| What character that wasn't originally part of a series was added later to make it it much better than it was before? For me: Kamazuki Suzuno. Between episode 3 and 6 of "Hataraku Maou-Sama!" I was getting bored to tears and about to drop the anime, but once Suzuno showed up I actually found myself enjoying it again.  EDIT: It's cool if a character was there from the beginning but grew in importance, too, sorry if I wasn't specific. |

Oh! also Selector Infected, again alot of people (not me) seem to like Aki-Lucky WAY more than the rest of the cast... i see her appeal :3 |

It might not be quite what the OP was looking for but it seems like Shino from SAO II might save SAO II from being a complete mess like SAO by being an actually decent character with a personality and weaknesses. |

| Yuno single-handidly saving Mirai Nikki is definitely the most extreme case I can think of at least though she's obviously introduced from the start gonna have to think a bit in order to find someone to fit that query |

| Well I can't really say I have any that solely stopped me from dropping a show but I can mention some that carried their respective series a *lot*. Isaac & Miria - Baccano (their combi stood for like 90% of the show's entertainment value) Edward - Cowboy Bebop (would have been a lot more one-dimensional without the contrasting character in the main cast) Hinagiku - Hayate no Gotoku (by *far* the most popular girl of the series and the main reason the second "season" was so much better than the first) Nico - Love Live (the only really interesting girl of the show and stands for 95% of the lulz on her own) Momo - To LOVE-Ru (#solved the harem genre like noone else has ever done and consequently turned Darkness into an infinitely better series than its original) |

Where are Lala and Haruna today? They are secondary characters! Momo is the biggest star now, and she didn't show up until the OVAs! That is actually pretty amazing.....a character that started as a background little sister of the Main Heroine overtakes everyone in the show and becomes one of the most beloved anime characters period. | Gasai Yuno? Wat? NO. Most psychotic yandere + weak lame MC is what ruined Mirai Nikki. And Near? Wat? No one liked Near. L was everything in Death Note. I cant think of a good example right now, but I do give bonus points to shows that have amazingly likable supporting characters. |

| Saki in Shinsekai Yori. Although the story is pretty perfect, she's a very good heroine because I usually hate female characters but she was alright for me. Honey and Clover, I really liked the addition of Nomiya who helped Ayu out. Without him, I would have liked the show less. | Joseph Joestar. Let's be honest, the first arc of Jojo was above average at best. When Joseph Joestar came in at about episode 9 (or 10, I can't remember), the series essentially hit perfection in terms of ridiculous pulp action. |
