I'm curious why there is a raging hate on JC staff. They made great shows like H&C, Azumanga Daioh and Nodame Cantabile so I don't understand why there is so much hate given on this studio.

They can be pretty hit or miss at times, but otherwise I think they're a solid studio same as any other that has its share of ups and downs. People probably just can't handle all of that tsundere lovin'.

It's very simple, they constantly pick up things that require a strong romance ascpect or serious drama aspect, yet JC always eithers waters such downs or downright runs away from such.

JC seems to be deathly afraid of making any scene, into a serious scene(rather it be a great romance scene or a heartwarming/very sad drama scene, they just wont do it). If they can find a way to avoid any kind of serious scene they are suppose to be making, you can bet every dollar in the bank, that they will avoid such.

Let me guess, Sakurosou? It's definitely the best anime they made so far, no doubt(It's actually almost IG quality, It's that good), but should've/could of been basically perfect. JC decided to completely run away from the romance aspect(better then ruining a scene with fanservice I suppose, but still, It's a big blow to the series(a seriers that should've been atleast a low end great, ended up being a medium/average very good)

No o.o Witchcraft Works the art was done beautifully and they adapted the manga perfectly page by page. It is perfection (in my eyes)

They are a big studio that has produced a ton of stuff over the years, some good some bad. I think they are pretty mid tier as far as studios goes; I know I would rather have them working on a series than DEEN/ARMS/Production IMS. But there are plenty of studios I rate much higher than JC Staff.

Dungeon ni for example is off to a decent start but I can't help but feel JC Staff will screw it up badly sooner or latter. Especially when it's hinted they will cover up to vol 5.

I actually like them quite a bit. A fair few of their series that I've seen, I've liked. At 14 anime watched, they have the highest weighted mean from my list and highest mean overall, from studios that I have watched more than 10 series.

I love J.C. Staff... They made Witchcraft Works and with the exception of 2 rather unimportant scenes, it was a completely faithful adaptation. And they're also making Is It to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? which I totally loved the 1st ep.

12 + 1 OVA. Umm genres: magic, witches, a bit of fantasy, action, romance, and despite the almost entire lack of warlocks, NOT a harem. It's amazing. Watch it.

Toradora, Aoi Hana, Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile, Railgun... Where's the hate? lol

Of course, there's Sakurasou, Golden Time, Zero no Tsukaima and Shakugan no Shana, and they're definitely terrible. But still, Toradora, Aoi Hana, Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile... They're just too good, and sometimes too bad (the studio). Either way I see more love than hate.

I haven't had the opportunity to decide whether I like them or not, because they so rarely make anime with concepts or in genres I'm remotely interested in. Edit: Wow OK, both Toradora and Sakurasou, I guess that's two of their rare gems. And Honey and Clover I guess, which I've been putting off for a long time.

Madhouse is hated by those who claimed they went the "moe route" with NGNL and Ufotable is hated by those who think priests are the LCD of the universe.

Sigh that would be yet another reason people hate them, and why I haven't watched that. Everything is god damn 12 episodes with them, we're lucky if we can get even a 24 ep series out of them, and even that's like pulling teeth(because even when they make a longer anime then 12 episodes, they still don't have a real season, they'll make it so each season is only 12 episodes long, instead of the norm of 24/26 ep a season).

That's at least 30+ anime that has more than 12-13 eps. That's not counting the ones that are 12-13, but have sequels.

Based on what you say this? 1 cour per season is a lot more common in general, than 2cours.

There are a lot of things that J.C. Staff has done that I want to watch. I can't say that I've spotted hate for it though. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. As of now though, the only thing I've seen from them is Babel II. A shitty OVA from the 90's. And almost every studio has had one of those. So I can't say I hate them.

Yea I know they do make some, some of these I have seen, but I'll probally get around to checking out others at some point(when I am bored, and have no plans to watch something else atm).

I was especially disappointed with Shakugan no Shana, it should of been much better(completed the first season, which was just ok, and what I have seen of the 2nd season was meh). Supposedly it gets better in season 3, but meh.

JC is real good at wasting opportunities sigh(IG makes the 1st, and still only medium sized series they ever made, and boy do they hit it out of the park. JC makes longer anime then IGs norm, far more often, yet they tend to be just ok or should've been way better.

JC wants so much to be like IG(lol IG shouldn't even be acting like IG, they're way too good to be releasing super short anime, their skill, knowledge, and resources are being wasted, but that's for another topic), but they just don't have the skills required for such. Their bigger anime tend to be better anime, but JC lacks the resources, and knowledge to do such properly sigh.

It's almost a no win situation with them. This Isn't to say their anime aren't worth a watch/they can't release a good anime, but you need to keep your expectations pretty low, when it comes to JC.
