Aina's glasses was a bit forced IMO. Normally you'd see something like this if the glasses were all that was left of her/she was missing or something, but she was still wearing her glasses. So they had to take the glasses off her dead body and present it to Haruto. I thought it was creepy.

If you think the glasses scene was creepy, how's about the scene where sensei was kneeling on top of the blood-stained floor, trying to wipe Aina/Haruto's blood with her rag? XD

Not really because it makes sense, well the cleaning so others don't see it part not the "why is there blood stain there when she was blown up/floating" part.

But that is creepy. Spoiler for strong description:

With that in mind, sensei was cleaning up by herself with only a rag!! I wonder where all the futuristic cleaning equipment is?

Well cleaning up after a death is something that has to happen, that is just reality. Agreed her being on her knees with just a rag is creepy if you assume a massacre went on there. As for your spoiler, that is why I said the scene wasn't exactly believable. I just let it slide that they didn't want to show something that graphic.

The glasses thing though, I was like "why are they carrying those things around?" I suppose it was meant to be symbolic of a dead hero's sword or something, but glasses are like clothes, and she was still wearing them after she died. It's not like it was "this is all that is left" type thing.

You gotta be honest with yourself and admit that it was a very good episode. I think the anime will only get better from here on. Let's just hope the first seven episodes were just mere minutes that set premise to what we are going to witness from here on.

I am sad that Aina's life was made a sacrifice to save this anime. But for this anime to have any hope, maybe her death was inevitable.

More L-Elf please. While the rest of the anime is less than average, the moments where L-Elf is involved in this anime are pure gold.

A fantastic episode and a deserved 5/5!

Actually, I think people should stop putting their comedy goggles on while watching this anime because the plot has turned to serious in the last 2 episode.

In my opinion, the core story of this anime is good and very interesting. If people still have a mindset of "watching it for comedy," or "watching it for the LOL," then you will miss out a lot from enjoying the story.

For example, episode 8 had continued the flow from episode 7 nicely. Each character's emotional angst was depicted with consistency. Battle scenes blended well with plot revealing, flash-backs, and emotional scenes. Bgm was well-timed to evoke audience's feelings. All-in-all, this is a good pacing episode, the best in the series yet.

There are more questions to be asked after this episode as well.

Well to these ones all I can say is that it is too bad for them. If they want to waste time on a series they think is bad, then it's their personal choice. No one can dispute that.

Agree, the director has to censor the gores, but he still wants to evoke emotions. So the scene turned out be a little creepy and unrealistic.

Well, when Haruto's friends collected her body for burial, they had to remove to glasses because it was interfering with her "resting eyes." That's just common sense, you cannot bury someone if his/her face is not at peace.

I suppose they can show Haruto the body, but remember that the scene is said to be right after the fight in episode 7. Haruto was probably walking with them when he asked "where is Aina?" Someone must have just moved her body away and carried her glasses. Thus showing the glasses as evidence of Aina's death is realistic and not creepy at all.

I'm actually enjoying this more because it is funny, I won't say BAD but I do believe this has crossed over into campy or cheesy. L-Elf, vampires, seppuku robots, high school musical, facebook/twiiter in battle, etc... Even the main story is about "Nazis" vs greedy Americans vs the peaceful but sleeping powerhouse Japan in the middle is quite campy if you think about it.

It is a space (soap) opera, I'd say not taking it too seriously is the way to go. I don't think this anime is even taking itself seriously.

I'm pretty sure when you inform someone of the death of a loved one, bringing them a bloody object they were wearing is a tad unnecessary.

Several things stood out.

- You can tell the animators realized there would be a plot hole with the entrance and sorta just threw a line in to compensate for it. That could have been handled better, I felt alot of Dorussia's mission was based on things learnt and done by that one dude when he took the pictures of the Valvrave's, but since those scenes weren't included they should have expanded a bit more on the plan before hand.

- Alot of scenes are still coming off as hilarious. They need to stop mention calculations and the robot seppuku is still lul.

- The fight scenes were extremely well done. The CG is perfectly blending in with everything else IMO, tbh the fights are probably the highlight of this show, despite the mechs being over the top (don't really like this kind) but they are still enjoyable.

even though there are many non sense scenes as people think them as jokes. I dont understand why this show where at least there is a badass char like L-11 is worse than gargantia where there is no good character ? Amy ? L-Elf is just ridiculous and overpowered to the point where it is funny. He's just one big deus ex machina so there is no suspense to his character. No one can win against him and if someone does, it will seem so out of place.

I agree on not taking thie show too seriously. However, that goes for most of the shows that are airing right now and the ones that have ever been made. You don't see serious show like Psycho-Pass poops up very often. Thus, comparing to that standard, Valvrave is not anything bad.

As for "campy or cheesy," that's 2 episodes ago. In ep 7 and ep 8, those are not prevalent anymore. Thus, when the show changes direction, we should treat it accordingly so that we can maximize entertainment value out of it.

For example, Gargantia changed into more Slice of Life in the last couple episodes. Thus, people should change their mindset according to the writer/director's intention to be able to appreciate the anime for what it is. Hasty reactions when the anime is not finish and one does not have a full picture can only damage his/her viewing experience.

As for Valvrave, what you are seeing now are still a bunch of Lego pieces and until the house is built, you cannot say it is predictable, or soap, or campy just yet. My sense is that there are more to the scenario of "Nazis" vs greedy Americans vs the peaceful but sleeping powerhouse Japan that you mentioned. There are two big questions on the "peaceful" JIOR with a master technology and the "Nazi" Dorssia where it looks like the nation's princess is being held captive by a hidden power (Cain?).

Well I just found the president's sister really adorable on this episode! AND of coarse L-Elf awww moments kept going off this episode.

Well could Cain's Valvrave be in the school so therefore his really desperate in taking it over? Or could he just have kept it hidden mmmm.

Oh and just once I wished Haruto would have the upper, yea his "kicked some ass" but in my opinion he was just a chess piece a PIECE!!! not a player... I know it will take some time till his able to move on his own completely but still ><

Not as good as two previous episodes, mainly because this did not have enough Saki. Although its nice that she is still treated as second lead. Gotta savour it till it lasts, as I have a feeling it won't when other pilots are introduced. Anyway, the amount of attention she is getting pretty much still makes her the best girl, though.

And yeah, this is getting towards a tragedy where they can't save everyone or something(still feeling that Highschool Country is the "Galactic Empire" the golden seven are fighting against 200 years latter). Somehow I am 100% sure that Shouko will be EXACTLY the person they could not save, considering there are parallels to the princess of L-Elf's past to affect him and her death would affect every single of the possible pilots.

AS for people raging at the stuff,
Seriously, the fact that its a big self-aware space opera should have tipped you off. This WILL be filled with narm, over-blown heroics, millenia-spanning war, overblown melodramatic romance, aliens, worse-than-hitler type of badguys and some sort of new-age technological underlying message. The difference from usual space operas is that this one is very much self-aware of what it is and how narmy and campy it can be and runs with it, occasionally winking at itself.

I am actually thinking that there's a bit of Russian history thrown into there as in Liselotte WAS royalty and then some huge revolution happened.

My fav moment is when he break free from the things that tied him like it was nothing. He's just pretending to be tied up.

This episode features another standard L-Elf saves the day sort of bit, but the story is at least opening up to good end. The mention of "rune" probably means that Valvrave operates off some sort of mystical power, and the mark on Cain's neck suggests the same. Now that Haruto and L-Elf are finally cooperating, I'm having higher hopes for this series. What can I say? At least Haruto's friend didn't run off to another Valvrave and simply save Haruto and Saki or something.

Oh, and student president is now officially confirmed to be a siscon.

actually this series is so random so anything is just possible think about it..its not so out of the blue really..for years i've been watching anime(13yrs) OPs are always the give aways to mysteries..and so far its right considering inu and thunder will be pilots..if this happens next episode then i wont have any doubt anymore.. :)

as many of us already thinks yes L-Elf would probably wont have any VVV, remember lelouch he only had few epis where he had nightmares and in the end of the day he uses people to be his pilots just like L-elf his more like his the head a prophet even..although you cant erase the fact that he is a 1 man army..

Seriously they shot a fucking hole in their environment, how are they going to fix that, they have limited resources they wasted all that water. Why does the president think the student council position means anyhting?

Besides all the wtf moments I thought this was a good episode and this is my guilty pleasure anime.

An Eru-erufu episode is a good one. I enjoyed his flashback and how they had the song in the background. He's the type of character that has everything planned how he pretended to be capture all this time. That failure who liked glasses got shot easily, Eru-erufu on the phone running casually takes them out easily with a pistol.

There are two different type.............the ones released by the Mobile Armors are drones. The other type are piloted by soldiers. Just see the designs of their head, you will see the difference.

Just realized this.

So if Cain is actually THE Cain, does that make VVV-Tan Lilith? It would certainly fit the whole vampire theme going on.

in that case it is safe to presume VVV-girl name maybe is Lilith
