In that case, let's try something else. Some better than the others, but still good.
Battle Angel Alita
Hyper Police
Je t'aime - this one is very long. :P
Memories
Roujin Z
Seikai no Monshou
Seikai no Senki
Seikai no Senki II
Seikai no Senki III

As for the The Legend of Black Heaven, it has one of the best opening songs I've ever heard in anime.

I know the Alita Manga already. Hyper Police's character design turns me somewhat off. Seikai no Monshou sort of too. (not to fond of elfs and what looks like that...)

Je t'aime looks fine. Probably trying Rroujin Z, soon, too. Legend of Black Heaven sure looks obscure. XD

It's only the opening like that. Later it's normal slice of life anime, with a bit of sci-fi. :D Overall, the whole concept there is weird, but the music is great. And if You're saying that this is obscure, try watching Trava or Dead Leaves. Those two are weird, especialy Dead Leaves.

Dynamic, very lively, full of energy. (both characters and visuals)

I just finished Toradora. That was very much so. The other one I throught was very much so was the Tokikake Movie.

Any genre you have in mind?...ecchi tends to be rather drummed up

but an anime slightly similar in genre and feel (but still quite different) is Tears to Tiara

Another one is Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai!...though fair warning, I just thought it was a cute show like Usagi Drop, but many people seem to like it for it's lolis...

Air Gear, it's action, commedy, sports, ecchi. It has one of the best soundtracks. Some people don't like it, I love it. Yet the story cuts before the best of the manga comes into play.

Bakuretsu Tenshi, girls+guns, and we have a lot shooting going on, without much fanservice.

Dai Mahou Touge and Dai Mahou Touge Omake, are a great commedy. It has one of the best scenes I've seen in anime, with vegetables as the main heroes. :P I know that You rated Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan low, and it's somewhat simmilar in the terms of humour, but it's short, and crazy. :P

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, comedy, harem, school. Quite nice, and I'm a school comedy romance hater. :P

Outlaw Star, action adventure, and one of the classics.

Tokyo Tribe 2, action, drama, has a bit of durarara feeling with the gangs and stuff, but that's all it has similar with DRRR. It has quite unique animation style, and some rap music. Again a bit crazy.

Oh, erm, kich ecchi out. That is pretty much this one genre I absolute dislike aside Gore and Splatter. (Any other component must be like totally "wow!" to compensate for that.) I watched Nisemonogatari recently without knowing it being ecchi, and @__@"

I know Usagi drop already. That one is somewhat lively, but more on the calm side like Natsume Yuujinchou, so not really the atmosphere I am looking for.

I only vaguely remember that Bkusatsz Teshi was very bloody and me disliking the humor over that even more. I guess, "normal" comedy element are fully sufficient. @_@"

@Shina_luna, did You get drunk before writing? :P As for Nisemonogatari being ecchi, we can say that there are ecchi and ecchi. Sometimes ecchi is just a bit naughty, other times it's borderline hentai. There are the ecchi, where the MH gets a glimpse of panties and goes all red, and there are ecchi, where the females go around showing their tits every episode, and there's shit like Manyuu Hikenchou, where the main heroine goes around cutting other females tits off. And yes, it sounds worse than it looks. :P

I don't remember Bakuretsu Tenshi being very bloody. It has rating PG-13 - Teens 13 or older. It's not like Black Lagoon, or Canaan. And if You don't like blood, better not watch Tokyo Tribe. :P Yet, it's not as bloody as let's say some parts of Hokuto no Ken.

Yeah, people seem very split on Oreimo. But whether people liked it or not usually seems to come down to the same issue, which is whether they liked Kirino or not. And that seemed to come down to whether they could relate to her behavior and understand her, versus if she seemed to make no sense and just seemed to be an irrational and selfish bitch. So I think it's actually important to understand her to enjoy it a lot, because the subtle ways her reactions changes from moment to moment are a pretty big deal (and entertaining for me, at least), like it's her own form of subtle non-verbal communication. The other characters understand it too, even if it's never a perfectly clear way of communicating.

For example, imagine some siblings that used to fight with each other while very young. But they grow up and have cooled off, don't fight anymore, and get along by ignoring each other like the other doesn't exist. If they have to speak to each other, it's straight to the point and it they make it sound like they are annoyed to have to speak to each other, like "Mom says come downstairs," "Yeah, whatever." They don't dislike each other anymore, but they feel pressure to keep acting like they are annoyed in the same way some grade school boys might feel pressure to pretend they don't like girls or anything normally associated with girls (dolls, anything pink, etc.). If one were to be sincere and try to talk about something, it would be awkward for both siblings and the other might say something like "gross, get away from me," even if he/she was actually interested.

That's not the exact situation in Oreimo, but it's a similar type of relationship and attitude. When Kirino asks for her brother's help, she feels more comfortable demanding his help, but it's really her form of asking or pleading. And she wants him to act like he grudgingly agrees to help but is still annoyed while being with her. If he's acts like he's genuinely concerned, it makes her uncomfortable.

Check out the OP song lyrics that describe her feelings. The song is named "Irony". It describes the invisible wall between them, built on lies (the "act" that she feels pressure to put on), that it's too uncomfortable to look at him if he's too nice and sincere, that she wants to be closer but can't bring herself to say it directly. So if you understand this, you'll probably be able to see her communicating all these things through subtle changes in behavior. It's ironic because those behaviors on the surface would normally send a totally different message than the message she is actually communicating. Like it looks like she hates you, but it really means she cares.

If You say people are very split on Oreimo, tell me what are they about K-ON. Here people are very split. They either like it or hate it. Amongst my friends wno watched it the score is from 3 to 9. there aren't many people who say "eh... K-ON was fine." People either like the characters, like the slow plot, or they hate all of it saying, don't ever watch that shit. Before I watched K-ON I've heard both good and bad opinions. BTW why nobody recommended Shina_luna K-ON before? I didn't see it on her list.

Other than that her list is quite funny. Like Wedding Peach, watched 50 out of 51 epiodes and dropped before the last one. :P Or watched 5 episodes of Tsubasa Chronicle, and dropped, and watched 6 episodes of Tsubasa Chronicle 2nd Season, and also dropped. :P And simmilar to Wedding Peach, with Juuni Kokuki, she watched 42 out of 45 episodes just to drop just before the end. Death Note dropped at 33/37 and the best one is InuYasha dropped at 167/167. Seriously. You couldn't watch the few episodes and get those titles to completed?

Yeah, perhaps. But I tend to think the differences on K-ON are more based on whether they like the genre or not. It's very popular, so a lot of people who don't like that sort of thing might have watched it anyway to see what all the fuss was about. But just about all the negative comments on Oreimo are on one single aspect: Kirino.

Well, even it has a reason and is all subtle, it doesn't change, if it's annoying, no?
(Same for Haruhi.)

I am absolutely positive, I won't like K-On alltogether much, since I already dislike Chintanda from Hyouka and the bunch from Sora no Woto. I still inted to watch it, since it popped up with a chinese dub. Just waiting for a certain user to send me the extracted subtitles

Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai looks a bit like what I would never pay attention to by myself. I guess, will try out perhaps.

About my list. Wedding Peach had been watched on TV and I wasn't missing the last but 49 or so. I never caught up seing that episode and never felt the need to. 5 of Tsubasa Chronicles, because I though Bee Train did an afwul Job. 6 of second seaason because I was just looking if they got better, which they didn't, but I didn't have much of anything other on that occation in hand, so I just watched a bit more. Juuni Koku made it a hard job to actually get as far as that and that is where the arc stopped and my french dubbed episodes ran out. I didn't really have the nerve to look for the rest. I think I tried one episode, and gave up.
Death Note was in fact a jump from episode 27 or so, to the last handful. I jumped with the manga almost the same, and just wanted to know if it ends the same. (Through I watche the summary, so I have a complete gist of things.)
Inuyasha is however just a blatant mistake in the entry, haha. That must have happened, when I was mass-adding all the titles I watched before I joined MAL.

This is referring to Oreimo, right? I'm having a hard time seeing any parallel to Haruhi.

The issue isn't that you just understand the reason for Kirino's behavior, like as if you sympathize and it's okay. It's that understanding it changes what she says/does, just like something said sarcastically will mean something entirely different depending on whether you detect the sarcasm or not. The other characters in Oreimo get it too.

For example, Kuroneko and Kirino look like they are at each other's throats trying to assert the superiority of their preferred anime TV show and ridiculing each other, but it's pretty clear they are good friends who want to hang out, even if they spend much of their time together trying to one-up each other. Everyone else sees this as plain as day. Nobody thinks to ask them why they dislike each other or why they hang out, because everybody understands that they do like each other, that they are friends and are getting along, even if their personalities clash to make everything into a competition between them.

On the other hand, if you take Kirino literally instead of reading between the lines, then nothing makes sense. Kirino looks irrational, ungrateful, you can't understand why her brother seems to take her abuse and still want to help her out, etc. So an important component of the show gets lost. You need to watch her with the contextual understanding that the way she acts is basically a function of her stubbornly protecting her pride and avoiding embarrassment.

Yes, I was referring to it. And I just meant, even if a annoying behavior gets an explanation, even meaning, it usually doesn't change much in points of annoyingness. Just the subtle change between facepalmingly/aggravatingly annoying to barely bearable.

Just my impression, at least that was the case for Haruhi.

Yeah, not really much similarity there beyond the fact that a child is adopted.

I'd classify Papa as ecchi. I don't see why it's not. The 2 older girls are often used very suggestively. They've got those shiny/oily bodies, which I think is clearly for added sexual appeal. There's often comical sexual innuendo. And what the heck is that sexy lingerie they call pajamas? Pajamas my ass... There's plenty of partial nudity. Lots of fanservice. So yeah, ecchi all the way.

If you that show (not for just the ecchi stuff I mentioned, but all aspects of the show), they'd you'd probably like Kodomo no Jikan. I think it's just better all around. It's got a much better emotional drama/tragedy component to it. There's better serious moments to it (like how in Papa, they face issues with making ends meet and being able to take of the famiiy, but KnJ is much more compelling). I think it's quite a bit funnier. It's actually listed as ecchi, but I don't recall it being much different than Papa. I don't remember if there might of been nudity with some of the adult characters (or if it was limited to bras or bathing suits), but there is no nudity from the kids. The difference is the kids in KnJ are the perverted ones, and say some great sexual innuendo double entendres worthy of spit-takes and purposely tease and torment the teacher.

So long story short, if Papa no Iukoto didn't bother you, KnJ isn't much more worthy of the ecchi label, but it's way superior in the rest of its content.

@-Saichi- to those already recommended I'll add:

Macross Frontier - some nice fights in space.
Outlaw Star - one of classics when talking about action space adventure
Seikai no Monshou, Seikai no Senki, Seikai no Senki II, Seikai no Senki III - a great space opera series, first part has least space in there, but worth watching.
Starship Operators - one of my favourites space anime. One of the few that have space tactics with 3 dimensions, not like most that use only two dimensions for space fights.
TO - a short ova about space
Uchuu no Stellvia - another space opera, this time with some romance
Vandread - for the space, comedy, ecchi :P
Planetes - can't say much about that, since I haven't watched it yet, but from what friends say, great space anime

Not sure what you mean...?

Among the precures there are a lot of diffrences. Heartcatch had a huge quslity diffrence among the episodes for instance. (And the movie -actually a complete filler- was even really nice). Fresh Precure was imo rubbish for the most part, but few episodes were quite decent. Suite Precure seems to have quite the similiar structure (at least the movie was entirel dismissable, imo.)

If you are looking for similiar stuff, I'd recommenend Ojamajo Doremi far over Precure. It's the "second big sister" of precure and shares the same character design as heartcatch (which was by far the most eyecandy one of them) and far more mature than precure will probably ever be. Through it does start of childish, but then grows and the mature moments come more in the latter two seasons/the OVA-mid-season. The series does span over a time frame of 4 years after all.

If you are about to watch Precure, beware of a LOT of monster-of-the-week and dismissable filler episodes. In fact, if those are all kicked, only 10 decent episodes max with some substance for the main plot are left.
Heartcatch had about 5-7, with were gergoous eyecandy AND with relevance to plot. Aside there was about again as much with Plot relevance and perhaps another bunch, which had a dissmissable plot, but still quite eyecandily to look at. But Heartcatch had a genereal highter production standard, from my feeling.
Toei's long running series tend to jump between "OMFG, looks great" to "OMFG, this is so stupid".

Anyway, if you want to watch magical Girl by Toei, Ojamajo Doremi ist far better. You could stard with Ojamajo Naisho, which is a mid-season between season 3-4 and very episodic, so each episodes is almost a complete standalone, which doesn't need much of anything from the other seasons to know. They are pretty much the condensed version of the more mature side of the series. Especially episode 12 has a incredibly serious topic considering the audience.
