Manga readers love Bakugou and Anime watchers love Deku and Todoroki. I wanted to ask which of these 3 you love the most and which one you hate the most.

I personally love Bakugou, hate Deku and like Todoroki.

It’s obviously Deku for me.
Todoroki comes second and Bakugou last.

Funny how I’m an anime-only too, guess I’m just one of the masses who feel the same.

I love Bakugou more than Deku. I started hating Bakugou like "what an asshole... how could someone like him?" and now it's more like "look at this bastard, I LOVE HIM." I still love both though, in different ways and for different reasons.

Todoroki is my least favorite tbh. Kirishima is the best of all.

I can't imagine hating Deku. He's the closest thing we got to All Might now that All Might is deemed ungood. While it is fun to watch Bakugou and Todoroki get stronger and use new techniques, it is way more fun to watch Deku get stronger. I say this, but I definitely like Kacchan's character a whole lot more than Deku. That being said, Todoroki had a way cooler arc than either of them lol but that was it, just an arc. Todoroki is pretty lame outside of his important arc. His main move is literally just a BIG and LARGE piece of ice and you don't see him doing much more than that unless he gets some sort of special attention in an episode, and his personality isn't fun. If I was gonna rank them it'd be:
-Bakugou
-Deku
-Todoroki

fav character was All Might though, really wished there was more scenes of him just going ham. Amazingly, the movies coming out with All Might stories are supplying just what I need lmao

They’re all pretty awful and it’s tough to say who’s the best or worst, but Deku’s probably the worst just by virtue of being on screen the most and thus shitting up the otherwise mediocre show the most. I guess Todoroki is the best just by not being egregiously unlikable like the other two.

It's katsuki for me. He makes boku no hero academia more fun to watch. Deku is also a good and hardworking character.

Todoroki doesn't count against those two. He is just popular because of his design just like levi from AOT.

Shoto Todoroki without a doubt, he's the only one out of the 3 i would call a complicated young man. He has the benefit of not having a lot of screen time at the same time as being quiet so a lot of him stays mysterious as far as decisions and what he thinks, and whenever we do see him we always get something very layered or deep. He's the only one who has changed drastically and is still changing a lot, the contrast between him and his father is so night and day that anything they would do together interests me, and the other characters don't have anything like that past surface level, even with each other.

Bakugo does have 'complexities' and some character growth, but he's never had that introspective episode like Shoto has so he stays pretty straight forward and doesn't really go past that. Deku is literally an open book, nothing he does thinks or says is surprising, we already know what he's all about and he serves his purpose well for the plot.

I think you can make these kinda threads in the anime/manga discussion page, btw.
But I'm not completely sure, maybe a mod'll help you there.

Cuz yeah, I'm no mod, if it's by me, you can all continue discussing.
Btw, I think my favourite is Todoroki, and I only read the manga, but they all have pretty good character arcs.
Lumillion is the best MHA char tho.

Speaking as someone who loves My Hero Academia, I don't - genuinely do not - understand why people like Todoroki. Beyond his introduction, what's there to say about him? It's a good introduction - but it's good because it develops Deku as much as because it develops Todoroki. Otherwise? His personality is blunt to the point of being bland, his quirk is powerful but (maybe because of that) he's not very interesting with it, and in general he's just kind of... there also.

The other two? As a person, I'd much rather hang out with Deku. As a character? Bakugou is one of the best-written rivals I've ever seen. There's so much more to him than 'shouty explosion boi' and you only have to scratch the surface to see it. He's an absolute dickhole, you won't see any argument from me, but HeroAca wouldn't be the same without him.

Bakugou is a better character than Deku - and I'm saying that as someone who freaking loves Deku as a character, because Horikoshi is one of the few writers I've seen (not just in manga or anime - anywhere) who gets heroism right. Deku is everything I want a main character and a hero to be, and it's no black mark against him that I prefer Bakugou as a character.

Asking two different questions in the title and opening post is always confusing. In this case I like Deku the most and he's also probably the best character out of the 3 from what I've seen, but asking for best and most beloved character is definitely not the same.

I think they're all pretty well written characters although Bakugou could have used some development earlier, but at least season 3 finally delivered on that end. Todoroki has potential but doesn't get that much focus, but from what I've seen I like his slow transition from edgy emo lone wolf to a more team-oriented badass that isn't beyond socializing. Anyone actually calling any of these characters 'bad' doesn't really know what they're talking about and just let their bias cloud their mind tbh. Like their personalities or not, but they all get very well done development and characterization.

So I think in terms of development they are all good characters, except Bakugou had a slightly too long phase of being obnoxious and never really changing until S3. But personally I just love characters who are positive and gutsy and have to actually struggle with their powers and weaknesses but whose heart is always at the right place and who never lose sight of their values and because of that Deku is just too likable for me to prefer any of the others to him.

For some edgy reason anime fans like to hate on likable, sympathetic, friendly, positive characters so I know he gets a lot of random hate but he's not the first of my favorites who gets hate for not being an edgelord so I'm used to it. Ichinose from Gatchaman Crowds comes to mind as another favorite of mine that had a lot of unwarranted toxicity directed at her. With Deku I even had people come to my profile in disbelief, thinking that I'm trolling by having him in my favorites because they can't imagine someone with as much experience as me actually liking him, which I find hilarious.
I probably regret this post by now.

Torodoroki,he is a good character but after season 2 he doesn't get so much screen time.I think both Deku and Bakugou are awful.Deku is the typical main shounen protagonist:annoying,"killing is bad",overpowered, dumb.Bagoku is just a stupid character. The reasons why he hates Deku are absolutely trash. But whatever it is plot device,ok,but why he is also always angry with everybody else?! AND WHY NO ONE HAS ALREADY KICKED HIM?!? SERIOUSLY IF I WERE ONE OF THE CHARACTERS I WOULD HAVE ALREADY GIVE HIM A LOT OF SLAPS I JUST HATE PEOPLE WHO SCREAMS WITHOUT ANY GOOD REASONS.
So in conclusion
Torodoki-Cool
Deku-Boring
Bakugou-"Fulsome"

I think I like Bakugou because he is someone that I wouldn't tolerate at all irl. I hate individualism. I hate screams. I hate conflict. But because Bakugou's behaviour doesn't affect me in real life directly, by observing him in the anime I just find him to be fascinating. I think he is well written, specially the psychology behind his superiority complex, and how fragile it is even though he appears to be the opposite as a defense mechanism for how insecure he feels since Deku obtained his powers and both entered to U.A.

I mean, bakugou is a whinny little bitch who has anger issues and no good character traits to him. All the "development" he's had, are selfish developments that came because of how shitty of a person he is. Idk why ppl like him other than girls thinking he's hot, but as a character? he's shit, even sasuke has more development than him.

Todoroki is cool and probably the deeper character in the anime. However I'm a deku fan, and I love rooting for the underdog and everything he stands for. He might not be the most fleshed out character but you'll always find me cheering for him.

First of all this is at the wrong forums the discussion will have to be moved into the MHA subforum or be deleted.

But here´s some food for thought:
Deku is awful as a Shounen protagonist!

He´s a selfish entitled little crybaby whose struggle is limited to not being special like the other kids and therefore gets rewarded with the best power of all to become the very best like no one ever was.

He´s Naruto 2.0 without any of the tragedy in his life, to enhance the empathy towards him due to compassion

Bakugou is even worse by being an asshole teenager encouraging others to suicide while threatening to kill them with his squad of bullies whose redeemíng quality is him being very talented because his super power is very special. There is nothing decent or complex about him.

He´s a psychopathic version of Sasuke without the traumatic childhood to even attempt and excuse his behaviour.

Todoriki has a decently tragic backstory. Though his motivations are confused since " his mother scared him for life by pouring boiling water onto his face but it´s his father that he hates ", perfect logic! He´s technically the best written out of the 3 by having the most complex issues, but regardless the author simply didnt give enough fucks to flesh him out and explain his backround with his mother. We know nothing about her character and must write his story for him for it to make sense. Half the fandom may claim that she was nurturing and snapped only once others will say that she´s insane. It´s lazy writing 101.

He´s discount Neji, just less Edgy and more bitching.

This series is diet Naruto and Naruto was shit!

Matter of fact the only reason this show is even popular is this:

and this:

All 3 are pretty great characters. I think Deku is the best out of the 3 though. I mean, the kid has a heart of gold. He is the definition of a hero with / without a quirk. It has been great seeing him become more and more confident in himself and his abilities as the anime has gone on. Yeah, maybe he cries a little too much, but you can't help but like the kid..

I like Todoroki 2nd best. He's cool pun intended. I haven't read the manga, so I'm interested to see where they go with him. I'd like to see them explore his relationship with Endeavor a bit more.

I hated Bakugo at first, due to his terrible attitude. After his character development at the end of the 3rd season though, I like him a little better. I feel like it took too long for them to really explain why he was such a prick though (even after doing so, it didn't justify it for me).

1. Bakguo
2. Midoriya
3. Todoroki

I enjoy Bakugo's personality the most. To me he comes off as a problem child that is struggling with his emotions and is confused. I also like how his character is turning out, especially now that he is starting to accept others help and be slightly less prideful. I also really like his quirk and costume design. I am hoping his hero name ends up being "ground zero" like in the concepts.

I was not a fan of Midoriya's personality at the start. He came off incredibly timid and cowardly. But since around the sports festival arc, I have started to like him a bit more. I am not a fan of his starting costumes, but his more recent variants are getting better.

When it comes to Todoroki, I hated him at the start. He came off as too vindictive for me and I haven't really been able to like him for it. Now that he's kinda thrown that aside, he's not bad, just kinda average to me. His quirk on the other hand is pretty amazing and I like the way it was done.

From a critical point of view Deku cannot even compare to Bakugou or Todoroki. And i would question the sanity of anyone who dares to say otherwise.
So i'll turn this into. Todoroki or Bakugou? Which is the superior one when it comes to writing?

Well since Todoroki had a big role in S2 and Bakugou had to share his development with a walking cliche i would have to say Todoroki.
Altough i would think that Todoroki losing while refusing to use firepowers would have been way more interesting and innovative instead of "muh power of friendship or love or whatever looks cooler".

Again Bakugou had like 5 seconds of protagonism in s3 so until he gets some screen time, Todoroki would still rock the best written character (in BNHA and between those 3).

Also just because you dislike the attitude of a character that doesnt make it a bad character.
Now if OP had asked "Which one do you like the most?" then i would shut up about it since the question would be completely subjective (but mr Cordobez humans are always subjective. Yeah shut up).
If it comes to being purely subjective i like Bakugou the most. Altough after his first appearances he has toned down and i fear that his rage turned way too fast into comedic relief (since almost no one takes his tanthrums seriously).
Todoroki is second because he's fine. We barely know the guy but his teen angst and his "Nyeeeh im so powerful buahh" was/is really dumb.
Deku is last because there wasnt a single moment in which he felt any sympathy for him except when he was doing regular training and cleaning a beach on S1.
