This imo was Shirna's biggest battle in a long time. He fought with heart, pride, and his own personal agendas on the line.

However, I'm also impressed on how much they showed Leonardo Burns this season. Not a fan but he made a big impression in these latest episodes. Good shit but there's still so much work to be done.

“But it is the young people who carry hope.” David Production thank you so much oh my days this was incredible. I LOVE a pure battle of wills. Two characters who stand proud and tall in their convictions and refuse to back down, fuck, this shit gets me going. Couldn’t have asked for more from Burns v Shinra. Between this and Arthur v Dragon last week. They’ve had us eating so good.

Burns’ backstory before the fight was the perfect way to establish his mental state and why he’s fighting a seemingly contradictory fight. Surely he has to know the church are a scam and using him, but he’s so deep into it he can’t let go. This is all he’s had his entire life, even as a kid he was the most pious and dedicated follower. Joker represents this freedom that Burns has never had and could never follow. He strikes me as someone who’s in denial, even though he knows Joker is right, he can’t possibly let go. It’s all he’s got. That explains why his flames burn so bright, there’s no other life for Burns. No other way, but forward.

A battle of young vs old. Shinra’s commitment to his brother and being a hero vs Burns’ commitment to his faith. Pure chills, the storyboarding, sound design and direction were amazing. Shinra’s blue flames and Burns’ nova voltage ahhhhh the aura 😭 this was amazing. The TWIST??! Burns went out like a legend. Even at the end, he’s praying for Shinra’s success and faithful to his religion. You have to respect that.

MY GOAT BENIMARU IS HERE!! Came in clutch saving the 8th. Can’t fucking wait for next episode. This was a banger and I’m sure next will be as well.

Very well animated action, but still, these never ending powerups and fights can become a bit tedious. I would like somewhat more story in my stories.

Looks like Burns had a particular talent for prayer from a young age. The OST that played during Shinra and Burns fight was just perfect. Nice to see Shinra find his centre. That doppel emerging from Burns though was quite the shock. Iris being the shadow MVP there lol. Nice save in the end from you know who. What a conclusion to that fight and a shift to the next phase of the arc.

Shinra doing Sanji's Party Table Diable Jambe style lol. But he did unlock his blue flames first. Only now I realize how similar their fighting styles are.

This was a dope episode and Beni...eh I Moonlight Mask is finally here.

Well, we finally got the outcome of the battle between Shinra and Burns.
Honestly, didn't really enjoy it that much, because it was just Shinra throwing stronger and stronger attacks to Burns, until eventually on of the attacks struck him. It was giving me Naruto (the final battles) vibe, and I'm not a big fan of that.
So you're telling me Burns just decided to obey God, but was actually expecting Shinra to be able to beat him, so he kinda took it easy on him (he never avoided his attacks).
Hmm, sure, I'll just accept that makes sense and makes Burns less of a bad guy.

Anyways, it seems Burns is dead. It's interesting they changed the ending, to make Burns face the left side, like the other dead characters so far, and Joker started facing the right side, alone.
Also, can we talk how Joker did nothing at this point.
Benimaru appeared at the end, so I'm sure things will become even more chaotic from here on now.

The question is: who is the new pillar? But I'm afraid we already have the answer to that! It seems like the new pillar is actually Iris. It was shown that the one that stopped the attack was Iris, and not Maki, with a "Serene Grace", whatever that is. Also, Haumea said at the end to "kill them all, except for the Pillar", and since Shinra isn't there, we can only assume the new Pilar is among them. So it's either Iris or Arthur. But I doubt they'll give that to Arthur, and the episode heavily hinted that Iris had a big part of containing that attack. Also, the opening gives some attention to Iris and the 1st Pillar, so I suppose this theory might be correct.
If so, it's going to be interesting to see Iris take a bigger role in the plot, not becoming a new Pillar.

Anyways, the action of the episode was really cool, and overall was one of the best episodes of the season so far. The battle wasn't really unique, but the animation made it really enjoyable to watch!

The MVP of this episode is the editing team. I notice that the animation team put their guard down in this episode, but the editing team cover the weak point perfectly by hiding a substandard part with flashy visual and lightspeed cutting back and forth between various scene. The audio team needs to tone down its low-frequency effect a little bit, especially when Burn repeatly punching Shinra, the visual seems like light punches but the sound seems like heavy punches, creating a mismatch in audio-visual aspect.

Moving on to story. I used to say that the God in this anime represents/metaphors nuclear. Nuclear can be used in good ways and bad ways, and so is God. In fact I already forget this interpretation but this episode reminds me of that. As you know, used in good way and nuclear power plant will give you a clean energy, but beware of accident! Used in bad ways = nuclear weapon, simple as that, but it's humanity's first weapon of mass destruction.

Now I want to interprete the story further, I think the goal (which I still don't know) is a metaphor of the attempt to transition to fusion energy, it's much harder, but it's gonna be worth the effort. But in order to reach fusion era, we must fully understand every aspect of (nuclear) fission era, and that's why calamity happen. Creation is impossible without destruction.

But let's forget about all the serious thing and focus on Burn's bare chest. Burn in his younger days was hot, and he's getting hotter as he age! Meanwhile Shinra continue to be the icon of foot fetishism. He must be surprised to know that there are already a lot of people worshipping his feet!

As quality as the animation has been I feel the direction is missing a bit of a punch, maybe they need to add more powerful sound effects and weight to those hits still what happened was hype but how did Maki and the rest even survive that.

Who could be this hero Moonlight Mask...

@Apratim I thought it was only me that felt that the fight choreography was lazy. Glad I'm not the only one. I think the sound effects and the attacks doesn't seem to match which causes that inconsistency in the fight scenes. But the visuals were damn good as usual.

I don't usually write replies in discussion threads but I've had this feeling since this season started. The animation just feels kinda off for me. It doesn't seem to be as "fluid" as the animation that David production gave us for the first and second season. Here is what i mean by that. In the fight against Burns, whenever Shinra and him would clash they would show the beginning of the animation (for instance, Shinra arming his kick) then skip straight to the moment of contact (Shinra's kick landing on Burns blocking arm) and then they don't move for a couple of seconds. The impact of the shock is conveyed through the wavering flames and speed lines. They've repeated this several times during the clash, especially when they were on the roof, enough for me to notice at some points. And this is not the only things i thought was off.

This may not seem like much (in fact, most people would probably not notice or care and that's fine), but it fuels bit by bit this odd feeling i have that this season's animation is not on par with the previous two seasons. At least it's making me scratch my head a little.

Best episode of the season so far, the animation got more and more over the top as the intensity of Shinra's attacks got more and more over the top. There wasn't really much choreography here compared to most fights in a battle shounen, but this slugfest was still an entertaining watch. Just 2 clashing ideals duking it out. A shame what happened to Burns at the end though, his defeat just couldn't come with some peace.

The rest of Company 8 had a close call with Dragon, they should have been vaporized there but Iris unknowingly saved their lives. That suuuuper brief shot of her that hinted that there's more to her than meets the eye was quite literally a "blink and you'll miss it" moment. And now it's time for the arrival of the boy, BENIIIIII. That disguise isn't fooling anyone 💀

Good ep

Hurts my soul to say that the second and last fight of shinra vs burns, somehow wasn't better than the 1st, animation-wise. Execution of the finale with the press of death was understandable since they decided to move it to the end of the fight, but the removal of some stuff (or the altering) stung me in the wrong way.

Definitely narrative-wise, it surpassed it, but I can't believe we waited around 4 years and more, and it wasn't better. I though David Pro would be fine with 2 years of production but no. Anime industry truly is cooked. Trash like yaiba gets all the amazing talent, but not ff.

Gotta assume that those 2 years were for even the last cour in January, if I was them, push dat shii back to 2028. IDC. I know they aren't ready unless these are mid-priority eps in a sense which kinda makes no sense. This ep and the arthur ep should have been HIGH-PRIORITY eps which is obvious, but not the best talent was on either of the eps like s1 and it's animation prowess. But what we may have left to adapt, considering we have adapted maybe around 20 chapters in 6 eps. Next 6 could be 20 or even faster. End point for this cour gotta be 216 or somewhere in 230s based off my calculations. Though, there is one more fight that we can hope onto, but that depends on the pacing.

Adolla with Sho, iris saving the gang, and the sad defeat of Burns who teaches Shinra that there is more to being a hero, will never not be sad especially how the anime and manga narratively presented it.

Last, but not least, the goat Benimaru...... (pretty obvious), I mean Moonlight Mask appears.

REALLY wanted to give it a 10, but some areas hurt my enjoyment. Janky animations and loss of talent to great projects like UU really hurt. Allocation of talent by DP hasn't been the smartest. Final kick by Shinra was like a 9/10.

This ep adapted from ch 192 - 195. Burns long flashback from ch 187 and adapted the other half of ch 191.

It’s not a “never ending power up” if you are referring to Shinra, that was the press of death aka the hysterical strength benimaru was teaching him and Arthur, but if you are referring to burns that is quite litterly his ability, he just gets stronger the longer the fight goes on

There were a few cuts I thought looked kinda off and sound effects at certain parts coulda been better, but overall a banger fight between Shinra and Captain Burns, finally those teased fights with Burns in the previous seasons’ OPs have been satisfied lol. Also nice to see Shinra use his blue flames here, they got a hold of that power at the end of Season 2 and they came into use nearly five years later. And even if I think Burns was pretty dumb in his decision making in this arc (because it looks like he truly was in control of his self this whole time) I respect his dedication after the backstory reveal, and how he went down praying as his doppelgänger killed him, a shame that right after he came to understand Shinra that had to happen, but I also respect the balls of killing such an important character, assuming he actually died here.

And wow, so Iris ended up becoming a pillar huh, it makes sense but it still kinda surprised me because she’s just been the innocent and silly sister for the whole show lol, but they have been building up to that with her having a similar appearance to Amaterasu so it’s cool to finally see that come around. Of course the white-clad wasted no time pulling up after all the fighting was done and their pillar was located, but hell yeah our boy Benimaru is here! The white-clad aren’t ready for this world class beatdown they’re about to get lol, and while Benimaru is wearing a goofy mask too, next one should be epic much like this one.

And lastly, I had a feeling the final destroyer would be a meme lol, Gold was the only one that was worth any time I guess, falls right in line with the past newly introduced white-clad.
