hunter x hunter.
I had nothing to do.
my life was hunter x hunter. I did nothing but watch hunter x hunter.
never an anime has made me feel so empty.
very few animes made me feel this, but it was generaly long running shonen, that I don't even like anymore.
one piece and naruto were similar to hunter x hunter in that it was my life, one piece is almost as high as hxh, but still hxh is so high.

EoE and Evangelion in general left me such hard emotions when I finished each episode, it didn't help that I was facing depression and I had 16 years old, but it also made me happy in a lot of moments like the anime ending, each time they defeated an Angel, etc. So yeah, you could imagine how I felt when Evangelion was over, all that sadness delayed my recovery

The other animes that made me feel sad when I finished them were Sailor Moon and Fucking Cowboy Bebop

There seem to be plenty of people with depression who find comfort in watch Evangelion. That’s always interested me. I can understand with how the tv series ended, but EOE is a different story, at least that’s how I see it. There are a billion ways to interpret it!

When I watched my very first anime, Attack on titan, of course, I had a extremely, extremely painful bout of post-series depression. It made me read the whole manga in less than a week. Later though, it was Hunter x Hunter. I think i started crying because Togashi was on hiatus and a new season probably wont air until I'm 80. The ending of hunter x hunter, although not thereal ending, left me so empty. Code Geass, Death Note, and Gintama also hurt. (Although Gintama hasn't ended, it hurts whenever I think of it ending.) I hate to admit it but when I liked... Fairytail... I had post-series depression when I finished the manga... don't hurt me

Inuyasha, back when I was little. I couldn't accept the fact the series ended, I was literally crying almost every single night for a month after finishing. Bakuman also hit me really hard which was actually just a little over two years ago, cause everything about it grew so much on me. Also, even though I don't count it to my favorites, for some reason Noragami also hit me hard when I finished it.

Aw! For older shows like Cowboy Bebop and Yu Yu Hakusho and even Inuyasha, I found myself feeling less empty and more nostalgic when I rewatched them, which is a feeling I enjoy as opposed to feelings of PSD.

That's psychology for you! Evangelion is one of those anime that have a lot of interpretations and ways of see it and most of them are right or fairly correct. Now that im cured I decided to give the rebuilds a Chance and 1.0 didn't have a negative impact in me. Maybe it was the animation and direction of NGE that made me depressed, who knows.

HxH has been a great experience for me so far. As someone who loved Yu Yu Hakusho and Togashi’s work this is right up my alley. I still have plenty of epsisoes to get through, but I can sense the emptiness hitting me once I get caught up.

Magica Madoka for sure. Only anime I've seen with despair after despair. Every small chance of hope just got tossed away like it's nothing. The characters were also depressing to watch. At some point i felt like vomitting when I saw episode 11 and because I could take in all that happened in the past. It was so depressing

Toradora!

It was one of the first anime series that I watched when I restarted my anime career a couple of years ago and it was such a rollercoaster of laughs, tears and genuine emotions. I didn't know what to do after it was all over after just 25 episodes

Ohh, you're on episode 43. ALOT of stuff happens. Get ready for extreme feels and adrenaline. I wish I could wipe my memories and watch it all over again.

Toradora. If it had been better explained why
then it wouldn't be so bad. I shouldn't have to piece the plot together from a letter and Ryuuji's resigned sadface.jpg. Hell even
I get that it was thematic to her character, but c'mon it was the ending, at least give me something.

Maybe Love Live Sunshine. I like it better than the original, but it's not like I consider it to be Aikatsu-tier anime or anything. It's just that I haven't really watched anything regularly after the show ended and this is the least I've ever watched in over a decade.

Madoka Magica: was "the void", I literally can't stop thinking about it and nothing seems to compare even though my taste has become more refined since then.

End of Evangelion: a masterpiece movie for a great series which leaves anyone in awe because of its thematic depth and amazing presentation.

Aria the Origination: came closest to "the void" feeling, there's nothing more relaxing than watching Aria at night along with some good alcohol
after a long sauna session.

K-on!!: fucking graduation.

Hibike! Euphonium: fucking yuribaiting

Clannad: After Story: I s-swear I d-didn't cry.

HxH: tfw I realized it will never get a conclusion

I don't know how they did it, but this show made me laugh so much back in 2013 - and now WataMote has a special place in my heart; if you're looking for a good comedy anime then I definitely recommend it!

So many shows did that to me but the worst was NGE + EOE. I would think about it every time when I went to sleep for weeks and would still think about it on daily basis for a long time after I finished it. I would say that I still often find myself thinking about it. One of the few things that left such a big impression on me in my life.

If I were being completely honest about this series (and the manga), here's how the series goes down
- Sensei wanting to die, pessimistic about a lot of things in life
- Kafuka (the other main character) the most insanely cheerful girl imaginable
- All characters have a pun in their names.
- More and more and more and more and more and more and more characters being introduced
- Selected chapters of the manga are animated
- There's 3 seasons (and 2 OVA and 1 Special) in total. Take it with a grain of salt
- I noticed on your list that you've seen FLCL. It's like FLCL, but on a whole new level.
- Random shit being thrown at you as a viewer
- I would suggest reading the manga too, since the ending is-

basically this in a nutshell

A few series but none like Hunter x Hunter, as others have said. Binged it in a week, felt clinically depressed for a week. I couldn't listen to Hyori Ittai for a month. Every time I heard the first notes of the song, my tears would well up. It was like someone died. I don't regret it though. It was an amazing experience, and I hope I can find another anime as amazing as HxH.

I feel like binging a show makes that emptiness feeling a lot more intense, eapecially something as long as HxH. I binge watch a lot of shows, but If I find a show to be special I take my sweet time and enjoy it, which I’m currently doing with HxH.

Probably the smartest choice. I was recommended to binge it because otherwise the chimera ant arc would feel slow. They might have been right, but I probably should have slowed down some. Enjoy Hunter x Hunter! I'd really love to experience watching it for the first time again.
