I've been having trouble sticking to an anime because I get bored very quickly. I've not completed an anime series in a month! I mostly drop an anime after episode 1. I know most people try at least 3 to 5 episodes, but I just don't have the patience for that sh*t, sadly.

So please suggest me anime that are gripping from the very start and NEVER let you go. Something modern (from this decade) and short (12 - 25 episodes, but I'd prefer 12). I'm fine with any genre.

I've just started Psycho-Pass and the first episode was really engaging. The rest of the episodes were also pretty decent.

-Death Note
-Parasyte don't have a fast start, but after a couple episodes you'll see the greatness of it. The Opening and soundtracks are freaking amazing.
-JoJo is always welcomed to anyone. You must try it, if you haven't yet
-Fate Zero Start great and precceds great. OP/ED are amazing.
-Hunter X hunter is the opposite of it, but every episode became better and better then the previous one
-Baccano!
-Black Lagoon
-Drifters
-FMAB
-Sakamoto Desu ga?
-Shingeki no Kyojin Etc.Etc.Etc

I also recommend Baccano!, that one was really engaging. I binged it in one sitting, so to say. Excluding small breaks.

Almost every show doesn't grip you from the start and never let go, there will be down time at some point. If even 1 episode and you are bored, you've will find some serious issues. Every show needs some down time, and many take more than 1 episode. Getting all grippy and tense first episode can serve as a great hook, but it does get pretty grating after an arc or two so there's going to be downtime.

This isn't a specific recommendation, but do check out anime movies rather than TV series. I've got a feeling that the format of storytelling and the way the plot is structured would fit you more.
If your favourite character is Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko, you are my soul mate.

Been a long time since I've been here, I'll continue expressing myself freely and believe everyone should too.

Probably Denpa Teki na Kanojo. Went in expecting nothing, came out pleasantly surprised when the last episode ended. 2 episodes only.

I personally recommend watching the new Legend Of Galatic Heroes remake. Much better and feels faster pace than older version. THe old version feels like watching some politicians having some long and boring dialogs. I put the old one on-hold cause it was so boring. The new one on other hand is much better, better voice actor and modern visuals make you feel less bored and does not waste time on very long conversations

Damn bro, you know, I want to tell you how terribly wrong you are but that's just me you know? Vice versa, you feel that I'm hella wrong too.

I am enjoying the old version so much that when I tried the new one, I immediately turned it off. Though when I'm finished with the old one I might try the new version.

I liked the older VAs, the art is a lot more unique with a lot of details and the "boring politicians" added a lot to the show. I admit that animation is a lot better and the ships look smooth af tho.

It's slower, so if you don't like slow shows you won't enjoy it as much. But the older show has a lot more than the new one in almost every aspect.

it depends from your favorite genre.

If you don’t mind something zany, Space Patrol Luluco genuinely fits, and since it’s a series of shorts you could easily watch it in a couple hours.

The last one has been criticized for starting off slow, but many people including myself were invested ever since episode 1. It depends on what you enjoy. As already stated in previous comments, maybe watching a few anime movies instead could help you get back into the game.

any fast paced anime that particularly doesn't heavily rely on world buildup and character development
some of which I would think of are: one punch man, hellsing ultimate, drifters, inuyashiki, black lagoon, devil man

That's a particularly hard order, not many series truly grips you on the first episode. Just one episode isn't enough for that, not even many great series are capable of doing that. Plus, some awful series actually have gripping first episodes. Erased had an amazing first episode that hooked us all in, only to find out halfway through it was absolute shit.

You might have to just bite the bullet and give these series more of a chance, OP. You aren't going to be completely engaged just on the first episode alone to make you capable of completely focusing on the entire season. Just find a series that's widely liked that you're interested in, and do nothing but watch it without looking at your phone, or anything else distracting. It's a lot harder to become engaged in the series if you don't at least try, so try. Not having an engaging first episode is making you skip WAY too many great anime

Most battle/ action shounen are. They are usually straight forward and it's easy to get captivated.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron
