THIS IS AN MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- How did you guys find it? I thought it was pretty good. I guess the new Kira couldn't handle it and committed suicide. Ah well, it's nice to see an addition to the Death Note series. |

that was.. okay, I guess. Overall, the best about it was that I got to see how Near looked after 3 years (and was I mesmerized! He was hawter than even Light) The flashback was a welcomed bonus, and I find the way Near did away with the 3rd Kira with a mere word particularly interesting. That showed the astounding depth of his insight, and his capability as L. However, the birth of this new Kira was.. wrong. Or the atmosphere. Or the apple trade for the note, I don't know. Somehow I felt like at this rate, a new Kira will appear every few years, and sooner or later Kira will no longer be archived as a god or something mythical, but a phenomenon which occurred at an undetermined frequency. |

It was okay. I mostly just liked the Near parts though. Most else wasn't all that interesting to me. I do wish we had gotten to see this poser's face, though. |

I think all this chapter was meant to show is that a normal person can't use the Death Note so easily without succumbing to the mental stress that comes from killing people. The guy who got it offed himself because he couldn't take the pressure. This just makes Light stand out in terms of how strong he could hold his own composure, especially after using the Death Note so long. It's meant as a supplement to the story to bring out the true coolness of Light and L. Nothing more, nothing less. |

It was ok but the ending sucked. What was he thinking really? "I killed a bunch of old dudes but when L said I suck, it made me sad and made me kill myself." |

I have to agree about that. It was too...moralising, somehow? Yes, Light was strong enough to assume the moral "responsibility" (if you can call it that) of killing thousands, and this guy was obviously not. But I think someone who would react that badly would not have had the strength to start using the Death Note in the first place. On the other hand, reality is sometimes weirder than fiction. This being said, I liked it overall, seeing as how the whole one-shot was really about L and Light, plus Near's memories and introspection about L were interesting for me. (And Near's respect for Light was a nice touch as well *g*) |

I liked it. It shows how Kira had the individual convection to do what he did. It shows no many had the will to do what Light fought to the end for. |

I think that this serious showed that...even if a NEW Kira came 'C-Kira' Near realised that Light and L were really the superior ones, were the (as wacky as it may sound) the ORIGINALS XD It was like showing proof that what they did left an impact on people and they didnt forget them or replace them... And besides, we needed to know Ryuuk had his apples XD I wonder of they could make and OVA from this .... Or a special =P |

Oh my Kira, it sucked. It was just pointless and boring. Well, after all, what can you expect from a one shot focused on Near? 4/10, to be generous. cantius said: Meh.It was a serious waste of time... |

Maybe it's been too long since I finished the original, but the characters in this just really seemed ooc. Also, nothing really happened. And the last panel seemed like it was implying Ryuk killed him, but I don't know... |

Near is pretty retarded comparing himself to L . However this still deserves a 6 for showing us Ryuk's popularity in the shinigami world XD. |

It was nice, I liked it how it showed that not everyone can handle becoming Kira... It's kinda sad to know we'll never get to know more about him/her but well it was good :) Makes me like Light even more ^^ |

It was pretty good, it could've been better. I personally find Near a bit boring so it wasn't the greatest for me, I don't hate Near either but if the story revolves around him then I'm kind of not interested too much. I gave it a 9 because of Ryuk, I fucking love Ryuk, Ryuk is love. |

After finishing Death Note anime adaptation I wondered if the story could go further or could be expanded just a little. Years after that I managed to pick up this one shot manga. It was quite alright. I was satisfied after reading it, because more or less it corresponded with my expectations about Death Note's post-finale story. Nice idea for the story accompanied with decent art. |

I thought the one-shot was nice. It basically only reinforced the fact that, when you look at it, not anyone could have done what Light did with the Death Note, hate him or love him. And I liked the insights into L's personality before the Kira case, and how he chose Near and Mello as his successors. Plus, I had fun reading it. |

no idea why people are complaining about the ending. this was only meant to show how not all people are strong enough mentally to handle being kira |

This was a good read, really just a more realistic version of what would happen if someone got a death note and tried using it to be like Kira. Like other ppl said, just shows most people wouldn't be able to handle being Kira. I also like that we got some backstory on why Near and Mello were chosen as the successors to L. I don't care for either of them, but this did make me like them a little more |

A really good one-shot. We got more insight into L's character. And, the new Kira wasn't able to handle the burden like Light could. To quote Light- “Kira has become law in the world we now live. He's the one who's maintaning order. I have become justice. The only hope for mankind. Kill me? Is that really the right thing to do? Since Kira's appearance six years ago, wars have stopped, and global crime rates have been reduced by over seventry percent. But it's not enough, this world is still rotten, with too many rotten people. Somebody has to do this! And when I first got that notebook all those years ago, I knew I had to do it. No, I was the only one who could. I understood that killing people was a crime. There was no other way, the world had to be fixed! A purpose given to me! Only I could do it. Who else could have done it?! And come this far?! Would they have kept going?! The only one… who can create a new world… is me.” -Light Yagami. I still remember it. This might look like the ramblings of an egotistical maniac, but he was right. It takes a lot of mental fortitude to use the Death Note. The art was great and I liked it. |

Near's life has become rather sad without a powerful rival eh? So much so that he's pissed about a "cheap" copy surfacing after all this time. It was amusing to see him reach the title of "C-Kira." The one-shot took an interesting take of addressing the concept of assisted suicide, though, being a one-shot, it feels a bit rushed. Not so much the premise, as I feel like the setup was really well done and I immediately felt like I was immersed once more in that same Death Note-esque atmosphere. But once they quickly jump to the "younger generation" asking for death and then getting killed by C-Kira, it just felt a bit forced. I would of liked to have seen this played out over a couple of chapters, or at least quite a few more pages. That being said, it was still really enjoyable. I kind of want to reread or rewatch Death Note now. |

This one-shot sucked. I remember being eager to read it but then when I finally did it was so disappointing. Near isn't charismatic enough to hold my attention, and without Light around the story lacked an edge. The new Kira wasn't even evil per se. The only good part was seeing a glimpse of the shinigami king. |
