I don't usually give them much attention, but with everything that happened in the last week (with you-know-who and his awfully thin skin), I actually got a bit curious and watched the "government-approved" Jon Stewart episode and the intro to the Jimmy Kimmel show yesterday. It was... mildly funny? But clearly not the kind of thing I would watch every day. We do have a political satire TV show where I live, but it's a weekly thing and not live on air. But I guess U.S. politics do give enough content to talk about every single day. Anyway, have you ever watched any of these shows?

I feel like tagging you all again since it was somewhat of a success yesterday… Tell me if you want me to stop!

I like being tagged by you, Fleur-senpai~ Thanks~

I don't want watch them though. I watched a few clips of that type of shows in the past. I'm kinda curious now. It kinda piqued my interest. But I'm not sure if I will like their type of humor.

I have watched a few episodes on youtube, they were pretty funny, but too much based on current events, which I'm not really interested in.
No, this isn't my signature.

No I don't, barely watch regular TV as it is and I'm not entirely sure if we even get these shows without paying for extra stuff/channels etc?
I at least know vaguely the names of some of the comedians, but I find the format of these shows a little odd and probably wouldn't be into them.
I have been following the drama though, and it's just the latest one to come out of the US, no doubt someone else will happen tomorrow or shortly thereafter.
It is quite rich of the US to be constantly bashing my country and it's free speech to then go and do something like that though.

Ye tag me as I don't mind.

And no I don't watch unfunny late-night shits. Can't be bothered as the comedy is meh and my own politics aree too left for the liberal ideas they have. Overall I'm confident in my own political ideas and feelings that most times I'm right about syuff that will happen so I don't keep up with news that much anymore. I have enough on my plate as is without worrying ablut every single idiotic thing a human cheeto comes up with

I'm not going to lock your thread,

Thank you for including me in spite of my tyranny!

As for the topic: not really. I feel like non-Americans get enough U.S. politics fed to us and it's not really what I want to spend leisure time on. There are some funny clips like Zarutaku said, but not something I'd like to watch consistently.

i used to watch Leno and Conan with my father growing up

But as a teen/adult, late night tv for me is anime time
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

No I don't care about the celebrities who usually go to these shows (or most celebrities in general) and the hosts are painfully unfunny.
Jimmy Kimmel is the worst, I don't know how people bellow the age of 70 can handle him.
I have enjoyed a lot of Dick Cavett clips though. Great interviewer and a lot of interesting guests. What other show had Enoch Powell, Orson Welles and Muhammad Ali?

I watch some. I'd say I am a fan of Jon Oliver. Importing British humor seems not so bad of a deal even if it comes at the cost of bad food lol. Kimmel's okay, I uh, guess I will be ignoring the elephant in the room to make things better for our modfolk 😇.

Bill Maher is kinda cool for not being so predictable. With everyone else I feel I'm just gonna get a standard package of safe takes if you will, whereas he might surprise you every now and then.

No. I feel like I'm a generation too late to appreciate those kinds of shows. I've probably seen fun clips of them but that doesn't mean I would want to see the whole thing. At that point I might as well watch Alex Jones where I might actually learn something in between the funny crashout clips

No, I personally don't watch those. I have seen some clips from those shows here and there, but I've never bothered to actually watch full episodes. I think I've seen more videos talking about late-night shows than I have seen clips from late-night shows.

Anyway, don't worry about tagging me. I like your threads.

Occasionally I'll watch clips of some interviews on YouTube. American talk shows are okay but a bit sanitised, I prefer when the host shamelessly gets the guests drunk and share embarrassing stories like Graham Norton.

@Zakatsuki_ Why yes? Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, etc. I myself don't know much about them since I never really watched them before this very week. From what I've seen Jon Stewart seems the funniest of the bunch (and I somehow can't really manage to stand Jimmy Fallon).

I only watch Sofía's one but there's another interviewer that I appreciate, I think she's called Ellen, she's a woman with white and short hair but idk a lot of them, Sofía is the main focus of my watching.

Honestly I don't watch much late night comedy talk shows anymore ever since they started getting way too political for me. I feel like the genre died after Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien. Who were just there to simply make people laugh without taking sides, and we're fairly balanced overall.

Yes and no. I don't really watch those things for enjoyment other than using as a reference point to news sources. Living in East Asia, it's not a huge surprise to notice that these sort of humor usually don't fly well here. It's a very American thing to them.

And American style humor is NOT universal.

Not live, and rarely a full episode, but I've seen quite a few clips from various people, be it interviews, monologues, or skits. Conan O'Brien was my favorite - great host, super funny, especially some of his videos with Jordan Schlansky.

I think you'd enjoy The Colbert Report. Looking back, it's pretty funny that my dad used to praise the show and would show me clips. Colbert's no longer funny now though, of course.
