. A lot of the jokes are variations of Gintama jokes. This anime was totally inspired by Gintama. Gintama is so unique that it inevitably was going to inspire a whole new genre of anime. I think Ixion Saga DT is the first of many Gintama-genre anime to come.
In both series, there is a theme where a main protagonist travels to another world where his life seemingly changes forever.

There is a lot of humor and fun dialogues in both series. Along with that, there's the humor, drama, and action. In Ixion Saga DT, that action is presented in the way that is considered to be more a parody. On the other hand, Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?'s action is more serious but still maintains that fun atmosphere.

Both series also has some fun interactions between the cast members in the new world that they goes to.
Similarities:

Both MC's are avid gamers.

Both MC's found themselves trapped in the game.

Both MC's have to find a way out of the game itself.

Dissimilarities:

In one anime the MC is also playing against other players who were in a life or death situation, while in the other anime the MC is the only one (from his world) who is an actual life or death situation.

The MC in one anime was kidnapped and brought to a deserted tropical island to play an actual life or death version of the game he played. While in the other anime, the MC unknowingly volunteered to be transported into an alternated world of the game.

One anime has an extra action genre, while the other has comedy as its extra genre.

One anime is more of blood and gore, while the other is more of fantasy.
The way the story is told is similar. There is an over all goal which they are headed towards but the focus of the anime is not on that goal but more on the journey and comedy.

They also share the whole 'happen-to-run-into-each-other-and-travel-together' plot like classic adventure animes.
I've only watched episode 1 of DT so this is what I can say so far:
somewhat similar art style
Same type of world/kingdom with fighting, magic and flying creatures.
The main characters are somewhat similar
The main characters ends up in another world in a really weird way
and both animes have a little of "crossdressing" too

They don't take themselves seriously.

There is a setting here for both of them. Police VS mafia and saving the world kind of settings. But they don't care about that. Everything is about making jokes, making them both Boke-Tsukkomi slapstick kind of anime.

It just that doing slapstick in average modern high-school setting get old fast, so why not do it where the existence of superpower, werewolves, magic and world destruction is real? That gotta make things interesting.

Too bad, that has already started to get old too.
Genuinely funny shows that made use of casual sexual euphemism and being less random than most Youtube viral style "so random it's funny" we see in anime more and more. Stuffs like waterskiing jesus polar bear in a bikini eating spaghetti with noses are not the kind of humor being used here. If you prefer randomness, there are better shows, and even the internet is here to your disposal.

SYD, while not one of a kind, is much more original than most school anime that look similar. It is dialogue-based fun, without the over-reaction we see in other cheap funny anime. Well, those are funny too, but using weird facial reaction or shouting to tell viewers when to laugh gets old fast.

Ixion Saga, while not everyone will prefer, or even recognize its jokes as jokes, surely has its own niche out there. It makes good use of lame pun and sexual euphemism, just like SYD, but also features some action that isn't out of place in this halfbreed comedy-action, not as much as some other anime with CLEARLY OUT-OF-PLACE DRAMA that pop up in the middle of slapstick jokes routine. That lukewarm, neither dramatic nor funny feeling is less of a problem in Ixion Saga.
Anime takes place in medieval type setting but now in the modern world

In Ixion Saga DT main character gets transported into a medieval world while in Hataraku- Demon king gets transported to modern day Tokyo.
The unlikely comedy that actually has a potential to be serious dramatic action, but somehow disregard any credibility they build up over the course of the show, end up as a full-blown comedy.

Sci-fi fantasy settings with fancy weapon and power? Check. Evil knight controlled by some higher secret order? Check. The chosen dude who accidentally jumped into other world and happen to bel the one who will ultimately destroy all evil? Check. Ixion Saga is an old-school fantasy andventure with all mentioned above, but WITHOUT any intention to actually become the full-blown badass anime. It's just a slapstick comedy with unusual setting. That's it. Half season in and they NEVER take on any threat, war, famine, or evil overlord seriously.

Galaxy Angel? This decade old space opera is no different. Macross like space combat machine with sexy pilot? Check. Powerful artifact from the past that shouldn't get into wrong hand? Check. Evil organization and disastrous timebending event? Check. Trying to actually fight evil and not fooling around baking burnt cake and finding lost cats? No fucking way.

Is it bad? Not really. They are not lukewarm like those action harem with plenty of boobies catfighting each other and confuse viewers what they are watching. The feeling "Are you trying to be funny or badass?" should have come up to you once when watching the "bad" mix of drama and comedy in many of the anime I don't care to name.

These two are not. Ixion Saga is funny enough to actually be a comedy, and Galaxy Angel lack of mentioning any conflict make them an obvious candidate for just-for-fun show. For the first season at least.
I think this anime have a similar jokes but different settings. The jokes that make me feel similar is about KINTAMA jokes.Seiyu in Gintama also has a role in this anime
Both shows have a silly and clueless main character that can come through in tough times. They both have "villains" that are the "not really" villains and are silly (Student Council and Erec's group)
Both anime has the adventure/RPG style to it, where the hero is kinda thrown into trouble in some way. Druaga's a bit more segmented since every episode is them climbing one floor of the tower (in most cases). The biggest similarity I find are the humour/gags in both stories, though Ixion's jokes lean towards the more perverted side of things. They are both extremely enjoyable if you give it a few episodes to sink in.
the main character plays a game
he then was teleported to a dimension with the same concept as the game
he finds out that he needs to save that world

the feel of the anime is the same, basically xD
Both protagonists find themselves drawn into a alternate reality. Both shows are comedic in its presentations with absurd weapons. In MAR the protagonist uses a talking morphing toy to fight with (main form being a giant hammer/mace). In Ixion Saga DT he uses an Alma sword that transforms into a giant rock-et hammer/sword...

The humor in MAR is very Shonen-esque and quite typical. From what I've seen of DT the humor is more geared for young adults. One of the main antagonists names is Erecpyle Dukakis...or abbreviated to E.D. as a double entendre on the name E.D. to mean both the character's name as well as the medical condition which is compacted by how he is injured/beaten by the protagonist in each encounter.

MAR is more of an authentic shonen fantasy action comedy whereas DT is more of a parody of shonen comedies (like Needless was)
Similarities:

Both involves the MC's transported in some alternate world.

Both have the same, magic, fantasy and action genre.

Both anime involves sword play.

Both have strange looking creatures.

Both MC's are trying to find a way back to their world.

Dissimilarities:

The MC in one anime is more of a gamer than an ass-kicker, while in the other anime the MC is a real ass-kicker.

In one anime the battle is more like a game in which no extras dies, while in the other anime the extras always dies.

The MC in one anime seemly enjoys being in the alternated world and doesn't seem to be in a hurry to leave, while the MC in the other anime has to use his wits to survive the world he is in with, long enough until he can go home.

One anime has a season 2 which I've dropped, and as for the other one.............we'll see.

Similarity: quick witted comedy and modern cultural references. Not much happens story-wise but the jokes and odd character cast will make you giggle.
Similarities:

Both male leads found themselves transported to an alternate world which resembles the game they were palying.

Both have the same tsundere female leads.

Both male leads have to use their wits in order to survive in the world they are in.

Both male leads have the same attitude.

Dissimilarities:

One male lead is transported in an alternate world that resembles the past, while the other male lead was transported in an alternate world which pretty much different from the world he is in.

The female lead in one anime is an 8 year old kid, while the other anime, the female lead is the same age as the male lead.

How did I skipped this.

Both shows look stereotypically fantasy/ sci-fi. However, they are essentially comedy, no more no less.
There are dramatic sequences and action scenes popping out from time to time, but it's not the bread and butter of the shows. AND the shows will do perfectly fine without them.

I believe this two qualified as 'not taking itself seriously' kind of show. It's good for casual audience seeking random humor, but is poison to those who seeks serious thrill and believable drama.
First impression makes you feel as a serious story, but in fact there is a lot of comedy moments and personalities wide variety of shapes and ages, in Benbougami ga! women comedy element here Men ....
Two average guys are summoned to a strange magical world by mistake.

Male leads possess the ability to wield a powerful weapon.

Both have a loli female lead.

Takes place in a medievil-esque land. Ixion saga DT has a mix of past and current time elements though compared to ZNT being more middle age.

Plenty of slapstick comedy.

Male leads search for a way to return to their world.

Big difference with Saito and Kon is that Saito is actually cool while Kon is a complete wimp of a hero.
The humor in both shows are similar. Both shows have the feel of being shonen-parodies and aimed at a slightly older audience. Not quite seinen but not far off.
