| Just as great the first episode for the most part, the case got wrapped up nicely. It doesn't need romance though. |
| First it was heartbreaking, then it went for a touching romance that couldn't be and finish with blooming romance that could happen, this was a quite amazing episode for me. |
| Shouxue must've really had a tough life, being originally a silver-haired girl that was considered taboo in the old dynasty. And to be discovered by Gaojun, he decides to keep mum about her secret. But still, it's clear that the Empress Dowager wants the Raven Consort dead, and it's only by the sleight of hand that she got saved. This is also knowledge to Gaojun, who he was waiting for the right time to strike back at her. The jade earring case of "Xiaocui" Ban Yingnu continues, and surprisingly Gaojun also has one from Yingnu herself as a memory to remember. And while that got resolved, it's the inner hearings of the court ladies and eunuch that alarms Gaojun to take action and execute the Empress Dowager to close the chapter of his mother's self-suicide. While it's easy to look at a possible romance between Shouxue and Gaojun, I hope it isn't the focal point as the cases are more intriguing. |

| Really love the way the narrative background is being depicted here. The earring investigation helps to really deepen more on their tradition and ethics for others to uncover their trauma, sake of historical records. |
| I have to admit I thought Empress Dowager would be the main antagonist in the story, not that she can't be still as it looks like she cursed the Emperor but I did expect her to be alive And I was already kinda expecting a bit of romance, I'm just hoping it doesnt end tragically aaa- |

| I really like the story telling of this anime. Still not 100% I'm going to finish it but I'll keep going. The only real hurdle I have despite the time period is she is 16 and already pushing romance. I would want her 18 AT LEAST. Because 16 just gives me eeky creepy vibes all around. |

| Guess the Q Dowager cursed the Emperor with her last breath. You'd think Shoxue would pick that up. I really like the OP. It sounds like it's from a musical. The orchestration is lovely. |

| The ending of the story seemed to me instructive and tragic - revenge is a beast gnawing from the inside. We are all human, but why do some behave like creatures? The main heroine was really pleased this time. |

| Just remembered that I had this in my watching list. So, I am enjoying how it's going but it's difficult for me to keep up with the names :-| I feel like it would've been better if it was Chinese dub. Was expecting them to kiss in the end but good that it didn't happen cuz it would've been too soon. The ED was beautiful. |
| This episode was beautiful. I thought the first episode was okay, but this was a turning point. Her magic is beautiful and the king is so smooth. I will say that the animation is really weird, especially when the king flopped over like a piece of wood or something |

| The first episode was horrendously paced and made me almost drop it but I decided to give it another one. Now I'm completely in. I'll enjoy this tale. |
| Thought it was going to stick to episodic detective things; this sharp turn into reluctant/star-crossed romance territory isn't really want I was looking for. Seems to be a perfectly fine series if that is what you're looking for though. |

| This was a beautiful episode. The ED is even more beautiful. I think I slept on this anime when it came out. I really thought the emperor was going to kiss her and not fall asleep lol it seemed like she was going to be homeless after her mom was killed, how did she end up being a consort? |

| Maybe it's just me but I feel like the way the OP is sung is somewhat reminiscent of how Cantonese opera is sung. Quite fascinating. Ah yes, tongue-cutting and more palace drama murders, a Chinese court classic. Hmm... I personally think the pacing this episode was a little too fast. Even if the Emperor has supreme authority in the palace, everything seemed to be advancing too quickly? Especially with that execution, was NOT expecting them to cut straight to the execution right after they charged into the palace(?, not sure how to translate here) The ED art is REALLY good. They absolutely nailed it. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
