How the fuck is it rare? I've seen people weeping for a character that was on screen for 5 goddamn minutes.
Calm down. You should get off the internet for a while.

I am calm. Pointing out how obviously wrong someone is doesn't make me unhinged or something.

Since when did crying to fiction mean you have a good heart?
Good sense of empathy to fictional characters' or real people's situation is a positive trait, a figurative characteristic of a good-hearted person.

Having a sense of empathy doesn't make a person good-hearted and not having one doesn't make one not heartless either.

Feeling sad is ok, but crying? I've never cried to anime because I know it's freaking not real. It's ok if you cry once or twice but not alot.

Without empathy you're literally the definition of a psychopath. Empathy: Empathy is the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing from within the other person's frame of reference, i.e., the capacity to place oneself in another's shoes. Without empathy, you get things like 'fat people are just lazy shitbags'.

Still, you can easily not have empathy for fictional characters, but care for real people and vice versa. I know two big assholes that went all emotional over Anohana.

Of course, that could be true, however, can you objectively say that you truly know the hearts of those 'two assholes'? It isn't surprising that they might more easily empathize with pure anime characters because they are generally more pure and innocent than real humans which all are more complex and have more faults. Being able to cry for someone, 2D or 3D is a good sign.

Twisting my words is something I deeply dislike, so I'd like it if you didn't do that and yes, most fat people are lazy shitbags. Does that make them any less of a person? Of course not. That just means that they're lazy shitbags.

It's not dumb to cry for anime characters.

The first time I cried while watching an anime was when I watched 'The Grave of the Fireflies'. I was 10 years old and I don't regret it.

I had another mental breakdown while watching 07 Ghost when Teito sees the reborn Mikage for the first time (I cried a river). But that's another story.

Oh, and the last Hybrid Child OVA killed me.

And yes, I'm a male in my twenties ;D

I do it too and there is nothing wrong with it. It doesn't really matter that they are only fictional characters because if the anime is done well and you like a character you'll get emotionally invested in the them and the good and bad that happens to them will be emotionally provoking. if we couldn't get invested in fictional characters at all we wouldn't be able to enjoy anime nearly as much in the first place and getting invested in them means feeling bad if they die. its why works of fiction are entertaining.

I find it easier to get emotional with anime characters than human actors. Anime's use of tone, music, shading and the fact that they do a lot of inner monologues helps you connect to the character.

Plus, anime isn't Baseball...so cry as much as you want.

Yeah. If your favorite anime character of all time dies 2/3 in the series, it's perfectly fine to bawl your eyes out and lock yourself in your room for two days, rejecting all contact from the outside world because they don't understand.
Not that that's a specific example or anything.

Yes. Crying for anime characters is perfectly fine and normal.
