| yea its a pretty cool anime id give it a 8 but a rating of 9.38 is absurd... even attack on titan didnt get this high and its final few seasons were just levels above frieren.. i totally dont get why this is the highest rated show on mal. i personally dont think it has plot as good as aot, death note steins;gate to warrant such a high rating. Only thing its best imo is animation but i didnt find anything other than that memorable. |

| It's because it was done splendidly, production levels are really high, simple yet interesting fantasy story, no harem/ecchi bs, it's pretty relaxing and it's recommendable to basically anyone. |

| Not everyone is supposed enjoy things the same way or on the same level, art is subjective after all. As for the reason, i believe it has a wider appeal, has many genres fit in 1 show so everyone will have something to appreciate in it, very little ammount of fanservice, doesnt do anything "bad", so even some people who usually shit on newer anime and are snobish dont have much negative things to say about it. It does atleast a good job at what it tries to do and many other little things that combine into the overall base of reasons why most people rate it highly. It also came in a relly good time with everyone being fed up with self-insert isekai genre, so it feels refreshing. This post will be removed btw, as there are like 10 of this kind of posts and iirc you cant discuss ratings |

I can list off many things ppl may find enjoyable about it: high production value; fleshed-out characters; simple but compelling plot; good mix of serious, mature content and humor; the implementation of psychological and philosophical concepts; etc. Not everything needs to be some deep, mature, gory fuckfest that triggers all your inherent fears and insecurities and takes itself too seriously. |

| I mean hell why not? Everyone has their own opinions. Personally myself i wasn’t crazy on the show Stark heavily carried it for me. Animation was phenomenal tho |

Lol, SnK S4 was a clusterf*ck. The animation was weaker and it was full of plot holes. Compared to that, Frieren is in a different universe.
There are better shows than Frieren, but you didn't mention a single one.

| Frieren just does everything very well, I think it's as easy as that. I think most people agree that art and animation are great. I think we can also agree that the soundtrack fits the show perfectly. The story is just quite unusual, the big enemy has already been defeated and we see the adventure afterwards. I think that's something that a lot of people find refereshing to watch. The strongest point are the characters though imo. To me Frieren is a very unique female protagonist. She's not emotionless, but stays calm 99% of the time and feels like a real person (funny enough despite being a 1000 year old elf). Most protagonists can get very loud or emotional, so that's a nice change. The other characters are also not overly expressive and scream at every little thing that's happening, people just feel quite real. AoT had strong 3 seasons with a very strong story, one of the best in the medium imo. But the last seasons were quite weak in comparison to that, at least that's how I feel about it. It's way more extreme in characters dying though, which might be what turns some people off. Death Note is kind of a supernatural mystery thriller, which got immensely popular despite being more of a niche genre. Once again probably not for everyone. I haven't watch Steins;Gate, so I can't say anything about it. TL;DR: Frieren does a lot of things right while being an easy watch for anyone. |
