This season I dropped Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita afte the opening, but normally I wait 1 - 3 episodes before I add it to my list. If I drop it it's always after I have seen half of it.

How dare you.

I think that about 2-4 episodes is about right for a 12-13 episode series

I usually drop a show after the first episode.

Sometimes, if I sense some promise, I'll force myself through it. It pays off sometimes (Hokuto no Ken, Kare Kano), but sometimes it doesn't (School Rumble, Hanasaku Iroha).

Yeah, the opening is misleading to say the least.

4 episodes for an anime with 10~13 episodees
5~6 episodes for an anime with 24~52 episodes
at least 9 episodes for a bigger anime

3 Episodes is generally my benchmark unless it's so bad I can't even get that far.

1/5

So that my score can drag down the anime's mean score lol

One or two... I only drop after the first when I really hate it...doesn't matter to me how good it will get later. Good example would be Tanken Dryland at the moment. Didn't like it and hated the visual style so much.
And I don't rate a dropped anime...no matter how much I actually watched of it.

It kinda varies when it comes to me dropping animes. Sometimes I'll drop them after the first episode, sometimes I'll drop it about 1/3 of the way through and sometimes about 1/2 way. Usually my reasons for dropping vary. If the anime bores me to death or something better comes along...there are animes that I have considered picking back up whenever my currently watching slate slows down...well...it hasn't so far.

I don't have a set number. I drop when I've had something On-Hold for ever and have absolutely no interest in ever continuing it. Or, in the cases of Bokura ga Ita or that horrifying show with the creepy pretty men trying to make the scary ugly girl pretty (I hate it too much to even remember the title), when the show makes me physically ill and I can't stand it anymore. I only got through one episode of the latter. Like I actually got a headache and it made me just want to get drunk and die somewhere. The hatred was that intense.

I have no qualms dropping a series within minutes of it starting. The argument "it gets better" never made much sense to me.

Yeah, a TV show getting better than it's introductory episode(minutes) is impossible and absolute nonsense. There's simply no way for something you don't like to ever improve.

Alright, so I was curious.

If you dislike an anime you are watching, how many episodes do you give it before you drop it?

For me, I usually give a series about 6 episodes before I decide to drop it.

Considering that for the majority of series, 6 episodes is about half, is that too generous?

Do you notice earlier that you are ready to drop a series? How many episodes do you give it to make it up?

Just interested. ;)

I don't have a specified number.. it's just whenever I feel that it's really not worth continuing. If that's the first episode then it's the first episode. If it's later, it's later. For ones that I do drop on the first episode, if I hear/read really good things about it later on or after it's finished, I might go back and try it again.

3 ep is more than enough time to waste on a piece of shit you don't enjoy...

1 ep if it's very obvious how shitty it is from the get go

5 or more, but it really depends on how bad the anime is. :P If it's not that terrible, but not that good either, then I may watch the whole thing.

3-5 for me, but it definitely depends on the length, rating, and popularity of the anime.

Depends on the anime, some of them start of horrible but then become amazing(Gunslinger girl S2 comes to mind, went from a 4 to a 9(8.9)).

So i'd say it depends on the characters, if the plot is bad, the plot might get better.
If the characters are really annoying I will drop it earlier.

usually around 3, most anime will have introduced characters, setting and plot by 3 episodes as well as give a tone of how the anime will play out. I usually don't drop anime but if I really object to it I will give it till episode 3 to redeem itself, if it hasn't done so by then it most likely means it just isn't my cup of tea and I'll move on.

5 if there's any sign of life. Sometimes even good anime take 3-5 to get going, to tell enough of the story to get anywhere.

1 if it's devastatingly boring.

If on the rare occasion I think an anime is so bad I don't think I'll be able to complete it (when airing), or when it just doesn't interest me (not airing), then I will drop on the first episode, which I don't count as dropping.

I have dropped only two shows, so I can't really generalize my behaviour for that too well.

Depends on how quickly I figure out I don't want to watch it. I will usually give a show at least 2 episodes, though there have been some cases where I don't even want to watch that.

I don't drop anime. There are a couple of anime in my dropped list and that's mostly because they were completely boring and I might watch them when I run out of watching the other 7,337 anime on this site.

If it's really bad then generally 1 (or even part of one like 3 minutes in, Queens Blade managed to pull this off quite wonderfully)

If it looks like it might have some merit to it I'll give it about 3 episodes

If I end up watching more then 3 episodes then I'll generally end up watching the whole thing unless of course it starts pulling some shit later on that just makes me say "forget it"

3. Sometimes halfway if i really can't decide to drop it at episode 3.

A series would have to be really bad or uninteresting for me to drop it though.
