It is a good series.

It is even more relaxing to have a protagonist that is an old man. You don't see those very much. Only a dozen or so.

So far it is a good adaptation, Panel by Panel. The CGI could use a little polish but hey it is not the worst of it's kind so it will do.

The intro was catchy and in full English.

I read the manga. If their is one thing i am hoping they could fix in the anime from the manga source. Is to change the ending. I won't spoil but it was anti climatic and out of place when compared to the rest of the series.

Sold start 8.5/10. Keep it up.

It has 85 chapters. The first episode covered 7. Based on that it will definitely be a full adaptation in one cour. It is just weather it will be 11 considering it is airing in NoitomaA or 12 episodes in all.

Really good episode! the anime looks promising! I am already attached to the MC.

The director and animator of Shingeki no Bahamut worked on this so the animation is on point!

Yeah, I almost stopped watching after the Ant CG thing. It got better but it wasn't very consistent.

Finally it started, i was waiting for this anxiously and what a great start. I never got sickened as i am with those two ungrateful sperm despises, what a shitty family. I liked the OP, the ED and the narrative pace that appears to take, 9/10.

Just waiting (anxiously again) for next week, that will be focused on Hiro.

That was.. pretty awful writing. I'm supposed to believe this guy comes home to his family with an adorable surprise Shiba Inu and their reaction is, "Eugh, it'll make the house smell"? I mean, when I heard mecha grandpa I thought "okay sure, fine." But I can only suspend my disbelief so far.

That's one strange remake of Inspector Gadget.
In all seriousness, that was pretty good. OP is pretty awesome, too.
Not sure what the point with his cancer was if he just get superpowers at random that cure him, though.
The part where he tried to be badass, but got his ass kicked was pretty funny.

I thought this was a solid start to the series. Only thing I didnt like was CG for the dog but its really just a minor thing. Felt bad to see Ichirou being treated the way he was. Poor man has had a long hard life and then having that news of cancer hit him was the final blow. But now he's a robot and ready to save some lives!

I'll admit, I wasn't a fan of how the manga ended and so if this is a full adaptation, this is one of the few moments where I hope MAPPA is faithful to the source while actually giving an original ending.

Regardless very excited for the next episode.

That was some intense stuff. Bully fail compilations could add this. But while it was exagerated (I mean, the family and all) I quite felt the situation Ichiro is in. And the especially the way he defeated those rotten kids was impressive. I thought the light beams for sure would pierce them and then there'd be a lot of blood.

And, of course, as everyone already mentioned... that OP!

Yes, since I started reading the manga, I was in the hype for watching the anime! Opening and ending are beautiful, can´t decide wich is better lol there's some different details from manga, but that's ok since it don't change the plot. The cg was ok for me, I think it goes very well because of Ichirou is cyborg (and drawing each animation frame would be hard...) and the show have a "more reality than fantasy" aura so.....
BEST PART: felt that satisfaction seeing that bunch of furbed brats under that firework rain and running away... That's why I love this show.
Now let's wait for the next week!

Pretty good first episode in my opinion. I think I'll end up having a good time with this one. CGI doesn't bother me too much so far. I absolutely love the OP and ED.

Ichirou lived such a sad life ;__;.... Good thing he got a second shot, no matter how miraculous.

Not sure what to think of this.
- CGI is beyond average
- Voice acting average (realistic?)
- Trippy, which is intriguing
- Weird/weak scenery composition
- Below average soundtracks (like from an indie game)

Pretty average but unusual enough to watch. Will give this show a fair chance, I suppose...

After not being wholly impressed by Yuri on Ice and disappointed by Kakegurui, I'm happy to see that MAPPA is finally producing some quality content ;) The art style also reminds me of Parasyte for some reason

If this series can be a full adaptation of the manga with this level of quality, I will be impressed

Also, I didn't mind the CG at all thus far. Probably some of the most natural CG I have seen from anime ever.

[b] Wait, the manga has ended? Maybe I'll just read that since the gantz manga was such a fun read. I've made a kinda loose rule to only read completed manga cos I just end up forgetting to follow the ongoing ones lol.

Manga has ended at volume 10

Has it really ended because I read the last chapter and it didn't explicitly state it was the last chapter. When I finished reading Gantz it stated it was the last chapter and to look out for the author future works. My guess is author just on break or waiting fo see how sales do after the anime airs

At least the CGI looks better than a lot of shows I guess. Would have preferred 2D though - you can't beat it!

Pretty good start.

The first half was so melancholic and sad, I really felt bad for old man Inuyashiki with the way his family and other around treated him.

The ending scene was really strong with the way he cried after feeling proud of himself for having saved a life.

I can't say that I like how the everyone around Inuyashiki are a bunch of stuck up brats though.

The OP and ED were both really good but it's not my favorite of the season. :3

Classic power fantasy, but it could be the interesting kind. I've always thought this show would be like Breaking Bad, but so far it seems more like Ichiro is "breaking good" instead of bad. It was cathartic to see him finally drop those crocodile tears at the end of the episode.

The CG is basically a necessity in this show, I don't understand the complaints. It's possible to do machinery in 2D well, but I think in a TV anime with a grounded style like this it wouldn't look very good, or it would require too much of the available resources. I only expect Trigger to completely avert CG when animating machinery these days.

Well, the first part go me crying and thinking "well, that is why I don't want kids". Dog is the best person in that house and she is not even a person.
And with the homeless and the asshole kids I was rooting for some Gantz-ish gore kid's slaughter but I liked how it went way more, it was smart and they didn't got way if that as well.

The opening is soo goooood!

Gonna watch for Hanako <3

Some people don´t like dogs and pets in general, so I don´t find it that ilogical in first place. I personally avoid most dogs, and cat fur gives me allergy. But I´m ok with lil parakeets and goldfishes.

always down with man with a mission

story seems interesting funny enough it wasn't the old looking man turning into the terminator that was weird for me but just how distance his family treated him the only reason i can think of is because he looks way older and just being plain assholes like almost everyone else shown so far besides the one homeless man.

also 3D looks fine it's just odd how much it's being used, understandable for all the moving robotic parts and what not this an't the 90s with high movie budgets to animate that level of detail but the opening scene was him getting out of a car and he was just full on CGI even the dog was CGI at times so it's sorta jarring jumping around between them

I heard many good things about the manga but knowing that anime is coming I managed to hold back the urge to watch it.

As expected it's rather good and the fact that 'normal old man' is the MC is making it unique from the get go. For me the most impactful part were definitely the few first "boring" minutes of the episode. Sure I said boring because they were boring but they shown the cruel reality from the old man's perspective, family ignoring him and there is only dog to cheer him up. That part was really hard to watch but it was impactful and makes one think.

Adding to the cruel reality, later on we have those kids bullying the homeless person and practically kill off the old man without batting the eye, just because he got in their way. Well, I believe, or at least I really want to hope that this was an extreme case but then again it's not like people like that don't exist... this just makes one depressed though.

Hmm... it's really heavy story I guess.

Inuyashiki is pretty old looking for fifty eight. I felt for him when he couldn't even tell his family about his prognosis, the way everyone interacts with him is either apathetic, annoyed or disappointed. The dog seems to like him though.

I thought he was going to leave the homeless man to those thugs going with the sentiment "the world doesn't care about me, so why should I risk myself for it?" and it made me happy to see him turn around. They were both going through life changing moments, so it made it suitable that he was the first guy he saved. The cgi is not the best, but by no means a deal breaker.

Yeah, hiring live action actors, that have no prior history or experience in voice acting, to voice act the main characters of a popular anime is definitely a wise choice.
I'm not saying it's a wise choice or anything. I'm just saying that it doesn't mean that the production quality of the series is low. They must have a budget to have a cast like that. They're not "nobodies".

Not really? The only CG advertising this anime had in the PVs was of the mechanical parts and the aerial flights. Which would be totally understandable since both would be very hard to animate. But that's not the case.
In the PV below, you can see a lot of CG being used, like when Inuyashiki's on the swings, etc.

It's not about lying or telling the truth, it's about MAPPA going shitty with their recent anime.
I'm not gonna disagree with you on that since it's apparent that MAPPA screwed up this year. But I'm not automatically gonna hate a studio for one bad year, since all studios had their ups and downs.

Inuyashiki looks older than his age, but the VA sounds younger for his age. Not pleasant on the ears or eyes, and nothing stands out except the MC, but will at least hang on for the story to pick up.
