In modern society physical strength is not valued much. Unless your an athlete, being physically stronger doesn't really affect your day to day life. Yes it can be useful when you need to move heavy objects or perhaps in survival situations, but it's not something that people seem to care about in general. I go to the gym fairly regularly and from what I heard when I asked various people about why they go to the gym, it was a lot more to do with physical appearance than strength. Sometimes physical strength may even put you in a disadvantage. In my last job for example, I worked with mostly women and they often left all of the "grunt work" to me. So is physical strength important to you? Do you feel like it's necessary in modern society? Thoughts, opinions, discuss!

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."

I don't know where you live at, but here at Brazil you still need physical strength because this is a hella backward country.

Not to a point where I need to have the biggest muscles. But I do like a lean figure with some muscle.

Yes I do lift

Do you

Not really. But if I was going to work out, prison is the first place I'd be wanting to do it correctly.

Definitely. People wouldn't take me seriously, hell I wouldn't take myself seriously without it. Humans are physical beings, and that physical presence imbues all we do. I certainly value what little strength I have above all else, and consider it foundational for continuing to function adequately and live my life.

Physical strength is quite important to me personally, most of my gymnasium workouts are strongman regimes with a few volume exercises mixed in. Aiming to become a stronger version of my current self is a portion of my motivation.

Well depending on what preferences you're attracted to sexually I guess strength can be important to you.

It doesn't affect my job currently, but I'm only working part-time at Subway whilst I study my bachelor.

Does anyone else possess a bear-like power during times of excitement or anger? My insurmountable strength is seemingly inconceivable during my normal, relaxed state, but can be accentuated by emotional distress, or often by intense inebriation by alcohol or other drugs. Though normally quiet and introverted, my non lethal persona is apparently just a guise. One too many shots and the Kraken is unleashed, destruction being inevitable. This normally results in numerous bone fractures and utter panic caused by Godzilla-like hugs and earth shattering high fives.

Is this the fabled "retard strength"?
Is it possible to turn it off?

As long as I am strong enough to pick up a Manga I'm fine.

In all seriousness, from what I understand in Japanese culture physical strength, big muscles, and masculinity in general are looked down upon. As a guy, the skinnier and more feminine you look, the better.

Weights for show

martial arts and calisthenics for strength. I know guys who aren't that muscley but are really strong and can throw mean punches.

Anyway, strength is good. What are you going to do if a man wants to take your woman from you?

Physical strength is not important to me as long as I have enough stamina to run away from danger zones and reflexes. Although I used to carry my women around highschool (given the fact that they are usually around 40kg.), not sure if I can do better than that at my current state.

When I was a kid I used to care about strength a good deal, haven't done any proper exercising in years though since I've come to not care for it that much. Obviously it's good for anyone to have a healthy physique but it's not vitally important anymore.

If you are in such a shape though that you can't go around in your daily life without asking someone to help you open jars or carry grocery bags then you need more of it.

I do bodybuilding for now but I also swim and I feel stronger than before, I value strength alot but I'm only looking to look good for now, when I start boxing later though, I'll need to be strong. Nothing more embarrasing than a buff dude who's weak compared to a lean stronger guy.

Well, at certain point you'll have to deal with dickheads using force, be it for personal defense or because the motherfucker deserves it, you just can't take it out of the picture, this world is going to be a chaos, better be prepared.

no, as long as you don't have issues moving semi heavy things which most people can do then you're fine, being in the top 10% isn't that impressive unless you're female and into that sort of thing and if that's the case all the power to you.

It's one of those things that isn't strictly necessary but is nice to have. Plus it helps you out in more situations than ones that simply require strength.

Mmmm, with a good shoulder exercises great balloons don't care anymore, so it's a development issue, hormonal issue, you can best it with some exercises . . .

I thought intelligent would give me many job apportunities, but when no brainy job appear, my body is my tool, so my fitness is on the bad side, I try the most not to loose. It's important a balance, but don't shame about it, only do what you can. If you are not strong enough you can say help, so the strength of the most is better than one alone.

Important, but not extremely so.

As long as I'm strong enough to do whatever I need to do, it's fine.

I'd say fitness is a bit more important than pure strength.

I'm strong enough as is naturally (without working out) but I would like to be a bit more fit.

IMO armwrestling has very little to do with strength,it's mainly technique.

For me yes. I m training to be strong. It helps in martial arts, though its not most important thing in those arts as well. most important is that in makes me feel good. I like to feel myself strong and healthy. and yes, also looks.. physical appearance. everyone wants to have beautiful and healthy body and nobody wants to be fat.

Would rather just waste my time on this forum, eating pizza and laughing at idiots whilst arguing over things I don't care about with points I don't believe in. I suppose I could do with some just in case someone on here tracks me down to kick my ass because they got too butt hurt.
