Side plot or no, has there been any word on when Gaiden is getting released? Ive been waiting on pins and needles for the better part of the year. Ive furiously searched the depths of google for answers and my efforts have been in vain.

everyone claiming the director confirming that lealouch is dead give me a bloody link!

i agree that the ending was brilliant but is really that hard to think the other way? i mean for a person to gain code geass they need to die right hence "lelouch is dead" (for now until season 3 hahah)? also i think there are more people who rather have lelouch back than not...

anyways.... as much as i love lelouch i dont think he is coming back, though if it really happens i be super happy :)

but i guess as long cc is there im happy out

It was in a magazine article I think although a scan of the actual article would be kinda hard being its 2 years old, but I did find this in one of animesuki's groups and yes its translation from the actual interview and magazine not made up. Read threads (1) and (2)

Seems like they're trying to milk off on the popularity of the original. Who knows, this one might be different enough from the first one that I might actually like it; at least I hope the characters are tolerable. I'll definitely give it a shot though, since the series is so popular.

really looking foward to this. however without lelouch it wont be the same. he was such a great character...

lol please dont believe the video posted above. the quality is horrible to be a *just in dvd cut* also the face is all out of place...

however if you want hope, i can tell you i also support that theory. as a evidence you may read the novels of code geass (yeah its from a book not a manga). the ending in the book is a little bit different. if i remember well there is a scene in the book after CC prays in a church a mysterious man opens the door and cc goes with him. its more obvious to deduce that its lelouch but i dont remember all of it.

If Lelouch isn't in it, and C.C. is, she will only remind me how much it sucks that lelouch isn't in it. He made the anime, same goes for suzaku.

yeah but honestly lelouch had already demostrated that he is the best i think that using him again will be overuse of his awsomeness. and ova maybe good though but i cant imagin another season with lelouch.

^^Truly a work of mastery in it's department.

-The ending to R2 was flawless, I don't think they'd tamper with it unless utterly necessary. Thinking that this would be a prequel, another story with different characters but in the same universe. Same theory. Akito awfully resembles Lulu, so he may be an ancestor or some sort of relative...?

but its not him being dead that made the world better, its everyone thinking the death of all the evil in the world that made his death heroic :P if he lives his life in secrecy nothing would change and in time the world would forget his face and he could live a normal (immortal) life, isnt that a possibility?

Code Geass series is great, people want more of it, so do i, but not continuation of Lelouch of the Rebellion, how they ended original Code Geass is great as it is.

So spin-off Code Geass would be great, as long as they execute it well :)

small comment concerning original code geass ending ^^
lelouch is immortal, he bend geass realm with his double eye's geass and made it reject Charles plan,
when Emperor evaporated it transfered his code (originally VV's) to Leluch.

And from what they tell us (in CC and the Nun flashback scene, also when Emperor took code from V2)
in order for Code to be activated on new user
the new user must die first, then the code revives him, this disables his Geass power and grands immortality instead.
this also perfectly explains why Lelouch still had geass for quite a while after Emperor died.
Everything was all elaborate plan by Lelouch, killing two birds with one stone. Zero (Suzaku) kills evil Emperor (Lelouch), Zero becomes figure of freedom, Lelouch becomes immortal and runs off with CC.

also CC probably wouldn't be looking so happy if he was dead.

after watching the series sooo many times im of the oppinion that in the end Lelouche is immortal and he lives in secret with CC, or perhaps the ending scene really was just to give us false hope.

I wouldnt mind seeing Lelouche alive and a new anime in 10+ years with the world in a horrible state. maybe suzaku can die or something and bk without zero not enough.

As for this series, if its executed well I will love the producers, if it ruins the series i will want to kill them. Lets hope they execute it well :)

It's not R3 or Season 3 , it's an OVA not the continuation of Code Geass , so you can basically predict that R3 will be a continuation of R1 and R2 but that's a different thread.

Let's not forget that this spin-off takes place in 2017, during R1, which means that Lelouch isn't even dead yet. So I don't get why people are talking about him coming back to life xD
It wouldn't be unusual if they mention him. I highly doubt that he'll make an appearance though since he never went to Europe from what we saw. (It would be awesome though)

It's either a spin-off or a story with the same timeline as the original series. I just don't see how they could make a true sequel to the original story with Lulu dead. And if they bring him back to life, a lot of fans would be disappointed. Although I personally would like to see him, there really would be no story since supposedly the wold is peaceful now. There wouldn't be any action to speak of, it would not be as fun as the original.

However I think that eventually in the future there will be an addition to the original story, perhaps a remake with new material. My money is on that, hopefully they'll do it before I loose interest in amine.

I really hope they won't restart some war and sacrifice Lelouch's peace for rating. I will personally hunt them down if they do that, whoever "they" are. Code Geass had a great ending (at least if how I perceived it was correct) and it shouldn't be ruined by a sequel.

He is alive and well since this takes place in 2017 a.t.b and he died in 2018 a.t.b. Except he isn't going to be a main character, but we will most likely see his secret identity Zero.

I think the Geass Project should announce after this Gaiden a new 3 Season with Lelouch, without Lelouch many people will feel sad. Geass Project please do a explosive season with Lelouch as main caracter after this Gaiden! It would be very nice to see Lelouch with a good return. I was thinking if Charles returned from the C's worlds to accomplish revenge over Britania and Lelouch knew about that and returned too.

What are you even talking about? UnAssist got it spot on. There is no way the writers would bring Lelouch back despite how his character may be.

I really don't think they'd reintroduce Lelouch, since they named it "Akiko of the Ruined Country" instead of "Lelouch of the Rebellion".

Moreso, the anime page says it takes place a.t.b. 2017. I just finished R2 today and *spoiler ahoy* Suzaku's fake gravestone said "2000 - 2018", right? So 2018 is that time when Lelouch was Emperor and stuff, meaning in the time of this new series, Lelouch hadn't even died yet to begin with.

This time frame does allow Lelouch to appear alive... but he's definitely not a main character... I'd think. (Unless they pull something like a Kuroshitsuji II with bait-and-switch characters.)

And honestly it would be pretty sucky if Lelouch was somehow resurrected by some plot magic, or whatever the writers can think of to keep milking the cash cow. The resolution to the series was pretty amazing as is, and it'd be a shame to see it suddenly turn to "Trololol he's not dead look look All Hail Lelouch"

But we never even learned if he died or not... it was an open ending, and the ending actually strongly suggested he was alive.
Honestly, I can't see how anyone would be surprised if it turns out he survived all that, or how it could be percieved as trolling to the story...

Remember that Charles vi Britannia had his immortality sign in his palm and he somehow strangled Lelouch before he disappeared? There is a possibility that he transfered his immortality, in my opinion. And from what I know, you have to die before you gain your immortality? Like Charles did when Lelouch killed him with the gun, and when C.C. was all drained in blood after the death of the nun, maybe she died too somehow? Maybe that's why Lelouch wanted to accomplish, his own revival after death, like he wanted to do with the whole world, destroy it and then revive it. I personally don't think that Lelouch is dead, he can't be dead, maybe he was the one who handled the horse at the last scene with C.C. in the cart. The "Right Lelouch?" phrase made me think that maybe he was talking with him. =/
A sequel will be well recieved as well as it doesn't ruin the series, but I really hope that if it will be one too, it will be awesome. :)

Nah it was fan-made, Sunrise already had word of this video and announced it themselves so many years ago.

And who cares about Lelouch. More importantly, that pic was misleading. The two main chars look like R2 and C.C. way too fucking much that it got my hopes up for some more C.C., god damnit.

I have to say that there is a strong possibility that he is alive, since they left it an open ending like that on purpose to people would believe what they wanted to. However I do believe he is alive, Lelouch is the sort of character that would always have a back up plan for everything and there is no way that he was gonna die like that, in the end you can clearly tell that he is with CC.

Moved from tv series to ova so it won't be anything earth shaking. Unless i'm remembering wrong that this was even originally marked as a TV series?

And to comment on Lelouch. Whether he is alive or not will never ever be known. There will never be a sequel to R2 for plenty of reasons. The most obvious one being that there doesn't need to be one. IMHO Lelouch died. He died for his sister, his friends, and for the sake of the nation's conflict. C.C. talking to Lelouch at the end and her head tilting back can mean a dozen things. She may have just been looking up more towards the sky even! You a symbolic thing that he will always be with her.

But guess what? I could be wrong! We won't ever know : )

Just when I get my hopes up, this turns into an OVA /O\.
A 4 ep one, at that... smh.

Oh and why do a lot of people want Lelouch to be dead anyways? I know that it makes the anime have a good close to the plot but why was there an open ending, then? It makes us consider the possibility of him being alive but at the same time forces us to just give up on that idea. Maybe he really is still alive, seriously. So stop hating on the "Lelouch is alive" people.

I agree, it was left as an open ending for a reason, its basically a believe what you want to believe thing. Like I said before I still think that he is alive however I don't try to force it on people who think he is dead.
