5 Centimeters per second. That's pretty much the only anime movie I've really liked.

Too bad it's an OVA not a movie.

As for me, The Wings of Honneamise takes the cake, or maybe Patlabor 2 does, I don't know.

Other stuff that comes close would be Nausicaa and Mimi wo Sumaseba (and most other Miyazaki/Ghibli stuff), End of Evangelion, Wings of Honneamise, Macross Do You Remember Love, Ideon Be Invoked, Mind Game, Patlabor 2 and Urusei Yatsura 2 Beautiful Dreamer, Tokyo Godfathers (and everything else by Kon), Akira, GitS and Innocence.

All movie I seen are sucky(now that I think about it), when I was Anime newb, every movie was worthed. Anyway only decent movie was FF7:AC, but it sound like the new movie of One Piece movie 10(DIRECTED BY THE MANGAKA) could replace FF7 for me XD

Whisper of the Heart.
Theres an artsy picture house here that was running a ghibli segment years ago. I missed Totoro which was the first they were showing, and Whisper of the Heart was the second on the itinerary, and the first one I got to watch. I just... I loved it.
The story, the sound, the animation... everything.
I was really happy when they finally released it on dvd in 2006 so I could buy it and watch it again as many times as I wanted ^^

One Piece: Omatsuri Danshaku to Himitsu no Shima - unlike most movies based on anime series, it does a pretty good job replicating the strong points of the original - not just the action, or the humor and fun, but the more serious and dramatic elements as well. And seeing as One Piece is my favorite anime, it's pretty much a shoe-in.

Paprika, Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are all pretty high on the list too.

The End of Evangelion: It left me literally speechless, it was heartwrenching, moving, disgustingly brutal, extreme in every single way. The visuals were simply breath taking, too.
Spirited Away: Dreamy, original and very cute. Ghibli at its most charming.
The Adolescence of Utena: Utena on LSD. It takes everything that was so strange in the series and warps it some.
Paprika: Ah, Satoshi Kon...mind tripping gallore. Never has the world of dreams been so disturbing and better depicted.
Akira: A beautiful nightmare with some very twisted moments and visuals that are stunning if haunting.

Paprika was one of the best ones i've watched, it really hits hard on the brain. XD

Another good one which is currently at the top of my list is Appleseed: Ex Machina Bought it a few days back, then returned it to get a version that didnt have crap on the disk. Amazing animation, looks a lot more real then the first one. If you watch it watch the english then the japanese you will get a kick outta it. Since its CG its almost imposible to use the entire original script, they did a good job in making it work lol.
