I've watched alot of emotional scenes but none have made me actually cry. The farthest I got was watery eyes. So I'm beginning to think I'm just cold hearted :(. I'm looking for an anime that is so sad that ill have to drop tears. It doesn't have to be a sad themed anime. It could be one where you become really fond of the characters and one unexpectedly gets killed off. as long as something heartwrenching happens. those of you who don't cry too often either and one anime just somehow made you cry could you recommend it to me? Also I prefer a series that is under 60 episodes unless you believe it's truly worth it. Please dont recommend anything that's in my list already. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Try not to reveal any plot setup when recommending to me plz

First of all don't think your coldhearted just because anime doesn't make you cry. Most of the supposed to be sad stuff is melodrama and I myself instantly start to think how the creators wanted me to cry and completly destroy the effect in the process. As you said, it's the more sophisticated things like a character you started to like that can evoc stronger emotions. But until now teary eyes is also the most I got out of animes.
I wanted to recommend Mushishi and Natsume but you already watched them (Natsume has the 3rd season airing now). So let's see what might do:

Colorful (Movie) - I think this is a good candidate
Katanagatari - if you like it Spice and Wolf is also excelent
Bungaku Shoujo: Memoire + Movie - becomes quite dramatic to the end

Haibane Renmei, Saraiya Goyou, Ergo Proxy, RahXephon, Casshern Sins - all are quite depressing and worth a watch but I don't know about crying

Just watch and enjoy them. You can fell strongly about something without crying like a waterfall. :)

Wow, you didn't cry at Clannad: After story? you must really be a tough cookie! Hmm, perhaps Anohana might be a good suggestion.

Hopefully one of the suggestions people have made will break you into tears! xD

I second Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and Haibane Renmei. They're the only two series that have legitimately managed to move me to tears (even if only a little).

I can't agree more. That's the reason I don't cry half the time.

Flanders no Inu is by far the saddest anime movie I've seen; I bawled my eyes out. Also seconding Ano Hana.
