According to their official website, FUNimation has acquired the U.S. theatrical, home entertainment, digital, and broadcast rights to Fullmetal Alchemist: Milos no Seinaru Hoshi. FUNimation will release the English dub version of the movie as "Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos" in theaters in early 2012 and on DVD and Blu-ray later in the Spring.

Also announced was FUNimation's acquisition of Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?. They have acquired the home entertainment, broadcast, digital, online, and merchandise rights for the 12 episode TV anime series and will release it as "Is This A Zombie?" on DVD in 2012.

Wait, so they licensed Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?, but nobody licensed Madoka yet?

That's nice and all, but seriously Funimation, you should get on that, like, right now, before Sentai Filmworks and all their mediocre dubbing beat you to it.

Anyways, a new FMA: B movie sounds good, although I haven't finished watching the series, since I'm currently waiting for more dub episodes (I refuse to watch it subbed.)

I seem to vaguely recall reading somewhere a Madoka dub is very unlikely.
The dialogue isn't like Bakemonogatari or Zetsubou Sensei, I don't see why it can't be done.

I'm happy about Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? too, I didn't know people hated it, I assumed everyone loved it, since it's full of fanservice and violence xD;

That the new Fullmetal Alchemist movie would get licensed was to be expected. However, not that I think it's a bad show, but Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? getting licensed surprised me a bit.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? was one of my favorites from the winter season so I'm glad to see it licensed. I'm hoping for Level E and Madoka to eventually get licensed as well.
Looking at posts on the Internet wouldn't bother me so much if people didn't also mix up he and she.

I am surprised Funi grabbed Zombie, it was a Crunchyroll show. FMA:B movie is no surprise at all, except the fact it is a pre-license.

SHAFT basically never gets licensed despite the popularity of their shows. I'm assuming it might have something to do with the amount they're asking for maybe? idk

Not true, they have a good portion of their shows licensed:
Arakawa Under The Bridge
Dance in the Vampire Bund
Hidamari Sketch(three seasons)
Maria Holic(Alive was licensed before it aired)
He is My Master
Negima!?
Mahoromatic
Pani Poni Dash
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei(although I'm not sure when the first half will be released)
Popotan
Sakura Diaries
Moon Phase
Uta Kata

Some of these are collaborations with other studios, but this shows Madoka has a decent chance of getting licensed, although when is a good question.

I liked Kore wa zombie desu ka?, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to buy it. I saw it legally on CR, so no guilt from me.

Maybe FUNi's saving Madoka Magica for a bigger con like AX or Otakon? Or maybe Aniplex nabbed it for themselves.

They don't have to dub it. Sometimes, licensing companies will license shows without dubbing them. Such examples of this include, Maria†Holic and Hidamari Sketch~

Do American licensing companies just think that people won't like shows like Madoka or Bakemonogatari? Maybe they're too expensive to license? Do they think that they're just not worth it...?

Honestly, I'd never thought in my wildest dreams that Arakawa would actually get licensed, never mind it happening before Bakemonogatari (though I'm sure it was much cheaper to license Arakawa). I'm just stuck hoping that NIS America doing Katanatagari and Arakawa could somehow lead them to nabbing Bakemonogatari.

Funi recently grabbed Fairy Tail as well, which is one of Crunchys big hits.

---

And to the people talking about Madoka getting licensed: It won't happen. Shaft asked a lot of money to license Bakem, since Shaft wants to get big money for their big selling properties, but shows like Bakem and Madoka won't be the big sellers in America they are in Japan. I heard (though only a rumor) that Shaft asked close to Bleach money to license for Bakem. Nobody would pay that for Bakem or Madoka.

Funimation dubs usually are not that great. So I'm worried for Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka. It was good in Japanese. I'm sure subs are better than dubs in this case.

I personally liked the Summer Wars and Origins: Spirits of the Past dubs, both were from Funimation.

I think a dub for Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? can work out if they bring Johnny Yong Bosch and Cristina Vee in (or other L.A. based voice actors, not counting the Funimation voice actors who moved to L.A. like Vic Mignogna, Laura Bailey, and Travis Willingham).

Without Navarre, they can't really take shots in the dark so they are going with shows that have already gained some level of popularity in legal streaming numbers. Legal streaming numbers are everything, if its popular, it will get licensed. Since things like Bakemono and Madoka did not get streamed legally worldwide, Funi may not be willing to chance on them which is perfectly reasonable from a business standpoint.

Case-in-point;
Kuragehime.
Shiki.
Fractale.
Numbers were solid from legal streaming at their sites. Fan survey showed people wanted it. Funimation got it.
Fairy Tail.
Panty and Stocking.
Is This A Zombie?
Numbers were good for CR legal streaming. They went after and got them.

FUNimation grabbing Korezom is boyh good and bad.

Good: I can now see it on a 52inch screen, being my favorite from the Winter Season and a Personal Favorite overral for my own reasons

Bad: FUNimation is totally going to Slaughter all of Yuu's parts by having bad voice actresses, especially in EP 11and the singing parts in EP 12, Ayumu's Dialogue in EP 11 ect.

I think the only FUNimation dub I liked was Sekirei, if that was FUNimation
