When did you get into anime, and what anime got you into it?
Aside from usual Pokemon/Doraemon childhood memories...... I got into it when I saw "Sakura-sou no pet na Kano" and "Kaichou wa Maid-sama!"
In late 2019
And rest is history......

[Primary School around 1-2nd grade so it is my "childhood memory" cause I got early into anime]
2007-2008 by Bleach in internet. Because of the site where Bleach was I've watched Naruto not dubbed like at TV, which I thought was a Polish Cartoon.

[Last grade of Primary School]
When I finished rewatching Bleach arcs like crazy at the end of 2012 I started by watching some titles in that little illegal site which had a small amount of titles so I went into Sword art Online, Guilty Crown, Psycho-Pass, Code Geass, Fate/Zero and Stay Night, Darker than Black, Btooom, Campione, Chuunibyou and so on till today.

I got into anime during my high school days. I rarely watched TV back then and played only computer games and hung out with school friends. Then one day when I was sick at home, I couldn't play on the system and needed to rest. So I just turned on the TV and saw a channel called Animax. Right then it was playing the first scenes of the first episode of Getbackers. That's what got me into anime. I couldn't remember whether it was before or after Getbackers in the TV timeslot but it also showed Rurouni Kenshin. These 2 were my first introductions to anime.
Best ending line in anime history = "My name is Saiki Kusuo. I am a psychic."

For a while I was watching anime without even knowing it was anime, like opm, mha, hxh and aot. I'd say the first show to actually get me into anime would probably be Fullmetal. That show is so good. Aot got me to read my first manga though.

I know precisely step by step.

I started watching anime in the autumn of 2016. Specifically September of 2016 with the first series I ever watched on purpose with knowing intent, which was in chronological order (from the first episode to the last) and also in Japanese with English subtitles and online. That was Koi Kaze (thus one part of the reason why I choose to honor it today with my forum avatar). Honestly was life-changing. Despite the fact that, as I would discover later, it was still something of an anomaly in the anime universe viewing experience and remains such.

Then, after Koi Kaze, from sometime in September until the end of the year in late December, I watched Usagi Drop, Mushishi, Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin, and Aishiteruze Baby. Those were my first six series.

And my first and fourth watched series are still my #2 and #1 top favorites to this day, even having reached up to 218 series and counting by this point. I'm glad that quite early on I decided to start tracking the order of every series I watched chronologically as it helps me to gain a frame of reference and plot the points in time, (Earth) seasons, life events, etc. which unfolded concurrently to when I was watching a particular show. Well, not that early on in actual time-wise as I didn't do so until 2019, but I had barely watched more than 10 series by that point since even though I started in the last third of 2016, I only watched a small handful of new series during all of 2017 and 2018 and only began watching series closer to a back to back pattern with more frequency in March of 2019. So it was easy to remember.

It was a combination of memories from watching some of the Dragon Ball franchise on TV which led me to watching MHA, and MHA which actually got me into watching anime.

Summer of 2016, was asked by my sister if I wanted to watch Naruto with her, guess what I answered

And because it is the truth, that makes it just.
It’s persuasive, isn’t it? Don’t you want truth like that? 』

Why wouldn't it count? I think Yugioh is as anime as it gets. Just without any fanservice.

it was the same for me.

It was Sailor Moon in 1998, when I was 13. I saw some dubbed episodes on TV, and I liked it a lot, so I went online to find out more about it. I learned about "anime" through this, and I knew I wanted to see more of it. I watched what I could on TV, and I was lucky to have a paper route at the time so I had money to buy and rent anime, since you couldn't really watch or download it online quite yet.

Sailor Moon was also my first manga (1999), the first anime merch I bought (two 50 cent collectible cards on eBay, 1999), and my first subbed anime (2001). Even though I no longer consider it a favorite series, I had fun with it for a few years, and I'm grateful that it introduced me to anime in general.

I watched plenty of anime as a kid without knowing it, but I definitely wasn't "into" anime until Sailor Moon.

When I was 12 (2011), a friend asked my once to go with her to an animecon because her sister couldn't make it. I say yes. I didn't understand anything that was happening there, but it was nice. I ended up accompanying her to 2 more conventions. Eventually, she recomended me something to watch. My firsts were "Death Note" and "Ouran High School Host Club". After her recomendations, I began on my own. Now, I have watched more than 300 hundred anime. Without her, I wouldn't have probably gotten into it.

I got into anime Around 2011, when I was 14 years old. I didn't know what anime mean back then.
I mean, I've watched things like dragon ball or Sailor Moon on tv, But I didin't know that those were "anime".

I remember I was on Youtube when I saw the first episode of Ouran High School Host Club subbed in my native language (we never got a dub for it, unfortunately) among my suggested videos.
Out of curiosity , I Clicked on it and watched the whole episode. It was very first "anime" with subs and the original audio/dub. I Binged the whole series in a couple of days. That was when I got into anime and started to love Tamaki (and Mamoru Miyano's voice lol)

first anime: probably mila superstar when i was in kindergarten cca late 90s

first anime i followed weekly/daily: pokemon, digimon, various "western" anime like peter pan, pinocchio, etc cca early 00s

first anime i followed and was conscious of the term anime: the tv block A+ which started in 2004, and it's somehow only documented on the czech wiki as it later got bought by animax https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animax
most notably slayers, yuyu hakusho, cowboy bebop, blue gender.. i think those were the first anime to ever air here on A+

first anime i watched on pc: yuyu hakusho, cca 2007, i downloaded each episode individually from a shady forum >_>

first anime i watched on pc outside of childhood shows: either cromartie high school or utena in 2011

first seasonal: sakamichi no apollon, spring 2012

first anime i watched legally: n/a :omegalul: (well maybe technically some shorts)

So around new years 17/18 and none.
