| Since I made a joke reply I'll take it serious this time. Cause although I joked, I have loved this stuff ever since I was a kid. If I were a rouge in the 1500-1600s with no limits to what I could get...this is what I'd sport Armor: Chain Mail: Brigandine: Leather Gauntlets: suede boots/trousers: Weapons: Katana(predictable?): Short Bow: Buckler: Blunderbuss pistol: Boring I know, but hey... Depending on the time period(not that any of that is realistic), I think that would be cool gear. If you couldn't tell, I'm not all that knowledgeable about this subject. I just think it's cool and have got most my information from History Channel, RPG's, ext. |

| For armour I'd say Lorica segmentata, as well as gothic plate with sallet and bevor. Frogmouth helmets can also look pretty awesome. For blades, I'd go with Zweihanders, Norse swords and Roman Gladii, as well as most forms of halberds, bardiches etc. Crossbows and Pavise is another awesome combo. Don't really see much point in muskets and so on though since modern guns are infinitely better in all aspects, and they don't really have any old school uncivilized charm like a lot of the bladed weapons have. And hell yes, First-rate battleships with 100 cannons. Omnom. The 1801 HMS Dreadnought is probably the most awesome example of this. |

If I was a soldier at the the time with no limit on budget and training I'd decked myself out as Winged Hussar. Expensive warhorse, half armor, long lances, swords, and pistols. Concentrating on both shock and swiftness to crush enemies. If I was just a charming adventurer, I'd stack myself as such. For armor, I's just have a just a simple buff coat to protect from slashes and trusts. Metal armor isnt exactly utilitarian for adventuring especially since I wont be planning on getting into any battles. For weapons, I'd deck myself with a carbine that is able to be used and reloaded on horseback, a decent backsword and a pistol. Also, I would be wanting a good riding horse. Basically something like this with a horse.  |

| I wasn't really going for realism, more just a fantasy situation if I were thrown into that time period and met a merchant that literally had anything/everything. I'm not knowledgable enough to actually tell what would be authentic or not. I would just love to have the stuff I listed and maybe be someones bodyguard, and spend all my free time in the pub. Also if I were a thief, I would track down Henry the VIII's helmet and snatch that thing. I don't know how anyone could see out of it, but damn is it cool.  Yea, I like Souls games lol. For fantasy RPG's it had the most realistic cool looking armor/weapons out of most of the games I can think of. Especially compared to that armor set the other person posted from Elder Scrolls, that crap looked retarded. |

The length of the blade is too short to go through 5 bodies. It can cut through an unarmored man however, this can be done with many different kinds of swords as well. So, it is not exclusively a katana trait. |

| In no particular order: Daggers Katana Rapier Bows: - Not crossbow, and certainly none of that compound shit (Well I know it could be useful but I like the classic stuff more. And it's modern anyway.) - Almost any type, the ones I like the most are Longbows, Flatbows and Recurve bows. |

| I've always had a thing for spears, particularly javelins. Provided you've a good arm, it's pretty lethal. Spears in general suffice too. Attack while hiding behind a shield, or charge boldly with its long reach. And if you're hungry, you can use it to fish. Armor...nothing really. I wouldn't want to be clunky. I'd only wear a burgonet (protects the neck iirc) and arm guards (and maybe a cape too). |
| I like the Brown Bess Musket, Flintlock Pistol, Organ Gun (used by the Ottoman Empire), Puckle Gun (never used in combat since no countries bought them from the inventor but this weapon was around at the time), Longbow and Arrows (due to a master of this weapon being able to get off 4 shots in the time of 1 crossbow shot and a few shots in the time of a musket shot), Katana (in terms of its efficiency at close range), Rockets, Mortar, Cannon, and Howitzer. I know it was a bit much but I named off a lot of weapons I like from this time period... |

| At one point I was interested in different types of Chinese weapons. Especially the meteor hammer. As well as some of the weapons of martial arts. Twin sabers, staffs, fans. Deadly acrobatics! I'm fond of medieval armor and crossbows/archery as well. |

If we're going to have throwing weapons I'd rather pick shuriken, since they're relatively smaller, so you can pack more of them. Like. Have a vest that's packed shitfull of them, so it doubles as armour. You'd just have to be very careful if you need to scratch yourself. |

A full kit of tosei gusoku samurai armor would weigh around 50 pounds. The older models such as O-Yoroi would weigh somewhere around 60 pounds. It isnt what I would call light armor unless you were only wearing the cuirass and tassets. Unless you mean kusari gusoku which was Japanese maille armor which should be lighter. |

The Historian Xenophon said that Greek Slingers were more accurate than Persian Bowmen. Plus, it only takes a pretty short while to learn how to shoot one, sadly I don't have a source that shows how long it would take but it was a really short time. Like only a couple of years. Plus they have a range of about 360 yards with the right stones. So slings are a very good choice for a favorite pre-modern weapon. The Romans were also afraid of slings and some of them considered slings to be supernatural. The only downside to slingers as ranged infantry is that it requires a certain lifestyle and culture to produce quality slingers, the pastoralist lifestyle. Not to mention, slings pretty much have infinite ammo. |
