| Watch the JoJo openings then watch the series and go back to the openings again. They subtlety spoiled the whole series in them but you'll only really understand it until after you've watched the series. Similarly some of the Monogatari openings start having more meaning after you've watched the series. They not only foreshadow stuff that happens in their arcs but also in the upcoming ones. |

| I like it when the OP song suits the theme of the anime like Brave Shine for Fate/stay Night : UBW S2 ( Bitter Sweet feeling). But Im not sure what to feel adding scenes that wont be shown in the anime (like Lancer vs Caster fight scene and Illya's happy moment with Berserker) For me I agree on with the poster above Seraph of the End has some BS OP that spoiled one of the biggest revelation on its OP. Like whats the fucking point of episode 1 if we know whats going to happen to the guy. |

Its not complete without the word "sekai" 3. oh and there should also be an over the top song to promote the band/singer 4. | I think this discussion went from "What does make a good OP/ED" to "What do you like to have in an OP/ED". A good OP/ED complements the anime series. If you just want good music then just listen to some Japanese radio. |

| the opening should shows the main characters, as well as the overall feel of the anime. it does NOT contain spoilers (i'm looking at you, Log Horizon season 2) it may contain characters that are introduced later, but their role must not be obvious the animation should be smooth the soundtrack should match the series, or at least the current episode. the lyrics should be well thought-out and not generic (difficult) and most importantly, it should make a newcomer (someone who's new to the series) become at least somewhat interested in the series. |

| I think great ones rely more on artistic concept rather than visual/musical assault. Today, I tend to prefer Op/Eds that capture the essence of their shows with a simplicity that's almost counter-intuitive, yet still works. |
