I don't remember Megumi's people to have a thing with introductions lol I just probably forgot but I definitely remember they all have weird sounding names. Anyway it's a good movie though a bit short. I really wish there's gonna be a sequel soon cause I really love konosuba.

From all the antics that happened till this point of the story, I gotta say Megumin feels the most reprehensible out of the cast. The other characters work so well because despite their outlandish/negative personality traits/actions, they get whats coming to them. Theres a straightman to their antics. Megumin has almost none of that. Her slapping around Yunyun gets no punchline. Her theft gets no punchline. Her using people as bait gets no punchline. Her only "just desserts" is that she becomes useless after unleashing "her load", but even that takes a seat in this arc's conclusion which was different from the source material...

Her shtick is also the most unfunny of all the cast. Theres only so much you can do with "I love Explosion" as a joke. Mostly because its always being used in the climax of the story due to it's nature but still. Could be utilized with A LOT more wit. Her little sister does it better.

This was a good movie.

Okay so: Kazuma almost gets raped, twice
Megumin is as useful as a missile launcher that can only be used once a day, and the rest of the time it is dead weight (Kazuma really needs to learn useful spells smh)
Lalatina is as useful as a brick wall
Aqua is the most problematic character I've ever seen
What a perfect team
I don't know how signatures work

Movie featuring the best of what KonoSuba has to offer. Perhaps a bit too heavy on the ecchi side at some points, but since it was Kazuma's "popular phase" and the series doesn't take itself too seriously, it works out without traumatizing the viewer (too much), although the female orcs trying to get with Kazuma was borderline.

On the other end, there were scenes like how Kazuma respected Megumin's dream above turning her into a more versatile mage, and some more good bits, raising the bar. So I will probably rewatch it at some point.

After watching this movie all I can say is that :

"Yes Kazuma, you really did enter your popular phase"

This movie was just the best!!!! I repeat the BEST!!!! The animation especially during the final fight scene was fantastic!!!! And yeah the Comedy was GOLD!!!! As expected of Konosuba. The story was great and really hilarious!!! For real tho, Konosuba never disappoints!!! I loved the whole origin story of Megumin's clan. Kazuma had both the best and probably most traumatizing adventure yet. Also seeing both Vanir and Wiz was great too!!! The Megumin and Kazuma scenes were just the best!!! The people from the village too were pretty funny!! I loved every bit of this movie!!!

I started watching the series about a week ago. At the time I was neither too happy nor too sad. If I had to say, I was really bored and apathetic. Watching Konosuba was one of the best decisions I've made. For the past week or so I've just been grinning and laughing!!!! This was such an awesome series!!! Definitely in my all time favorites(top 10).
I'm gonna have to wait for a while before season 3 comes out. But hey we're getting the Megumin spin-off this spring!!! I can't wait to see that!!! I'm definitely gonna read the Light Novels ASAP!!!
Summing Up :
This was a masterpiece!!!! Story, art and everything else included :
11/10
Gonna miss these guys so much!!! Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin and Darkness, also Wiz and Vanir>>>>>

Welp, after this, I can definitely get behind the Kazuma x Megumine ship. It's honestly the only one that makes sense at this point. Aqua and Darkness are too stuck in their own shtick, and have no real character growth. I remember back in season 1 even feeling that it was nice that we got some introspection from Megumine, and her actually feeling some kind of gratitude towards Kazuma, while I wouldn't have said it was romance at the time, she was still the only one who seemed to genuinely like him. On top of that she is the only one that Kazuma seems to have a genuine friendship with. The other two seem to do nothing but get on his nerves, and cause problems for him and while Megumine can also do that on occasion, he at least goes out and spends time with her, helping her with her explosion magic. I don't see any kind of friendships, or interactions with Aqua or Darkness outside of their comedic shticks with him.

Now I don't expect the show to actually follow through on an official relationship between them, and have them actually get together, but I'm still down for it.

I'm glad I was able to catch this movie near me. By the time it finished, me cheeks were sore from all the laughing I did and I assume the majority of the audience had sore cheeks too. =3

Konosuba might've had a change of hands in terms of production company, but I'm happy to say that the animation quality was great overall. J.C Staff did a wonderful job with the details in the comedy moments and the battle against Sylvia had plenty of sakuga moments that was a joy to watch.

The comedy aspects, for me at least, were even better than the 2 previous T.V shows and those were already extremely hilarious as it is. Not just that, but my favourite character, Megumin, had a lot of screentime and her scenes, from being locked up sleeping in the same futon as Kazuma in her house and the rather touching moment when Kazuma increased her explosion magic level at the end of the film, was amazing.

9/10 and I already want to watch it again! XD

Jealous you got to see this at the cinema! :D

I want to go line by line through it and have some fun explaining to a certain group about how "stop pushing your western nonsensical ideals onto Japanese anime"
Since supposedly liking this series means you hate LGBTQ....
Also, it appears that they don't understand what a Trap is.

You're the one who needs help.

English is obviously your second language so I'll be brief. You've sent the same spiel to the last three people.  What's wrong, buddy?  You've obviously got something that upsets you about Transgender people.  It's okay, this is a safe space.  You don't have to be bitter and self loathing and we're here to support you.

I'm not actually Transgender myself,  I was just rolling my eyes at the scene and it's backlash online.  What I was saying is that this a series where the MC steals panties and feels up his female friends, so it's not really unexpected that the show isn't PC.  It's a satire.

I understand that you may have misunderstood my original comment. And I don't mind being ignored,  I don't go around replying en-mass looking for attention.

But like I said,  you should feel free to be who you really are.  I believe in you.

yea eng is my second lang

i don't have issue with trans ppl in general only with crazy ppl, ppl who made issue from it were the same cult crying on twitter making issues from none issues to get victim points, to get special attention

COMMENT I MADE ABOUT Hogwarts Legacy:
real trans and Jewish community don't care about it, don't believe awry thing written online, if some1 yells they are trans community that doesn't mean they are, cause they are trans doesn't mean they are part of the community or represent them, in past real trans community has spoken up against this wierdos and said they don't represent us, but it was 2late cause they had already taken over real trans community online presence so they yelled transphobe and trans community was ignored cause most alrady believed the twitter freaks as some call them here is video that talks about vivtim culture, its not only trans ppl who are pary of it, portipn of ppl from different backgrounds want to be vivtims

this ppl make issues from none issues and if u don't pend the knee they cancel u, example corporations and stars

i am just calling the crazy ones out on their nonsense that's all

u should educate urself first about this things before coming to defend mental ppl, mental ppl who are trying to ruin entertainment, reason they whined about konosuba on twitter, cause they hoped they can get it canceled

same group harassed and bullied ppl about Hogwarts Legacy, for Dearing to stream it

Vtuber who got bullied/harassed over the game and cause of misunderstanding, many got that treatment just for streaming it
https://earlygame.com/gaming/hogwarts-legacy-content-creator-silvervale-harassed-over-game

this ppl share same view,  basically same group of crazies mentally ill ppl

ur barking on the wrong tree

ppl bitching about here are just 1step away from becoming this cultist freaks, maybe they already are but act more civil here, a lot of ppl are 2faced specially crazy ones

if u see this scene as transphobic ur already mentally ill to a point, or brainwashed by listening to the cult 2much

any defense from this point on will make u only look bad, i suggest u take the L

EDIT:
i did misunderstand u, i read ur post again and ur response also again, but that was easy to misunderstand

but i leave my post as it is so if the real crazies come here they know there is no point to argue with me sins i know the type they are and if they defend their point of this being phobic they expose themselves and make themselves look bad

Re: a whole different regard, Konosuba's always been pretty trashy and vulgar in its regard of human decency since the story's inception. So bearing commentary on the show's portrayal of a lgbtq (??) character and the few (of hundreds) of the show's trivialization of sexual assault *now* as if it were abnormal is rather amusing lol

With this movie, I hope more people realize that Konosuba was never intended as a parody of the genre in the first place — and if it was, it dropped any such pretension by the second season. Self-awareness doesn't necessarily means parody. This is the point where the story definitely breaks with the sheer lunacy of the first ~three novels and assumes a far more standard progression. As far as it is capable of, at least.

Still, that so many people see the franchise as a parody tells a lot about the genre. The only isekai that everyone agrees it's good is the one that doesn't really take itself seriously.
@Satyr_icon do define the differences between parody and being 'self aware' in Konosuba's context if you're willing to set the distinction

@GreatAide Konosuba is pretty self-aware in the sense that it pokes fun on a few aspects of the isekai genre and doesn't take itself too seriously, and even real life itself (like religion) but it doesn't really do that much to set it apart from other works.

Like, how is it different from other isekai?
-The main characters seems useless at first, but they're in fact just specialised and broken like in any other isekai.
-There's a lot of comedy, but JRPGs from where isekai take their inspiration have never been strangers to comedy and goofy moments involving their otherwise stoic and heroic characters.
-The story? Is just another typical isekai, zero to hero, defeat the demon king story, just imitating it doesn't make it a parody since that's a trope and not specific of any work.
-Fanservice? A lot, and while Kazuma doesn't have every female character fawning over him like in other works, he's still constantly surrounded by women. There's even a pretty normal romance arc later in the story.

It's made to not be taken as seriously, but it's still as isekai as isekai goes. And the two books that take place after the movie, which is where I stopped reading at the time, just do more and more to cement that.

I changed my mind a bit since writing that, I can see why people see it as a parody, but I still don't think Konosuba parodic elements are as strong as people make them out to be. It's not as bad as the slime isekai, but it's nothing like One Punch Man. I think Isekai Ojisan did a much better job at being a parody of the isekai genre. I see Konosuba more as a comedy than really a parody.

It's like Monogatari, which claims to be very self-aware about its harem tropes but doesn't really do much to subvert them. A lot of people claim Monogatari can't be a harem because Araragi gets a girlfriend from the get-go, but it doesn't matter because he still flirts with every single female in the show, even his sisters. It's like tht with Konosuba.

i see i see. I'm definitely on the same page with you on that Konosuba is 100% an isekai anime, and one that definitely self-serves itself with isekai anime's most common tropes. It doesn't exactly outline any kind of underlying theme or satirically delivered message, and it's trashily absurd for the sake of being trashily absurd (which as far as I'm concerned makes it entertaining)

I guess I'm wondering if Konosuba should be disqualified from the 'parody' label because it doesn't have a more encompassing deconstructive/subversive approach to its genre. If I go off of a Google-search's definition of the word 'parody', a parody just entails "an imitation of the style of a...genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect". Is Konosuba not enough of a imitation to be considered a parody? Or maybe we can rank all works on a 'parody' spectrum, and some anime (like OPM, as you've said) might be more of a parody of their respective genres than others.

Yeah, that's why I kinda changed my mind about it. I don't really know how to answer that, because the isekai genre as a whole has become so absurd and weird, even before/at the time of Konosuba release, that it's really hard to tell what even can be considered an isekai parody/spoof. Is the smartphone isekai a parody? The fridge one? The Osamu Dazai one? The Putin one? Are pretty much 99% of isekai parodies of themselves now?

Here I am almost a year after watching all of Konosuba before this movie, did not intend for that to happen, I just never got around to it lol. But with the upcoming Season 3, I figured it was the perfect time to finally hit this, and I’m glad I did because this was certainly a banger film, not quite as good as Season 2 comedy wise imo but it’s definitely the peak of both the art and animation, there were lots of scenes where I was just captivated by how good it looks, they did a fantastic job on this. And I actually think watching the Megumin spin-off before this was a good thing, it gave more context to the Crimson Demon village and its residents since we didn’t get a whole lot of that in the movie, and it also helped with understanding some moments that were referenced because at the time there was no spin-off to understand that stuff completely, unless of course you read it lol.

And this certainly was a movie for Megumin, she already had a lot of great moments in the show but this gave us so much more, it’s honestly hard to not say she’s my best girl at this point which I have already said at the end of each season lol, and it also shipped her and Kazuma together harder than ever before, that heart cloud at the end was the cherry on top. So I think it’s safe to say Kazuma will end up with Megumin at some point if he’s to end up with anyone, and it will be nice to see if/when it does. And of course this movie was ripe with comedy, lots of funny moments especially thanks to Kazuma, however I don’t think I laughed very much, mainly just smiling and chucking here and there, and I think this could be because of the movie format since it just keeps throwing jokes at you, where as in the anime you have 20 minute bursts to keep it better paced. I still think the movie was hilarious tho even if I didn’t actually laugh that much.

And I can’t end this review without taking about Sylvia, and since I have seen that clip of her saying she’s got a cock a long time ago when this movie was new I already knew a thing or two about her lol, but that was still a funny and well done scene, I actually can’t believe some people found that insensitive but this is the Internet after all. But besides that bit I found her to be a fun villain with an interesting character arc, the fact Kazuma saw that and used it to his advantage in the end was a great way to have her defeated, however I did hear the whole 2nd half to her boss fight was anime original which surprised me, but damn it was well done for sure including that grotesque transformation. And of course she was absolutely beautiful, a very hot statuesque amazon, the dick does not hurt that for me personally lol, it is a shame she had to die but that is the fate of these demon generals that won’t listen to reason.

But with those beefy ass paragraphs out of the way, I think I’ve said what I wanted to say about this, damn good time of a movie for sure, it has me even more excited for Season 3 now, it’s wild how it took this long for one to come around but I’m glad it’s finally happening even as someone that only got into this series last year. Here’s hoping it’s a good one!

Again yet another thing from Konosuba that I at this point haven’t seen yet and I gotta say it’s a great little movie in between season 1 and 2. Megumin got quite a lot of focus alongside Kazuma, as usual there were tons of laughs considering what anime it was, seriously the vast majority of the time I was just laughing so hard from what was happening onscreen. I feel like they nailed a lot of the things that made the show really good in the first place.

Sylvia was an awesome villain I feel like and Carrie Keranen played her to perfection and was essentially the best part of this whole film, poor Kazuma I really felt for him when he was being tortured by her. And as for the whole “thing” concerning her sex? It’s really not an offensive thing and people need to just chill about it. Didn’t have a problem with Sylvia revealing a certain detail in said scene where she tortures Kazuma and again I have no idea why people are getting up in arms about it. Evidently the Crimson Demons are a bunch of Chuunis apparently. XD

The only thing I’d say was the climax was a little on the long side of things but other than that I really enjoyed watching Legend of the Crimson as a movie to tie me over for season 3. I give this movie an 8/10.

Wait so the Konosuba movie was made by another studio even though it was exactly in the right timeline and it almost looks exactly the same that's actually impressive. Usually if its studio it looks completely different

I do feel aqua got some eh, upgrades tho x) Double sized booba. Yun yun having no friends seems weird tho. Cute, chesty, friendly, smart (well sort of lol) etc

edit: you know you are trash when even the demon general thinks your actions are questionable x) I do feel bad for sylvia tho, the crimson demons were actually the bad guys here lul. She was actually a lot more pure than the demons/kazumas party lol. Cared about her buds/love xd

Came here cause I had to watch the movie due to season 3 being a directly continuation of the Movie, LOL.

.

For a moment there, if Sylvia didn't appear, Megu and Kazuma might actually have ended up having seggs.

.

Yunyun is still cute as ever.

And LOL @ the whole Megu's race... is actually created by another Isekai mad scientist from Earth, LOL

After 2 seasons and a movie I still don't really get the humor behind Konosuba.

I thought I did by the end of the last season mixing quirky characters with outrageous demands but I guess I was wrong. The series is... fine enough with the expressions changes, voluptuous angles, pervy nature of the cast and ironic setups but somehow it really doesn't hit for me, not like other comedy series did. To be fair, I did giggle a couple of times but that's about it. I'm giving it a 6/10 mainly because of the production and the heartwarming ending. In terms of laughs it would be lower but whatever.
