My anime watching is about half legal and half illegal. My favourite shows tend to fall into the legal category so of course I'll keep going. I was introduced to anime through DVDs anyway. Even with the licencing restrictions, Crunchyroll stream most of the current shows I watch anyway. I'll be fine

No. I'm not gonna spend money on cartoons.
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

No, because then most of my anime would be cut in half. Don't have that kind of money to afford boxsets or subscriptions.

Although an actually decent Anime on Demand channel that actually shows some good subbed or dubbed anime would be great. Already pay a shit load for HBO & Showtime.

Actually, that's leaning more on the 'impossible' side but if it does happen, yes, I'd stop.

Legal sites don't have as much anime as illegal sites. And I'm the type who finishes anime quickly, so I'm always watching something new every other day. I'd sooner or later run out of stuff to watch if I was using legal sites. I'm still a high school student, so I don't have an income to spend on dvds :s

That depends. It was the net that got me into anime and through illegal sources, so should that be shut down, considering I'm a poor student who doesn't get any type of funds apart from my weekly allowance from my parents($20 week for lunch money) my answer would be no. I may watch it via youtube if anything is available or on TV and settle for dubs. I can't say I'm addicted as much as some ppl on here.

Part of the reason why I watch anime is because I can get it for free.

And if every illegal source of anime was stopped you wouldn't be able to find free anime anymore?

So you never once bothered to find out the number of anime that have legal sources?
Hint:There's a lot. So many in fact that if the unthinkable happened, no more illegal sources, you might be able to find a legal source of whatever anime you are currently watching.

I tend to watch the anime for free and if I like it I'll buy the manga/dvd/bd just to support it. I would still watch, but MUCH less though

In brazil, we have to deal with 60~80% taxes. I doubt any country in Europe can top that :3

Don't we have a more current thread for this? Ah well. I guess I'd go to anime YouTubers and get their codes that give me a free month subscription to CrunchyRoll and watch all the premium shows then once they expired I would watch all the free shows. If you're asking me if I would ever pay for anime then the answer is hell no.

I'd continue to pre-order manga, and I'd still pre-order the FEW UK releases of interest... but paying for streamed content? No. I'd be better off paying for air.

No I would stop, Im not willing to spend 60+ dollars for a single anime. Nor will I ever subscribe to a streaming website.

I don't see why people are so averse to paying for streamed content. You pay an extremely low price for gaining access to watching anything and everything in a large library of anime until the period ends. Given that you usually only rewatch your favourites, this is a lot better than owning boxes of anime collecting dust. It also provides a great failsafe, since an anime you ended up not liking it will hardly affect you at all, compared to buying it and regretting it forever.

Srsly, for crunchyroll its like $6 AUD (i think) for a month (that's less than a big mac meal over here). In that time, you can potentially watch 1800 episodes of anime. How many boxsets of physical copies would that make? :S And if you absolutely want to own a physical copy of an anime, then you can also buy it. You can do both, so I don't see why people completely omit paid streaming as a valid option. :S

Nobody's going to be watching 1800 episodes in a month.

I would definitely slow down in pace. I only got into anime in the first place because it was fresh and interesting and above all, free and very accessible. One search on google video or youtube got me all the episodes I wanted. I'm definitely never going to pay 30+ bucks a series for a series I don't know if I will like.

I'd probably just end up buying my favorites and other anime I want to rewatch and watching anime for free on legal sites. With that I should at least be able to watch currently airing series and some of the most popular finished ones but I probably won't explore like I do now.

But I would probably subscribe to Crunchyroll or some shit. Buying is just too expensive.

If you can be bothered then you can use 48 hour guest passes to effectively get permanent CR membership for free.

edit: deleted my response to the thread as I realised I already posted on page 2. The availability of legal anime is still trending gradually upwards as well, which is a good thing.

It would be awesome if all anime had legal streaming and downloading. £10 a month would be nice. Obviously keep it at streaming quality and advertise the blu rays/encourage people to buy the blu rays.

Same.

There's a lot of anime already available like this on Hulu and Crunchyroll. If every illegal streaming site went away, it really wouldn't be the end of the world. There are a lot of great legal options.

I already try to watch as many legal sources as I can. Crunchyrolll majority of the time, if not funimation and if I can't get anime from there, then I just go to kiss anime, but only as a last response. Mostly because I don't want animators killing themselves over low wages like they do now.
I didn't come here to play, I came to win. Now lets play.
