@ossuary no, my real count is on Aniplanet I have my reasons for adding 20k here

I chose the over 200 option even though my MAL says I've completed 365, since I've seen several movies, OVAs, specials

@Sahil_Agarwal

There are multiple legit users on MAL who have completed 10,000 (not a lot, and probably not the people who voted in the poll, but they exist). It's a feat for sure, but when you realize how many shorts are in the database, it's more doable than you'd think.

The jump from 5,000 to 10,000 is quite steep, lol, but I'm currently at 8,000+. I do try to say "8,000 entries on MAL" and not "8,000 anime", because this means different things to different people (even with just series, do you combine multiple seasons as one show?). It's hard to estimate how many if you're excluding short stuff, but significantly less, as evidenced by my days watched.

@Sahil_Agarwal It was just an extra, I wanted to see if there would actually be people who would vote, but what you're saying only applies to TV anime, but if you count OVA, ONA, Movie and Special it can reach 15,000, that is, I'm not wrong in having added this option

@Kwanthemaster Yes, I count each season as an anime and also if it's an MV or old shorts from the 60s, 70s, 80s and so on...even if it's just 1 episode of 1 minute I'm already counting it as watched

@Kwanthemaster This list is not even close to being complete yet. I haven't even added half of it (I don't have time to do that). I started adding it at the end of last year. I'll send you the link someday when I'm done. I'll save your profile in my notes. But I've watched approximately 7,000 anime (more or less, like 7,300 or 7,500), counting TV, OVAs, ONAs, Movies, Specials, MVs, and if you consider the seasons separately, and everything that can be called anime that was made in Asia. But as an example, I've watched practically all the animations in TypeMoon's FGO game, but I don't count these separately. I also consider PVs and CMs, as they are separate media from regular anime. Besides, there are many incredible animations made as CMs, like commercials for anime animations with food or other products. I prefer to do it this way, and I think it better justifies my time spent with anime over the years. I think I managed to explain everything!

@ReMightyRon @Kwanthemaster The reasons are simple: I have a lot of free time and I just wanted to make this profile a database with all the anime, everything that has already been completed should be considered completed, everything that is being released should be considered as being released, everything that has not yet been released and so on... and the mangas I mark as just, manga only complete and reading.

When someone says i have watched 500-600 animes , are they laying?

I mean I have watched so many anime 300+ after watching that much , I don't know what to watch now

Are those people consider a 3 season anime as a 3 anime counts ? 😕

Like demon slayer has 4 seasons, do they take this as 4 anime

It's too stupid

I watch anime regularly since 2012. But if i were to list everything, there'd probably 500+ of them.

Keeping track and remembering every anime i watch is a bit hard. But forums like mal kind of help me refresh my memory for a bit.

Started watching anime around 2016-17 ppl still said it was weird back then it only became popular/mainstream in 2020. I've seen over 200 anime (its funny bc around late 2021, I was around 180-190) and it was only recently (around 2024) where I finally completed 200 anime. It got harder for me to binge watch anime since I'm busy all the time. I mostly rely on seasonal anime since its easier for me to follow through.

it does help a lot of entries are short like an ova, special, movie. Also everything one piece, which is a lot, I worked into a daily exorcise bike workout. Also each seasons adds 50-60 just to stay up to date since I started. That alone is like 40% of it lol

My old account had around 2000 watched anime. I started watching anime, consciously, around late 2004 or 2005. So, around 1000 anime, since at least 900-1000 of those anime were incomplete or 3-4 episodes in.

I started watching anime in 2006 the first anime I watched was bleach the funny thing was I never intended to watch it I was looking for something else and accidentally pressed on bleach yet I got hooked from the first episode I,v been watching anime ever since for 19 years in my opinion as fellow Otaku I feel the anime industry isn't the same as in the past and what I mean is the creativity is quit lacking in the past every one or two years a masterpiece is created yet now there isn't much sure there are good series and bad ones ( excluding AOT,SAO and the other famous series) but it's rare to find something that pulls you in from the first episode a story that makes stop everything and just focus on it and gives you the excitement and a true enjoyment.

@flippantlemon69 I agree with everything you said and if you've never watched it I recommend an anime that's very different from the ordinary with a story you'll never forget, it's one of my favorite anime of all time called Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei.

Over 500 if counting distinct entries the way they are organized in the database on MAL (with separate seasons of the same series in a lot of cases having their own individual pages) and that includes films, any shorts, etc.

But I count and keep more exact track specifically of the number of individual distinct series I'm watching (since that comprises my main interest in anime and the bulk of what I watch), excluding any I'm still currently watching, have placed on hold, or dropped. And that number is 334. 334 distinct series and counting.

I started watching in September of 2016 (years before I joined MAL), but only watched six series that year and only a few more across all of 2017 and 2018. I didn't start regularly watching many series back to back until March of 2019, a few months before I joined MAL.

Honestly, I don't agree with those who think that masterpiece animes are no longer released, compared to the past, there are now many more adaptations of beautiful works, The anime industry should be criticized for overworking the poor animators, not for creativity, which is not lacking in any way.

And I’m 400+ entries if you include titles dropped midway, 300+ completed
Got helluva lot of rewatches in there though.
@ghier I can see it. Some anime fans are old. One woman is over 40 years old, and her mom watched anime. Her mom is likely over 60. Her mom watched Speed Racer, and the series premiered like 58 years ago. That's about 172 anime per year, and take in mind that some anime are counted as duplicates due to having multiple seasons. Plus movies and OVAs and specials. It's possible.

I actually have no fucking idea, I've been watching anime for over 25 years but only started keeping track 3 years ago and still discover series (like Amanchu! which I streamed simulcast, both seasons) that I never had listed. Most everything during 2006-2016 I've lost track of apart from favorites.
@SuperAdventure I'm in that boat with anime and manga. I will add if I happen to remember, but that's it.

@ghier Yeah. I think this site in particular even tracks back to the 1910s. Though tbh, not much to be found before the 60s.
