Tbh it really has to be Attack on Titan as a "Modern Classic" (on the same vibe as Death Note). It definitely isn't my most favorite anime but it is something that I find really good and enjoyable at least.

I do think though--and I am confident in saying this. For latter half of the 2010s that title will soon go to Kaguya-Sama. With the third season on the way, the more it solidifies its position as a strong, written romance. Just gotta hope that A1 keeps treating the show well and possibly give it the Monogatari treatment in terms of adaptations.

Kaguya-sama easily, it had a big impact, there probably wont be anything like it for a while, and the level of quality will make it watchable for new fan for years to come.

Aot is my other choice, idc about the ending people usually dont care that much about the ending of other "classics". After the hype dies down everyone will agree its a classic, some people are just silly.

probably Aot, march comes in like a lion, and monogatari. I think some of the others are good but flawed, maybe you can include haikyu but im not a big sports anime fan so god a bit board. Chainsawman shouldnt even be on the list cause its not even out yet.

I feel so bad for the people who choose aot. We will see if people still think the same after the ending. For me the answer to the tread is the monogatari series.

Violet Evergarden or Fate/Zero are amazing in my opinion

As much as I love Re:Zero, I dont think an unfinished story should be called a classic. Though it does have extra merit as an isekai classic.

Chainsaw Man doesnt even has an anime yet.

AoT is a classic the same way GoT is, the end just doesnt hold up.

Fate certainly deserves a mention though the gatcha game is overshadowing its anime legacy.

So all things considered easily Monogatari. Its finished, its proven over time as more than just a weak seasons hype show. Its just that good and also I think it is in the top 10 bd sales of all time. (Together with stuff like Gundam Seed destiny oddly enough)

PS: Monogatari is already considered a modern classic anyway. Bake is over a decade old after all.

AoT, anyone listing something else is just wearing blinders.

If you met a casual anime fan they would know AoT. People who don't watch anime have heard of AoT. It has like twice the viewers of the next most popular anime listed. TBH some of the series listed are really only known within the anime fandom and about half will most likely fade into obscurity after a handful of years.
There's no need for all this tension.

Neither. I can't view them as classics because I was there when they aired. To me they are still just the flavor of the month.

Now, the only one that I can safely say opposes that is HxH 2011. I watched as it was airing and to me this is a classic today.

3-Gatsu no lion or Fate zero. AoT doesn't stand a chance with that ending. Haikyuu is good but season 4 is a little weak.

But if we talk about popularity and influence, then it's aot ofc.

Although I dislike both of them, I must admit that only Monogatari and AOT in this list have the right to be called modern classics. Others are just not popular and provoking enough for such big title.

Kind of a normie response. Though MHA and Black Clover. I feel like both have been good successors of the big three (DB, Naruto, and OP). Haven't seen JJK or DS yet. Though possibly them too. MHA had a good start. Kinda fell a little. Though nonetheless seems more lively with the MVA academia arc. Now moving onto the war arc. With Black Clover kind of being the underdog. Rising in fairly good ratings. Getting better and better as the arcs go by.

Monogatari and March comes in like a lion. Need I say anything else.

Love is War might be classic status after S3 but who knows.

Has a 8.60 mean score

I'm pretty sure Isekai is gonna die out just from being overdone so much every season.. so it's definitely gonna be Monogatari for managing to be creative and memorable in a sea of samey mainstream titles

March Comes in like a Lion and Monogatari series are already cult classics, same with Fate series as a whole...much more than just Fate Zero as a stand alone series...

...And Kaguya-Sama and Re:Zero have the potential to become the same over time, while March Comes in like a Lion is the only one that can become a true classic....given more popularity.

Violet Evergarden and Oregairu will be remembered as good series, not classics from what I've seen so far, same with Haikyuu probably....

I think Attack On Titan will be called a classic because of it's popularity despite being a disappointment but after a few years, 5 or so, this will change, becoming a well known series without a good conclusion, like Akame ga Kill or something that stands out despite the lack of quality, like Mirai Nikki...

I can see Chainsaw Man becoming a second JoJo over time, a series with multiple parts that stands out, having the potential to become a classic if the story gets a very good adaptation....

Out of those March Comes Like A Lion is the one I'd feel the most comfortable calling a classic. I loved Kaguya and some parts of Monogatari as well, but not in quite the same way.

SnK is already a Modern Classic.

Monogatari and 3-Gtsu are also True classics.

Kaguya sama has a great potential for a classic Romcom.

My personal choice would be Attack on Titans but I think as a modern classic it would be Violet Evergarden. VE tells stories that are the most western and pays homage to European culture. Like lots of classic anime that's been focused on Japanese culture, VE represents a more globalized perspective that anime now has. It creates a world that anyone can come into and find peace or heartache in those stories.
