That was really a nice episode.
I hope it will not disappoint me like Frontier and Zero did.

I loved the animated.
Music was decent.

Im scared of the robot singer.
It just....sets off warning bells of 'fail.'

Guile is an asshole.

The music is epic. I am very, very excited to see Sharon Apple in action - an AI pop idol? I'm sold.

Looking back on the animation/character design, boy, they liked to make the noses and chins pointy, didn't they? The mecha and planes look great, though.

I think the Guld/Isamu rivalry has potential... Were they both after Myung, or was she always Guld's girl? Hmm...! Better watch the rest. :3

Wow, I can tell that there are some intense stuff going on between Myung, Guld and Isamu and I can't wait for it to be revealed. Anyway, they managed to make me think Isamu is a total asshole and the source of the problems in the past, though it's probably something deeper and more to that.
Voices is just beautiful, I love that song~

Damn I'm in love with this series. The animation is superb and I just read that this was one of the first series to pioneer using 3D-animation alongside the usual 2D. Well so far I haven't seen any really obvious 3D parts, everything has blended in really nice. Oh, and the music is awesome and really gives a feeling of what AI music in the future could sound like.

The character designs are a bit weird as in, say, Escaflowne but it too gives a fresh face to this series.

Well good start in my opinion, pointing to Isamu being the source of the problem between the 3 of them. Although Guld seems like a complete douchebag.

The first three minutes of this was enough to convince me that this is going to be a hell of a lot of fun. Sharon Apple and the fanfare around "her" is a little creepy to me, but I can live with it and the 90's style overacting.

Well this isn't exactly sequel to original Macross, all it has in common is same universe.
I kinda hoped for something known from 1 series but shown 30 years later how it changed or what it caused, also children of original characters or something. absence of that kinda disappointed me.

As stand alone mecha OVA, this looks very good and gives lot premises. I want to watch another episode right away which is good sign.
I feel 90' from it, which makes me feel nostalgic haha
Also I like the animation, that one surprised me considering airing date.
( Currently interested in OP MC genre. Recommendations are welcomed, preferable those yet not on my list )

So far so good. Character have potential to grow deeper with emotions. Their traits are not bad, hope it will get better.

First impression: This is a lot more serious-minded than SDF and thus far I don't care for the characters. Hopefully things will liven up once the idol comes into the picture.

Well animated and contains some decent action though.

A great start with classic figures (that will certainly help the characterization, given the 2h30 duration), hinting at some tragic past (or possibly ridiculous misunderstanding), with exciting fast aerobatic plane sequences. The environment is what looks the best so far, but the other drawings and animations are excellent (despite the extremely 90s style, jarring after the previous Macross works).
The only thing I could do without is the quantity of computer screens. But it's so 90s, back then they loved that so much.

Looks like some people gave Roy Focker's name to a planes competition.

5/5 Let's hope it doesn't fall into the super cool spectacle with no substance. No space Top Gun please.

A virtual idol, huh. They predicted the future very well. Can't wait to hear the famous Ievan Polkka song in action soon.

Isamu Dyson: proof being confident and witty doesn't necessarily make one likable.

The animation is top tier, like almost Akira level. The setting and the world is interesting, just the story between the main characters is lacking, probably because they all seem unlikable. I saw the movie version long ago, but I don't remember any of it.

Roy Focker prizes mentioned in Isamu's personal profile, nice.

An homage to Kaneda's bike!

Guld is played by Unshou Ishizuka, the seiyuu behing Jet from Cowboy Bebop. I also noticed that the rest of the main cast + Sharon had roles in Victory Gundam. Hardly means anything but there's that.

The episode felt very Gundam-ish...as if I was watching Gundam 0083, but with VFs and YFs instead of mobile suits. Ah, and I certainly felt the psycommu vibe from the brainwave control system.

The characters felt so...American? Well, I guess it's not surprising given Watanabe's involvement. Guld looks like a micloned Zentradi.

Animation-wise everything was great, of course. Especially the Itano Circus. Hideaki Anno had a nice cut:

The jump between Plus and OG Macross is massive, now the universe feels Star Wars-y.

Liked it so far, aerial dogfights is hell lot of fun to watch.

That was OUTSTANDING!

I love every single thing about this. The story and characters are great. The animatiion is frankly mindblowing, like this is film level quality of animation. The highway sequence especially was incredible, I was swooning at the reflection of them against the truck. I wonder if Anno worked on that?

I love the character designs, they're fantastic. The style of the world of Eden is amazing, reminds me alot of Eureka Seven with lush sun kissed landscapes and the general fashion and graphic design of the world also reminded me of Eureka Seven.

Even the digital effects are incredible. Especially the one with the zoom almost fisheye effect from the cockpit of the YF-21.

Speaking of both the jet/mecha designs are awesome too but I mean it's Kawamori so of course they are.

Oh and then the ending song is only fricking Mai Yamane!!!!

I seriously hope this qualty keeps up because if it does this looking like a new 10/10 Anime for me.
