I immediately recognized (as many other prbly as well) the Mr&Mrs Smith reference as well as some inspiration from other cult films, which other stories come to your mind?
Edit: I forgot James Bond🤦🏻‍♂️

The professional may not have been the biggest inspiration on SxF but they both share the same unfortunate reputation (the pedo film/show)

I love the retro aesthetic of spy X family. It’s pretty unique but I’ll just go with something that isn’t on your list just because it’s one of my favorites, The Man from U.N.C.L.E

I see a lot of Mathilda in Anya/Ania, both are orphans with some sort of social disorder, that want an adventure and use their secret mission guy stepfather rolemodel to achieve that

I mean most of the spy parody stuff does the retro aesthetic, I have never watch Mr and Mrs Smith, but I have seen the Simpsons parody of it and iirc they are trying to kill each other. I would say that it takes the secret aspect from that since both are working dangerous jobs neither of them know about. it takes a lot from other things but it is its own little thing in the end

I think they have taken from several works like Mr and Mrs Smith but I think James Bond is the most obvious

They took inspiration from a lot of American action spies movies.

Mathilda is one of my favorite movies to the day. I didn’t even think to compare the two

I know what movie you mean XD the telekinetic girl that got adopted by her teacher after yeeting her school principal, one of the best cult films! But I meant in ”Léon-The Proffesional“ Mathilda the girl, whose parents were shot, ended up with an Assassin named Léon and at the end seeked revenge! The movie about her spending time with the deeply introverted, childish (milk loving XD), plant(s) loving, John Wick 1.0 Boogey man assassin that suddenly ends up with that random girl that wants to kiss, marry, kill with him. Some ppl might call that pedophile but then you never spend time with a strongly borderline, trauma shaped young girl in puberty. They are crazy as hell but also just adorable (not cute!), Nathalie Portman played that role PERFECT! No child actor comes as close as she did kn that film!! Huge recommendation!! (Mara wilson or Jaden Smith from Karate Kid are great as well, but they didn’t have to play a mentally broken kid with the desire to marry an Assassin, someone that does the same as the killer of her parents!)

Her style of dress immediatly reminds me of Mr&Mrs Smith. But this is a superficial reaction. I suppose I can see how some people might also think of Leon but this is an even more superficial reaction not supported in the show at all. I have never seen professor layton before so I cannot say about that.

How is this anything like Mr. & Ms. Smith when there was no child in that movie? Shitty surface level discussion about nothing.
