I'm not surprised at how the girls reacted to the revelation. The idea of even becoming a Scooper in this series sounds creepy.

Probably the most serious episode yet in this show so far.
Mari takes this the hardest given by how she reacted. Felt like they added a lot of psychology into this episode rather than the usual straightforward action.

This was quite the dark episode. Ever since the girls found out they're going to become Scoopers, they started to get very crazy. The scene of Mari and Kotoko eating the Scoopers was creepy. There were some references like the Crunchyroll Expo and Ariana Grande.

Humans are like the scoopers all along, stealing and copying stuff.
Eating the scoopers made them change and they have confidence issues again.

Misa was suspicious, but I didn't expect her to be a Scooper herself.

That it got serious was to be expected, but I didn't expect the girls to turn into Scoopers. The last scene was damn creepy.

Hmmm, tension is high now that they ain't fully human, made it a pretty feelsy and deep episode, got to see a pretty dark side of the girls losing themselves a bit, especially Mari. Really enjoyed this episode. Moral of the story, if the aliens you fight turn into food once defeated, don't eat it. No matter how good it looks.

Also what the heck, never thought I'd hear Ariana Grande's name in an anime...

Starting to think of this as an anti-sweets anime. Perhaps they'll release Urahara-branded toothpaste.

So far there were a couple of hints that Mari has the hots for Sayumin, and I keep wondering why Rito is the only one developing a relationship with her.

WOW! This is the most despair episode!
All three girls are in extreme depression because they doubt themselves!
And looks like I was right! Something is really fishy with Misa-chan!
Mari & Kotoko has already lost it, but we still have Rito! oh noes what's happening to her is really troublesome! Hope she doesn't lose hope!
5/5.

glad i stuck around with this one i felt with the overbearingly strong choice of cute and bright colors at some point there needed to be that "moment" ,most of the girls have given into despair

have to say on a side note the scores in this show are pretty good

Actually great direction and visuals for this episode, unique themes being addressed like inspiration vs plagiarism and modern anxieties with social media.

Though not completely unexpected to see the series go in a Madoka Magica direction, it's a welcome change and seems to be going about in a unique fashion without drawing too much. Visual style of the episode reflects the Madoka style and even has the faceless silhouette background characters popularized in Shaft productions, but is fine by me.

Considering Urahara's weaknesses in writing I thought this would be stronger in the tone of the OP, crazy and upbeat, shouldn't go serious for its sake

But this actually worked very well, some shots and scenes were very interesting and was the first episode which felt like it deserved the 20 minutes

well this episode was very different. But for me the show needed this kind of change because it was getting a bit repetitive.

Looks like the dark, "Madoka Magica" style twist every magical girl show has finally came along. I predicted that Misa and Ebifuruya were Scoopers themselves, but I didn't expect the girls to be transforming into Scoopers as well. Guess this we can all learn an important lesson from this: don't eat food you find on the floor.

In all seriousness, I liked this episode. We're getting a bit more conflict and character development. It may be a bit standard for magical girl shows to have a dark twist in the second half, but it's a formula that works and this show is definitely bringing its own style to the concept.

Oh God... I was half-expecting a dark twist but I hope it doesn't stay this way. I mean it's well done and enjoyable in its own way but I really wish the girls can make it out of this darkness.

Wow. Things got really dark. Strong Madoka vibes at the moment.

Maybe we are not any different from the Scoopers. We basically do the same things as they do.
