THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- This one addresses the subject of bullying, from the perspective of a witness. It was unique, in both art style and direction. The animation and pastel shading gave it the feel of a animated storybook, and the soft, sepia tone gave a sense of nostalgia. Not my favorite of the project, but a nice little story nonetheless. |

I agree that it wasn't my favorite of the project but I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. When it first started my intrest wasn't high but as the story went on I began to like it more. |

Well thank the gods I wasn't targeted for bullying when I was in school. >_< Karma seems to be playing some sort of factor in this story, either you believe in it or not. And the moral imperative to stand up to what is right, though our MC sort of acted in the last possible moment, which doesn't even count as intervention but merely to purge himself of the guilt that he did nothing in the first place to help. Still a good story by my book anyway. 7/10 |
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is, Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy. |

This was surprisingly hard to watch. Had to pause in the middle and take a break. Not because it was bad, but because the topic was far too heavy. As a victim of bullying for several years (some caused by witnessing the bullies bully another person), this really struck home. I was never bullied this horribly, but I knew some people that were. You'd think, me growing up in the late 90's and early millennium, bullying would be cracked down on harder, especially in the US. However, I know it's still a problem that people deal with to this day. It's good to see things like this to promote this issue. Maybe one day, kids won't have to lie about bruises or tear-stained cheeks. Heaviness aside, I wasn't much a fan of this one, besides the plot. I didn't like the voices, didn't really like the repetitive and frankly boring background music, and even though the animation style was new and fresh, it just didn't resonate with me. 6/10 because the story saved it. Otherwise it probably would have been lower. |

Aside from the "monkey vs. monkey" sequence, which was visually and thematically interesting, this one's a little dull. It does deserve some praise for having a at lest slightly complex ending where Don transfers, the head bully is revealed to be a victim himself and possibly regrets how far things went. A shallower attempt could have ended with Don's retaliatory pantsing of the bully. |

Bulying is stupidity, mostly of young people (ofc. big old ppl tend to do so as well). One has to remember that there always will be someone stronger and older than bully. Thanks to this person, we can be assured to get support from sb when noone from friends try to help. Simple animation, nice story. |

great piece of unusual and interesting anime - seems like something has to be gov't sponsored these days in order to get stuff like this produced.......could very much relate to both the object of bullying and the guy who just looked on - a great microcosmic look at personal responsibility - it also holds true in the world at large - if we see some wrong being done to another and do nothing, something dies inside each time..... |

I was surprisingly okay with the art from the very beginning. Better than Aku no Hana's anyway... I felt bad for that one-eyed cat. I'm guilty being part of an entire class that bullied one classmate because he was different in elementary. It was horrible. I hear the bullying problem in Japan is always pretty bad. |

As a victim of bullying myself I felt connected with the story since the beggining. loved the peculiar art, the voices were cool, cooler when you learn that all the seyus for this are women. Loved that twist in the ending. I actually know someone like yaragase. 10/10 |

Yeah that was difficult to watch. Not that I can't enjoy some cheap toilet humor (I mean lol look at my forum avatar) bu the farting/farting talk here was not necessary. It was a very minor detail but I still think it counts seeing how this is only a 24 min special. |

Hah Being bullied is for the weak and ugly Interesting animation style though Reminds me of Yuasa Masaaki's surrealistic style (NOT the art. The animation) But of course, it's still about something uninteresting It's like those French shorts BORING |

I take it that this movie tries to battle bullying. It tries to tell everyone to step up and defend weak. But... that's not how real world works. In reality it's better to look away, if you don't want your own share of problems. Listen to your self-preservation. Truth is that if you are helping someone you are doing it just foryourself, on YOUR own set of rules, for YOUR own sense of accomplishment, for reason that YOU alone can feel good after that. Those who try to be heroes of justice are having hard life. It is sad but everyone should think of themselves in the first place. Be selfish for their own sake. Defending the weak may be noble act but it won't help you survive in this harsh world. So, it was nice mirror to big problem of modern society but from educational point of view it was a little too idealistic. But at least it gives you some ideas to think about. 6/10 |

Rather interesting style of animation, it reminds me of a really old short movie from the 80's I watched a while back, rather nostalgic storytelling but the theme of bully makes it a little bit hard to watch. Wish we could've seen how Don was doing after his transfer, instead of just a letter. |

Yaragase was also bullied, I wonder did he get bullied after or before he bullied Don and the kid? Don has transfered because of him, I hate him for doing that to such a cute kid. I think this movie showed that no one is above bullying and we shouldn't mind our business but act too to stop bullying. Very educational and the animation is not bad. |

If the guy who did the protect young kid being beaten did this in my country he probably would get killed. But whatever about the bullying, I didn't like how no one took the cat home, what's the point of the kid feeding and protecting him if he let the cat fend for himself on the streets (??) The other kid didn't care and the shop owner didn't care too, poor kitty even lost an eye. The bully was deserved. |
