Ohhhh shit. I just watched the video. I thought this was hyperbole based off the guy who got his non-FineBros-related reaction video removed.

This is not cool. Nah.

I personally do not dislike the FineBros. I dislike their team. I think this was originally meant to be a very good idea but somehow, it ended up skewed. I highly doubt this was all just Benny and Rafi's doing and I don't think there is malicious intent. However, it's still a hard pill to swallow because some of what they said in the video makes it seem that way.

But I guess my biggest problem is the fact that they are doing the exact opposite of what they are preaching. Again, I think it's mostly the PR team behind this but the fact that they're even allowing this speaks more to greed than goodwill. I hope this leads to a good thing in the end but right now, it is incredibly scary to witness.

Another problem: the format. Like I can understand that they have a format that they use for each video but as of this point, I have not seen another channel directly emulate their formula. Which is strange to me because they are dropping hints that there are channels stealing from them. What concerns me is the fact that a reaction channel wholly separate from their formula will get taken down for some bullshit reason.

Also, they don't want their content distributed but they have no problem having kids react, teens react, etc. reacting to other people's content that the finebros had no help in creating at all. And sometimes, they don't even seem to ask permission for this.

I feel like this is a very good reaction video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=No_Vti186Tk

I absolutely despise most reaction videos with the exception of those which make fun of them. I think this is good.

Not much difference at this point in my eyes, but I suppose it depends on the person.

I'm...honestly disappointed...I am (will no longer be after I write this lil post) a subscriber of their channel for about 4 years. But what they're doing is despicable...and they are way too hypocrites to say they are the 1st to create "React" videos. What's even more low, is that they want to strike down anyone who does a react video. What...am I not allowed to react to a funny video anymore? And they want to get money from the ones doing react videos as well?

Well, fuck you too Fine Brothers. I no longer want to be part of your "community".

Quite the irony, as earlier on a thread about who's our fav youtubers, I mentioned them as being my 3rd favorite channel. Well...no longer they are.

Not a fan of reaction channels.....

I mean have you guys seen those new "Let's Watch" videos? You are literally watching a guy watching another guy usually...... Biggest cash milk ever.

But Finebros did not make reaction videos, they have been happening ever since 2 girls 1 cup. They have no legal standing or right to try this and is a blatant way for them to earn the money that these other people do.

So no they really fucked up here, it was kinda the same situation when Sony tried to copyright Let's Play's.

Only video I watched from them is kids playing retro games. I watched one where they are playing Mike Tyson's Punch Out. They fucking lost to "Glass Joe". I was wondering where Glass Joe got his 1 win from...

They are both cunts and have no right to do something like that. It's just bullshit. React videos are very broad things that have existed for decades before the fine Bros even existed. That's not something that can be trademarked but I don't know enough about the bullshit intricacies of business to say for sure. I think they happen to be licensing the "format". Which in practice encompasses almost all react videos anyways, even if they aren't copyrighting the entire concept. It's not like I really care though if it does happen, when is very unlikely. Extremely accessible quick and easy entertainment similar to this has already been monopolized by shit companies like buzz feed and watch mojo. All forms of entertainment similar to this is all going to eventually be homogenized into a handful of giant Internet corporations.

Whether or not it gets monopolized or not means nothing to me. Any slightly above average person wouldn't really find much entertainment in below average intelligence people making incredibly obvious and vapid responses to random things. Why the fuck would I want to watch people making observations a slightly intelligent person should have already inferred themselves? It's redundant, vapid, meaningless and not entertaining.

If I wanted someone's opinion on something, it should be a well researched and complex analysis by an experienced reviewer. If talentless hacks are going to have to pay money to fine Bros, excreting low quality bait to vacuous consumers. Then so be it. I wouldn't say that's a bad thing because that really does help concentrate this garbage into a single concentrated location. Fine bros entertainment. That just makes it easier for me to avoid it all.

I think Youtube is a bunch of bullshit now. Youtube is filled people sitting in their car doing "food reviews", people who "react" to random videos sitting on their ass all day, people that "prank" other people, twitch-streaming bitches, copy-infringement fucks, and worse music videos. All, so they can fucking earn revenue. The purpose of Youtube was to show share videos with the world, not to earn money, but for entertainment. Face it folks, the Youtube community is dead. The reason people make videos nowadays is because they want to earn some cash, simple as that.

But, for the FineBros trying to copyright every reaction video on Youtube? That's bullshit. They have no right to do that, since they steal other people's content. I strongly disapprove this.

Huh, that's...interesting. You can tell that there was some good intentions from this but honestly you really can't just copyright that. I'm not surprised people would be angry at them considering the details.

Personally, I really like watching their react videos since its fun to see people of all ages react to something they may not be use to. But..does that justify them to aim for this? Not really.

Here is a graph of their subscriber count since their video launched. It's quite amusing. They've essentially lost 25k+ subscribers after that video. Of course they still have over 14 million, so I doubt they're overly worried.

Funniest part was when they said that "Reaction Videos" and what not will become a definitive representation of our generation's culture. What a bunch of self-important douchebags.
Remembering kids, in the 2000's we had 9/11, the internet becoming nearly universal in the developed world, the 2008 financial crisis, the advent of smartphones, etc. — and in the 2010's we had Reaction Videos brought to you by Fine Bros (TM).

This influences me so little , that i can not even bring myself to remotely care or sympathise with YT-bers who are gonna get affected by this :|

But, i do get how sucky this situation must be for some ppl who use YT as a primary source of income (which is a bad idea from the start).

Whats actually more scary here is that "technically" the fine bros did nothing wrong, this was the obvious, logical and smart next move to make to maximize profit ... its horrifying to think what the industry has become , its "eat or get eaten" with no middle grounds.

They'll target any rising react channels that could give them competition in the future and quash them before they become a threat. That was probably one of the main reasons for the copyright.
