Better than the first episode but that's not saying much.

Lain seriously needs to get some better friends, most of their conversation consist of talking shit about her RIGHT IN front of her.

Eh I don't like how the tech looks. In the first place, I'm not a tech person. But it can't be helped, it's an old series. Only a year older than me.

Man the characters are annoying me already. Lain is always staring at stuff, too. That bothers me, tho she's still better than others.

Lol that reminded me that I need to upgrade my pc soon, too.
As slow as ever. I just hope I remain interested in it until it gets a bit more exciting.

I don't like Lain's friends. The last few seconds were interesting. Also I hate the ED song, the singer sounds dead.

I essentially have no idea what's going on, but the presentation and surreality is strangely attractive. It draws you in somehow.

Even more freaked out by Lain that's for sure. I'm wandering if it really was her, thou it wouldn't make any sense (is it useful or even possible to talk about sense within this series?) it was her cause i don't think she's dealing with memory loss issues.

Still, loved how out of everything she was when compared to her friends, kinda reminds me of myself in a sense.

I can't believe the last minutes of this episode, i was like WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?!? MOOOOVE!?!?! i was so worried and having the guy commit suicide was wicked.

On to the next one.

Still so many questions but I think I understand more than I did after ep 1.

Lain is somehow connected to the Wired and she seems to be unaware of the fact.

These Accela pills also are related to the Wired. Maybe it allows you to see how everyone is connected like Lain said at the end of the episode.

Lain seems to have two different personalities and may be the same person their friends saw.

I'm really interested. I hope I'll be able to understand it without looking it up.

What was I supposed to be doing writing all that? ...
Was he "chatting" with "someone" ... maybe with his "imaginary friend"?

Or maybe it was just the computer trying to find Mails. (Although he was heard typing)

Wow what an episode! Lots of mind fuckery. Some of the animation really does remind me of the original Ghost in the Shell.

Lain getting that top of the line Navi at that time. It's like getting a GTX 1080ti in current days. It's amazing how technology has evolved in the last 20 years.

So now Lain may have unconsciously doing stuff?! Could it be that by the end of this show. She will be the goddess of the net world!

Lots of speculations!! Can't wait for the next one!

This episode was so strange and ambiguous that it left me with the intrigue to know what will happen later.
This series shows that it will be a bit difficult to understand, but still I will continue to see it.
Strangely it catch me.

this was i believe my fourth time rewatching the anime, and it's crazy how they sprinkle in the details of the story as early as the first two episodes, it makes this shows rewatch value so high, because you always pick up knew things each time.

Everyone are connected indeed, but he died though..
Does this mean he's still connected like the first episode girl who suicided?

Didn't want to jump to conclusions, but now it seems to have been confirmed; some sort of reality-people-connecting thing called "wired" is out there. I guess Lain really does have a lot of experience with the "wired" thing, considering she just went off and said that to a shooter.

Lain's eyes were quite creepy. And that guy hiding in the pole is scary. So the girl that looks like Lain, is another person pretending to be her or is it really Lain? Lain's mother and sister are very odd.

She's being followed by strangers and her first visit to Cyberia was a very unpleasant one indeed but at least she has her own top-of-the-line Navi to enjoy her virtual experience in the Wired even more now. It's really weird how she just casually talked to that guy who's probably mistaken her for her lookalike even when he had a gun pointed at her head like that. It somehow worked though so it's good kek

I agree with how strange Lain's mother and sister acts towards her. It's as if they don't want to have anything to do with her most of the time. It's probably because of how aloof she is but they're not helping in improving the situation by doing the exact same thing on purpose.

"No matter where you go, everyone is connected." Disturbingly accurate.

Well, things sure didn't take their time in getting confusing already. Still a rather intriguing episode tho. Particularly wondering how relevant this Accela "drug" will be for the plot.

Guess by now that Lain has become some sort of "bridge" between the real world and the Wired and that's why those creepy-ass men in suit are following her. Pretty sure she was also at that club the night before but for some reason (her entering the Wired and being a different persona there, maybe?), she can't remember having gone.

In this episode, I noticed that the computers that Lain uses are weird they accept voice input like an assistant but considering this was made in 1998 this is weird.
For the very first time, I got the dementia vibe, the split personality vibe, the uncontrolled control vibe, this is something I was looking forward to.
This episode made me more encouraged to believe that Lain is a daydreamer or rather this is not a supernatural series right now. (School hallucination)
The ending was a bit gloomy but fine I will take it.

"HE'S GOT A GUN" ( everyone panics )

Those last few minutes went straight Walmart Avoid-Deny-Defend training. Lain evidently never paid attention despite having to do the training every 3 got dang months.

And yeah, I still have no idea what's going on.

This feels like watching some confusing psychological horror, Lain is a very interesting character to follow around but its still so much mysteries surrounding her and Wired

Also we all wish we could so easily convince our dad to buy us a new PC like Lain did

Lain seems to know more than she's letting on. Or some kind of conscious inside her knows more than she does herself.

Most likely it's the latter. At this point, it is quite easy to guess that perhaps Lain was the mastermind behind all the suicides and the drugs. Split personality stuff and all. If this is purely a psychological anime then the split personality probably came to be out of her rejection of the real and adult world (some scenes & symbolism certainly alluded this).

Some nice allusions & symbolisms are: the other Lain at the club, the old man shown when she's going to school (probably killed himself because of her), the girl with the shadowy figures at the school (either she was raped by the "shadowy figures" or the girl and the shadowy figures were another victims of suicide driven by Lain), the shadowy figures could also represent Lain's fears or maybe even guilt (just like the shadows with the splattered blood), the imaginary friend mentioned by her sister, the father who simply conformed to Lain's instruction to set up the new Navi and Lain's words to the gunman at the club ("Everyone is connected.").

It is also worth noting that we frequently saw Lain saying that she doesn't know anything about Navi or the Wired. This kind of dialogue in the script is obviously intentional.

The sounds in this anime is really good. Reminds me of Akira, though not as cool as the sounds in Akira.

Can we interpret Navi as a metaphor for worldview or mindset? The father clearly said that she can't use kids Navi anymore. She needs adult Navis in order to communicate and connect with people her age and adults. Clearly those lines from the father were intentional as well.

Also, "everything is connected", I'm still having a hard time interpreting these words but I have a couple of ideas. Guess I've read and watched enough stuff to the point where I could guess where this is going in the second episode LOL.

At the scene where someone was looking at Lain at the school and those ghost or hallucinations of lain suddenly coming towards her, that creep me out lmao.

Well that was a mindfuck and I really feel clueless about what has transpired.

Did Lain see another dead student who is connected to the Wired? Lain sounded so robotic when she said "no matter where we go we are all always connected"(she must be connected to the Wired). On a side note, Juri's such a good friend. There was a guy with a gun, but she nevertheless tries to save Lain.
