The only name in anime I've found vaguely attractive enough to put on a "Potential Kid's Name List" would be Alielle from El Hazard. The vowel/consonant ratio there is very high, which I like. However, considering the nature of that particular character, there's no way I'd ever use it.

I was planning it... or at least some cool japanese name... Akira! X3

My sis named her child after a videogame character, Kilik from SoulCalibur.

So far I haven't found any anime names that I'd use, although both me and my gf agree that Zalera from FFXII would be a nice name for a girl =x.

Depends.^^
I have intention to live in Japan, so i would sound normal.
On the other side, if I live in my other favourite place-Strasbourg, there won'y be any problem to call my son Haine^^
But I would never cause such a thing to my children if I stay here in Bulgaria. I mean, Miharu Ivanov for example souns really dummy^^' And the name I would never give to child of my s Kon-it's the Bulgarian word for 'horse'^^'

Would I name my child after an anime character? Simply put, no.

However, I would name a pet after an anime character. But for someone going through their life being named after an anime character.. I wouldn't do that to my child. Imo that's just setting them up for a fall.

My brother & his wife named their daughter "Aeris."

I haven't asked if it was FF inspired or not, but they were fans of the game.

It might be interesting to name your kid something from anime. I'd be down for it, i would just hope the kid never finds that anime or s/he might get a little upset. Besides, that one chick named her kid "audio science" so its not like anime names are THAT weird.

There are a few nice japanese names, at least for girls... but given my scottish heritage, i can't see myself naming any of my children using them, the combination of japanese first name and scottish surname would just be weird...

Not really
Since my last name is Zinn, most Japanese names would sound fine with it. But I'm not Japanese, and nether would my children. Karin seems like a nice name though. It's a popular in Japan, although it's actually Swedish.

That Would Depend On The Name. Some Japanese Names Are Okay, But Are Not Common In England. I Do Liike Unusal && Unique Names, But Even I Have My Limits, For Instance I Wouldn't Liike To Call My Child Somethiing Like Inuyasha Or Kagome For Obvious Reasons.

I Like Kirimi (OHSCH) && Ayame (Fruits Basket), But Using Those Names Where I'm From Wouldn't Sound Normal.. So Probably Not.

I wouldn't name my kid after an anime character. However, I might choose an anime-ish or asian-sounding middle name for my kid - I've considered the middle name "ame", which means "rain" (or "candy"! ^^) and I'm sure I could find others that I like...but the whole middle name thing is likely if it's a girl than a boy, though.

I would. but then again, it would be a rather normal anime name and it wouldn't be entirely anime inspired so I don't even know if it counts.

I want to name my daughter to be Haruka (or Haruko) or Ringo. I'm tempted to add Yoko to this list as well.

As for a boy... well. probably not.

I was discussing kids names with the ex a while back. For a boy I'm set on the name 'Link' (as in the hero from the Zelda series) and whilst talking about girls names I threw in a couple of names based on popular anime characters, mostly as a joke. Like Rei, Kaoru, Ai and Rakka. She didn't mind Rei (after I told her the spelling) but hated the rest, as expected.

Never something COMPLETELY JAPANESE, unless my husband happens to be Japanese.

I've always loved the name Ren, though; lots of (HOT) anime characters just to happen to have it.

Sure....
Every one of my kids (if I have more than one) is gonna have an anime middle name. I've even thought of the sequence:
Girls: 1)Ai (after Ai Enma from Jigoku Shoujo), 2)Yanagi (after Princess Yanagi from Flame of Recca), 3)Hotaru (after Hotaru from Gakuen Alice, 4)Rin (after Rin Tohsaka from Fate/Stay Night and 5)Motoko (after Maj. Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell).

Boys: 1)Ren (after Ichimoku Ren from Jigoku Shoujo) and 2)Ichigo (after Ichigo from Bleach).

If it's a common Japanese name then yes, there are a few that I think don't sound too silly. If I had a girl I'd love to call her Sakura, it's a pretty name and I've heard some stranger names in english.

But seeing as I have every intention of moving to Japan I could get away with it ;]

Maybe, just maaayyyybeeeee, but even then it would be a romanisation of a name, or something that sounds similar. Never revealing to them the origin of their names, of course. Strangely I can only think in daughters concerning this topic.

i think that it depends on so many things... on where did you come from... on whether you're going to keep loving anime so much when you're ready to bring a child (+30 maybe).... on the names that your partner for life would want... and so many other things.
anyway, i don't think i would do that 'cause it's not realistic ^^

Well.. it would have been okay if I lived in Japan or if I get a japanese hudband, then I would like to name a girl Mizusu, 'cause i think it's such a cute name.
But else.. no way.. I'm going to give my child a normal, stereotypical name. Yes, I'm boring..

If I had a Japanese last name then maybe, but no It would be strange to have them named like Chiyo -insert random american name-.
Unless it was something like Edward then no one would ever know >:3

Depends. But I'll not name a child after an obvious japanese name.

I would prefer naming them after the name of my sketch models rather than anime.

I don't plan on giving any future son or daughter a Japanese name, seeing as most series are based on Japanese people.

Maybe if I really liked a character who had a Western name, but otherwise, no.
