Mmm? I'm pretty sure this episode was about cooking and Akane successfully learning to boil water. You're thinking of episode 2.

Panda-san had to eat all the food that Akane made.
She learned how to boil water!

As a fan of the girl that sucks at cooking trope, I wholeheartedly enjoyed this episode. And at least Akane learned how to cook water lmao.

Also, Ranma's mom is such a beauty and being Genma is suffering xD

Woah, Akane actually received a level up in cooking thanks to Mrs. Saotome.

Akane's mom seemed like a genuinely lovely person. I wonder how she died and how she'd react to the current state of the Tendo household if she were still alive.

It's a shock that Ranko Ranma is a better cook than Akane. Guess he was forced to learn cooking due to travelling with his father.

Pretty sad Ranma couldn't eat his mother's cooking after all thanks to Akane. I wonder why Nodoka even bothered to return to the Tendo household.

The more I watch the OVA ED the more creepy it seems. Why are Ranma and Akane in their pyjamas and so close together? Why does it seem like the world is ending? Maybe I'm reading too much into it. If I'm not wrong, it's the voice actors singing too which is great.

The next OVA looks sexy.

finally watched this in italian language (or rewatched after a little more than 20 years), it was the only left i couldn't find in 2021 considering even the final one from 2008 received a fandub. Seriously, if Dynit could release again all of them in DVDs, Bluray or Digital i would be soooo happy.

No matter how much Akane Tendo is a deadly chef, and how funny it was after when Ranma and Genma suddenly packed up to go training as soon as they discovered she was going to cook for multiple days, Ranma deserved that punch. Kasumi always too pure for this world.

Why improvise, though? That notebook exists for a reason other than kickstarting the plot, just stick to it. Otherwise Nabiki will order expensive take away food, and as usual, the dojo has no students so it's still a open question how all of you sustain yourself, especially with those two leeches.

Cabbage and mayonnaise? Call Hijikata, he would be glad to eat with you, Soun and Genma.

Finally, Nodoka returns. It's weird to think that if i already saw this OVA in 2002, i did without a previous exposition to her until the final two episodes of the main series in the summer of 2004. She's precious too for neither noticing nor commenting Akane that mistakes a kitchen for a battlefield and thought to actually make his family eat carrots and wood. Girl Ranma with no experience was already better, not that it was that hard. Hard to believe was how he/she managed to not be discovered when hot water spilled everywhere, and seriously, nobody threw him into the pond meanwhile?

Whatever, Akane at least learned how to boil water and everyone ate fine...except for Genma. Lol.

Okay, this episode is canon, but they skipped 7 chapters it seems. This episode also only adapts 1 chapter of the manga, so it's full of padding.

GOD! That Akane! "ARE YOU GONNA EAT IT OR NOT?!!!" she shouts. Like, shut the fuck up Akane! Everyone knows your cooking is shit! And you also seem to be a rude and loud about it. Hearing Akane shout is not funny! It makes me flinch. They shouldn't have eaten it. No Akane, I'm not going to eat it. Nobody should be forced to eat your shit cooking. Your cooking never improves. Why beat up Ranma for telling the truth? If your cooking sucks then it sucks. Taste your cooking first before serving it! If it doesn't taste good, then don't serve it, and throw it in the trash! Plus, there are times when you hit Ranma when you should be hitting Shampoo instead. Ranma has no interest in Shampoo and even rejected Shampoo when she asked him to go on a date with her. I know it's slapstick comedy, but then shouldn't Akane herself get hit by someone once in a while then for comedy?

Nice to see Ranma's mum again.

Despite Akane never really getting better at cooking even with Nodoka’s help, I found this to be a pretty sweet episode, I especially loved Akane’s dreams of enjoying a picnic in both the past and present, paired with the music those scenes were really serene, I wanted to hop right into the screen and fall asleep under that tree lol. And although she’s a character that has been dead before the show even began, I do love seeing more of Mama Tendo, she seemed really nice, Akane has some sweet memories of her at least.

And it was also nice seeing Nodoka again, it wasn’t really explained why she reappeared but I’m happy to get more of her beyond the final episode of the TV anime, she had some good bits in this one, it’s just a shame she only managed to help Akane learn how to boil water lol.

More about Akane's mother, and also about Kasumi, was good to know more about them. An episode entirely focused on the food, Akane is a very bad chef, really a very bad one, even Ranma is better but he stop being proud of that when his mother mentioned the wife thing hahaha. About his mother, she casually appeared again, seems like since her last apparition she is around the town. Was good to see her again, I love her infinite patience with Akane despite how she ruined everything, she is so nice. For a moment I thought she was going to know the truth about Ranko but luckily she didn't noticed. Good episode and poor Genma, he had to eat all of that hahaha.
Also Soun mentioned about the income again, seems like he is the only one who provides the money to the home but how? We never see him working or something. I know that in an episode they mentioned the dojo was the source of income but I don't believe that, seems like it is going to remain a mystery. Also was funny how he wanted to heal Akane lol.
