| It definitely has it's moments depending on each arc, but overal l didn't think it was that scary. It's more of a mystery/thriller. |

| I wouldn't say Higurashi is that scary, but to each their own. There's definitely some scenes that make you squeamish or cringe though, the infamous nail scene being one of them. |

| Honestly, if you ever ask yourself the question : ''Am I the only one who.... ?'' the answer will always be no. But I didn't watch the anime yet but I'm currently playing (or reading I guess) the visual novels and I get creeped out often. |

| What's scary for some, isn't scary for others. For example, when Dead Space was released, everyone said how scary the game is. I was bored out of my mind while playing it. The same applies to Higurashi. It has disturbing scenes, but it isn't scary in the slightest. |

| Higurashi was the first, and only anime that made me pretty scared. Psychological horror is simply well done, and more effective than bloody/body horror. |

| It was scary for me the first time because I never expected something so dark from an anime with loli moe characters. It’s the first psychological thriller I’ve ever watched, not even in films or movies. Definitely left an impression on me, including School Days. |
| I find Higurashi (and most other horror anime) more campy than scary. Still entertaining for it's story and craziness, but I find the way it and a lot of other show execute (heh) it's horror elements very lackluster, like either they're trying not to scare their audience too much in fear that they'll stop watching, or the makers just don't know how to do horror properly. You watch a good Horror movie or read a good horror manga that are done by people who know the genre, and you'll find that a lot of anime's attempt at horror to be almost laughable. Case in point, read the Higurashi manga and compare it to the anime. |

| Though I wouldn't say that it scared me shitless but the creepiness was there. I enjoyed how all the characters were batshit crazy it made Higurashi more entertaining and as for the nail scene well yeah that was disturbing and cringy. |
