I guess better animation than the previous episodes, though some shots are choppy.

I don't remember if they skipped a content here from what I have seen with the episode, so can someone enlighten me.

Is this Uta, no. Why. Where's the sclera inking. Please don't be him
With the neck tattoo, its pretty obvious who's him, plus the hair style. Why he have/can have that face, that would be a spoiler xD though I can say that face is Arima, to distract Take.

Well, Pierrot at least got Takizawa right... Kinda...

We'll get Sasaki Vs Takizawa next episode so... I hope the animation isn't as shitty as it was in this episode.

Finally decided to watch the new episode and overall this hasn't even been relatively decent. Typical Pierrot adaptation. I didn't expect much going into it luckily.

I don't know the manga, but shouldn't this series be more... bloody and gory? Right now it's pretty much the level of some random shounen anime :| Other than that I guess it was fine, can't say I got really engaged or excited though.

The manga is more bloody. The thing is that Tokyo Ghoul isnt even a shounen manga but this studio keep skipping important stuff and character developments to show the battles and even then they animate them badly.

Read the manga if you want, read the og first and then :re.Its actually pretty good and all 3 adaptions didnt make it justice

I mean like, the episode wasn't the greatest, but at the same time it's still decent. Gonna have to agree with what some other people said. Takizawa saved this episode.

Can someone please explain the plot to me again?

Wasn't it something about Kaneki's experience in the ghoul world? I feel like now there are just too many characters re: (the anime) wants you to understand and relate to them when they only give each of them less than a few minutes of show time.

At least we got some action this time. Can't wait to see Haise remember Kaneki with both of their worlds slowly merging together (at least that's what I hope for)

I'm gonna be completely honest, this adaptation is turning out to be better then I expected. I had really low expectations for this since the first two seasons were absolute horse shit, but this is being surprisingly good even though it's a bit rushed. Even though I already know what's going to happen since I've been reading :re ever since it came out, I'm still excited to see how they're going to handle the fights and some other stuff. IF they keep being faithfull to the source material and don't drop the quality then this will be the definitive TG experience in anime form.

Art felt kinda wonky this episode. Certain scenes were great (Takizawa) while others looked goofy as hell (a lot of a Tooru and Urie shots)

Animation was hot garbage like usual

Voice actors are doing amazingly well like usual

Pacing wasn't rushed but damn, those cuts felt awkward as hell

Urie's getting better in terms of combat, but with his personality, he did let it all go to his head though, so I wasn't surprised when he got caught by Madam and is now half in her mouth. XD

Either way, there was so many fights and a lot of minor characters getting killed left and right that I will forget about in a day or two. As for the animation, it's a tale of two halves. The first half of the episode had the animation being choppy and inconsistent. The second half was a decent improvement, with the fights looking far smoother, even if the art quality isn't that great at times.

The preview for next time looks really interesting though, so I'm looking forward to that. =)

This is not a sequel to root a , this is a sequel to part 1 of the tokyo ghoul manga so if you want to understand what is happening you have 2 choices :
1- Read the manga (Best choice) and you will understand everything
2- See spoilers for tokyo ghoul manga and search (not the best choice really)

So I read TG the manga, but not Re and I am still confused, there seems to be at least 3 separate ghoul sides here? Am I supposed to know who they are?
We have;

Ghouls in black/with black masks
Ghouls in white suits
The ghoul audience just in masks

Which are the aogiri - the black mask guys? If so who are the other ghouls? Look Ive had a lot on so maybe i just don't remember but I don't really get where all this was explained either in the Tokyo ghoul manga or in the new show?

And then we have
the CCG
the quinx

Its kind of hard to differentiate between all these factions tbh

EDIT: Feck it I had to read the re manga - the chapters often start with a round up and explanation of who everyone is and what faction the belong to - its so so so helpful

Things feeling lifeless and plastic, imo, has less to do with the animation and more to do with the lack of story/character development in this arc.

A problem with these past couple episodes is that we've just getting a bunch of throw away characters dying left and right to the point there's no immersion with any of them. If we saw the group walk into a room with Nutcracker standing on top several corpses, it would have made little difference to wasting our time showing us her killing completely random nobodies for a few minutes that could have been used as screen time for characters that mattered.

Agreed with this ^^^

/// does anyone know what chapter of the manga the anime is on now?
It’s a bit hard to pin point an exact chapter since the events in the anime aren’t exactly in order but the upcoming episode should cover chapters 26-29~ given what we saw in the preview.

Yeah there's like 100 masked ghouls, but one chick with no weapon and one investigator just kills them like paper seems anime like. investigators jumps 3 meters, i mean aren't they humans? I wish this anime could've been more serious.
You’re talking about Juuzou right? The “chick” with the black hair is Suzuya Juuzou. And he’s nothing to scoff at. He’s one of the strongest investigators in the series. And also, Urie is powerful in his own right, as well as being a quinx. Not to mention most of the ghouls hiding weren’t exactly the fighting type.

Ps. Juuzou had his knives so... he did have weapons.

It should be bloodier and it should have a lot more gore... That's kinda one of the reasons many manga readers don't like this adaptation. That and the fact that they're completely glossing over any sort of important characterization and development.

To be honest even if you read tokyo ghoul part 1 manga you will still be confused because they cut so much details from re anime so i suggest after watching each episode read the manga chapters that belongs to it you will understand everything.
The group is aogiri tree and white suits that belong also to aogiri tree , the ghoul audience doesnt belong to aogiri tree.
I really feel bad for anime only watchers , they are probably confused as fuck :D

Yeah tbh reading the re manga is the only way to make sense of a lot of this and tbh even the manga is confusing!

The comments at the end of chapters are often "who is he again?" "I forget which one this one is" and "how are they in aogiri" etc etc so I'm so glad to know I am not alone!

This might or might not make sense after reading the whole manga we'll see - even the manga can be confusing but at least it has helpful backstory on characters and actually explains SOME of whats going on!

When the fat lady started eating that one guy, it reminded me of Attack on Titan. But in AoT, I'd really care about it if someone died, even if we'd only seen that character for a little bit.

The frustration of this series is that it's not very well done, but it's just interesting enough that I don't want to drop it.
...but then again, I unironically like Warau Salesman.

What the shit? Uta's a bad guy? Wasn't he just this nice ghoul who made masks?

And Takizawa became a ghoul? I don't remember that. But I barely remember Takizawa from the last seasons, as is. It's been a while.

BUT! Someone I do remember...what the hell happened to Amon? He was a big character. He's nowhere to be seen this season.

nope , season 1 adapted half of tokyo ghoul manga part 1 it was a good season but it was too rushed , season 2 was not canon that means that the second half of the manga is not adapted in anime , they should have rebooted season 2 from the manga first before making season 3 but yeah they have done it.
That is why most of manga readers are pissed about the studio making the anime and alot of anime onlys are confused they missed a whole season from the manga and they cant connect the events happening in anime.
just read tokyo ghoul part 1 and after you finish season 3 read part 2 because although season 3 is adapting the manga story it is still rushed.

The battlefield is pretty chaotic with OP af ghouls slaying the weaklings that are the CCG workers.

Though the battlefield is chaotic, the fight scenes are... Average at best and terrible at worst. This is supposed to be an event where the animation budget should be poured on so the audience can get fluid epic fights and not just some half-assed swipe, stab, stab movement. I could still enjoy this thanks to me having seen more shitty animation from other show, but come on! However, no complaint on OST though, the OSTs used during battle scenes are fantastic!

Woah, I'm hyped to see Haise fight against Takizawa! Plus the recap showing a pose Haise make that resembles how Kaneki look!

I'm not even bothered about Urie, he thought he's some badass strong mofo killing a bunch of ghouls when he can't even fight Big Madam properly, ending up inside her mouth, what a fucking joke!
