After a chance encounter with one of the most beautiful girls in school, the third year student Morishima Haruka, Junichi finds himself spending time with her, carrying books for her or having her unexpectedly jump on his back and act as she's a jockey and he's her horse. "That was Christmas Eve, two years ago. She never showed up to the date." - Junichi Tachibana, Episode 1
No no, that's not what the story is all about. Sorry to scare you about a potential spoiler. Well here goes my longer-than-normal review, because there is so much to talk about.
Amagami SS hit every note correctly. As a fan of romance, it was a very, very, enjoyable series.
Story: You have Tachibana Junichi. He has a calm and kind personality, and can be a pervert sometimes with his friend Masayoshi Umehara. As quoting above, he was stood up two years ago on Christmas Eve. That event derailed his happiness ever since. It affected him so much that he even made his closet into his bedroom. Present time, he now looks to overcome it. He starts to take interest in a popular senior at school named Haruka Morishima. She eventually makes Junichi her "pet" letting him carry her stuff. He then thinks it's a good opportunity to confess. He does, but all the hope he had in a relationship quickly shattered a couple seconds later. "I prefer someone who's reliable and older than me." (Haruka Morishima, Episode 1). Well, back to old ways now, right? Wrong. Junichi decides that he will keep trying.
Well that's a preview of Amagami SS for you. I can write so much more, but I will try to keep it short and sweet for now. The story is set into multiple arcs, in omnibus format, meaning that these arcs do not happen in the same timeline, and happens in alternate universes. Also, as you can see from the above, the story is really entertaining. Some people will walk away from this anime saying it's cliche and all, but there's not that much cliche to begin with, or it could be that I was too busy enjoying this series.
Rating: 9
Character: Character development is a must for a good romance, and Amagami does it right. Different arcs mean multiple girls. Actually, you have 6 different ones to choose from. The popular and fan favorite Morishima Haruka, the childhood friend Tanamachi Kaoru, the shy and cute Nakata Sae, the other childhood friend Sakurai Rihoko, Miya (Junichi's sister)'s friend Nanasaki Ai, and Class-rep Ayatsuji Tsukasa. They all have different traits, which makes each arc very unique and entertaining to watch. I gave it a 9 for reasons withheld, if you finish the series, you'll probably agree with me.
Rating: 9
Art: The artwork is just crisp and clear, and the art makes the characters look very nice. No, I'm not talking about Morishima Haruka in her Santa costume, well, you can Google it and judge the art by the pictures, but in general, it looks really nice. I wouldn't say it's identical to Kimi ni Todoke, but it's similar in terms of it's clarity in the art.
Rating: 9
Sound: I have the OST, why? Because it's one of the OSTs that I enjoy listening to. The background music fits really well with what's happening in the anime, whether it'd be Junichi depressed in his closet again, or it could be the first time meeting someone. The OPs, I Love and Kimi no Mama de are one of the most catchiest songs I have heard in an anime. The EDs feature the main girl of the arc singing their own song. I can't recall if there were multiple insert songs, but there was one insert song that I couldn't stop listening to. Anyways, the sound and music were just beautifully organized for Amagami. It made everything natural and added the atmosphere to your viewing experience.
Rating: 10
Enjoyment: Amagami SS was a really enjoyable series to me, and probably one of my favorite romance anime out there. It combines well-done romance, with a generous portion of comedy. If this were a game (which it is), then the replay value would be very high, and it'd be a really good game as well. Before I go, some final words: If you're starting into the Romance genre, or a fan of Romance, or even just into comedy, give this series a chance.

I would say that a hard 7, meaning it was a well-suited anime for my own personal criteria as a dreamy romantic, seems like the proper score for Amagami SS.
*note: this is my very first review of an anime, haha
There was not much of a theme throughout the anime, and if that alone indicates that this show lacks a central "aim at the heart" attraction, then I believe that at some point in the series, you might be better off just dropping it. Although I still remember certain humorous scenes that brought out a good laugh, a majority of episodes focused strictly on the activity that Junichi and his girl had planned, which is decided by the female's personal character and goals. Junichi's just there to be her supporter and fall in love–woo hoo, the end, you're welcome.
Drowned in depression and rejection, the main character seemed like an intriguing guy once I first learned his story. However, those rare times when his female of interest actually touched him in a way that soothed his lonely soul or utter pathetic-ness felt weak, and at various points I despised the simplicity of how they ended up together.
Christmas Eve, acknowledged as a day of being spent with a lover, tried to be the key "fireworks" of the series, but ended up looking like a thin, petty spark in the air. There were no surprises. By the time you reach the near-end of the 2nd arc, all 6 girls have appeared, and their personalities are also exposed. Now, that doesn't make the anime 10x more dull or predictable, but it does put into question that there may be other romances that can easily top this one.
So, why a 7? Like I said, even though my soul remained solid after watching these 6 mini love stories, I can't help but smile when recollecting how these characters' melted hearts kept the sweet mood. It's definitely not a series that will make you loosen or tighten whatever outlook on teenage relationships you already have, but I wouldn't doubt that you can deeply connect with the cute and elated experience of how he and she became high school sweethearts.

While Amagami SS does not have an incestuous relationship as a central plot point, both shows are presented in an omnibus format that allows the viewer to experience all of the available 'good-end' paths for each girl.
Both have an arc for every girl. It's not like Clannad or Kanon, oh no, but in these shows they go back in time and the main character picks out a different girl.
Yosuga's got graphic nudity and sex scenes, while Amagami's more... your average harem anime.
The concept is the same, we get to see all of the possible ending with the different girls. But... with more "hentai" ;p
Both feature a variety of girls getting together with the protagonist. After a story arc is finished, the story resets and things take a different route, leading to a romance with a different girl.
While a story arc in Amagami SS is four episodes long, the ones in Yosuga no Sora aren't as linear, some consisting of barely two eps while others take longer.
Amagami SS is a casual romance anime. Yosuga no Sora features nudity and sex scenes.
Amagami SS takes place during the winter. Yosuga no Sora takes place during the summer.
Both Amagami SS and Yosuga no Sora are based off a visual novel (Thank you Akitso for correcting me), and they both may look like a Harem anime, but they concentrate on ONE heroine. Please correct the following statement if I'm wrong.
Amagami SS seem to trigger different heroine route from the beginning of the game while Yosuga no Sora seem to contain Heroines which that can be triggered in the middle of the game. Therefore, Amagami SS will air 4 episodes for each heroine while Yosuga no Sora might air shorter epsiodes for different heroines.
If you liked the idea of watching different heroine as if you are playing a game, I suggest that you watch Amagami SS as well.
-Both animes's setting/story goes by an omnibus format, and have small arcs for each heroine that can either or not be diverging from the central plot of the story (with the setting intact)
Amagami SS - is Light Romance
Yosuga no Sora - is extreme romance xD
But the main character experiences with different girls in different timespace in different situation
Both shows story line is taken from dating game, and both shows have short storys of the main character chosing difrent girl witch lead to difrent ending.
from what i have read, and what i have watched.. i know its based off euroge
aka a dating game. so basically there is one main guy who gets to try and see how things would be with each different girl, thus like a dating game.
Both extremely repetitive with different scenerios of main guy with the girls around him.
Yosuga no Sora is just a more (unnecessarily) graphic/mature version
Both anime acts like a visual novel where the storyline is separated by different arcs... and girls... and shows how will one guy end up if he goes out with a certain girl.
Both are romantic animes. Where each girl gets episodes with the main guy portaginist then time rewinds and a new girl gets episodes with with guy
Even though the there isn't anything incestual about Amagami SS or in anyway means provocative, it's very similar to Yosuga no Sora in a more softer/cuter sense. Each girl gets to have her own time and her own episodes with the main character. Both are very good series.
Amagami SS and Yosuga no Sora are romance anime that are separated into small arcs that focus on an individual girl and her growing relationship with the main male protagonist. This is a unique trick that one does not see too often in game adaptions. Both series feature good and well developed characters mixed with amazing animation. Yosuga no Sora is certainly more ecchi based and is meant for mature audiences, while Amagami SS is much more lighthearted and will leave you with a wonderful warm feeling in the end. If you liked watching one of them you wont regret trying out the other.
Well, it's obvious . Do I really need to tell something ?
Every girl has her own arc.
Yosuga is more .. well .. there is twins .. and also umm.. it's +18.
Both show is about boy and different hot girls.....of course all the girl get their own arc so everyone gets a happy ending
Best girl always wins in the omnibus format as they cycle through each girl's arc and ending.
Both series follow the same format (omnibus format, multiple arcs)
Also, both involve romance. It's just that Yosuga no Sora features an incestuous relationship.
If you liked the the structure of the arcs in Amagami then you would be able to appreciate it in Yosuga no Sora. However, in my opinion, it isn't done as well as Amagami.
Both use the omnibus format in adaptation. There are no sex scenes or incestuous themes in Amagami though.

While not both in an omnibus format, both share the atmosphere, the plots and the feeling.
While Kimikiss revolves around the main male characters and each of their respectable relationships, Amagami SS revolves around the single male lead and his interactions with each girl that has a crush or strong feelings for him. Amagami SS's story is made up of arks for each girl while KimiKiss is just one story that bounces between characters. Both have similar feels to them so if you liked one then you'll like the other.
Kimikiss is effectively the spiritual predeccesor to Amamgami as bith are based on dating sims made by the same company.
It took one episode for me to immediately think of Kimikiss when I watched Amagami. Similar art, similar plot, similar genre.
Very similar premise and feel, i.e. a romance with a bit of drama and a hint of comedy. Not surprising since they're both from the same creator, which is obvious from the similar character designs. Other similarities include annoying little sisters, swimsuit scenes and perky upperclassmen who might just be hiding or denying their own feelings.
The two animes are based from a dating simulator of the same publisher company. Conversation simulators with lots of girls to choose.
Both the games are made by the same group, Enterbrain, which is why the art style and situations are really similar.
They are both very similar in every aspect including purpose. Both anime want the viewer to experience each heroine, they just choose to execute it differently.
Both have the same creators. if one chooses or considers the Haruka Arc for amagami, then both haruka and mao have the common theme for being a year older than their respective boyfriends junichi and kouichi, although regardless of which arc one chooses, mao and haruka share a common theme of being the only seniors of the 2 respective groups of main heroines, plus have two freshmen for each heroine. amagami's nakata and nanasaki, and more than 2 second years. kimikiss' hoshino yuumi, eriko futami shijou mitsuki and asuka sakino and amagami's sakurai, kaoru, and tsukasa. if one follows the kaoru or the morishima arc, both females may have similarities with mao mizusawa. morishima and mizusawa are both older than the male leads while with mao and kaoru, both girls have the similarities of being childhood friends and girlfriends of the male lead
Both are about love story's in different scenarios
Both animes have a romance plot within a school setting,
Both were based on a PS2 Galge or Dating Sim game,
Both have beautiful female heroines !
I DO NOT RECOMMEND watching Kimikiss Pure Rouge if you are hoping for some happy ending romance like Amagami SS. There's really no similarities between this two anime other than it's set in a school and the same creator, also the plots are totally different. Now the manga of Kimikiss does resembles Amagami SS with the different happy endings and one only male main character.
Sorry but this recommendation will only help those who have watched Amagami SS.
Both originate from dating by the same company. Kimikiss has a complicate yet interesting love-rectangle. It still have romance and comedy components. If you like Amagami SS, you should definitely check out Kimikiss.
If you watch both of these series, it will give you a very similar feeling. Although Amagami SS only has one main male protagonist, both series has that romance/school life setting. Keep an eye on both of these series if you're a fan of dating sims filled with drama, comedy, romance, and school life.
