I noticed that not only the first ep not only discuss the storyline of the anime, but it also bring you the motivation to continue watching it.

Then according to you, what is the best anime first ep you have seen?

For me, it is definitely Ga Rei Zero = )
Reason? It was a really strong ep with intense music during the fighting parts. Also it creates a mystery on the first ep which makes you want to watch more to find the answer.

I agree. Good first episode as well. The problem is that the anime never becomes as fantastic as it's first episode was inquiring in this particular case. Anyway, it was good.

Glad someone likes it as well XD

If an anime's every episode is just as good as the first spisode, then wouldn't that will automatically be a high ranked anime? I mean, it is also really hard for staffs to keep up the freshness of that certain anime.

I actually think that Bebop's first episode was one of the weaker ones.

I thought Samurai Champloo's first episode was mind-blowing, though.

Also Texhnolyze, but only if you're into that sort of artsy thing.

Elfen Lied and Shikabane Hime are two stand out choices for me.

Most of the anime I like didnt find its groove til the second episode though, Higurashi, Umineko etc all fall under that category.

Best first episodes go to Shigofumi, RahXephon, and Chaos;Head.

For best first episode, without taking into account anything else, Windy Tales wins by a big margin.

A "gorefest" with a naked girl, face hidden, walking and killing people in some horrifying but, at the same time, somehow artistic ways and, on the background, you can listen to a beautiful melody playing. What's this anime about? What will happen next? Who is this girl? That's what make it great, not only this... "gorefest" as you denominate it. Learn to see further than the obvious.

That hitted the spot. Excellent first episode for an excellent anime all the way to it's end. Nice!

I forgot to mention Kurozuka's 1st episode, continuing with the "gorefest" theme lol!

Oh, and last but not least: Ergo Proxy's : ) One of my personal favorites.

There's nothing behind the obvious, it builds mystery in a gorefest episode. It could've been done in a different way, It was throwing fanservice at our faces and that's the best way to make people stick with it. It was a good start, but extreme, it tryed too much to be artistic, bu a naked girl on rampage in a facility isn't anything original nor artistic. I liked the music.

The one "out of order".

Honestly, I thought that episode alone is one of the best of the history of anime, and there really isn't a better way to start that series.

Elfen Lied, pornographic? wut?
It was impressive first episode in a way, but the amount of gore was just ridiculous. I actually laughed a little at how everyone spills 150 liters of blood around to roof and walls when they lose their heads.

Anyhow, i gotta agree with ladyxzeus, haruhi 1st ep was quite epic (and retarded) But i still dislike the series and about everything in it.

Also, Shigofumi. The first two or three episodes made me watch the whole series, later episodes weren't that impressive IMHO but the beginning was awesome indeed.

In nature, it clearly isn't actually pornographic, it just exudes that vibe. Folks need to learn some dat reading comprehension.
Pretty much single-minded aren't we? "Comprehend" that it wasn't meant for you to keep your whole attention on just the girl, there were other factors to be "comprehended" = no porno, no vibe, etc. If the "porno vibe" affected you, then you seriously got nothing out of it. Just the satisfaction of seeing another naked girl for the first time out of the real life. Good for you *clap, clap*.
